For the first time since 2019, PWG is holding the Battle of Los Angeles. It will take place the last weekend of January, the same weekend as the Royal Rumble.

So far we have 4 confirmed entrants: JONAH (fka Bronson Reed), Alex Shelley, Kevin Blackwood (recent PWG signing coming off an ESW title win over Daniel Garcia) and just announced tonight, Lio Rush.

Bandido is the current BOLA Champion and there’s probably a good chance he signs up to defend his title. Only one person has won the tournament twice, that being Ricochet.

The tournament is widely regarded as a major event in independent wrestling and we can definitely expect some great matches and big surprises. It will definitely be worth keeping an eye on.

I LOL so hard if Jeff Hardy is in this and does a XPAC in CHIKARA style performance.  Not really a BOLA fan but if the roster is good will check out.  Super Dragon appears will so be on this.  

What has be interesting now is the connection from PWG and AEW.  Nothing stopping AEW guys from showing up.  Imagine announcing fucking Miro for this?  Or Am Drag showing up?  

This is to be the highest-profile booking of Kevin Blackwood's career. Good for him.

Bet Samoa Joe will be here. WWE may claim they are not scouting indy guys, but can easily see Joe going to say hi to people and checking this out.

Missed it over the weekend but Black Taurus has also signed on.

This is gonna be a fun tournament.

Punker is too egotistical to do something like this. DB however, I could see doing this to face Gresham.

Dragon in shit like this and a possibly G1 before he hangs up his boots for good are things I want out of this run.

Meltzer said American Dragon wanted to work this but AEW asked him to hold off debuting on the West Coast until AEW went out there. Once they do a West Coast there is no issue with him doing PWG however.

BOLA starts tonight. I’m looking forward to some of the possible matches. Lots of solid young talent in the 16 entrants.

Still curious who Philip 5 Skulls is. Hoping for a big surprise but not holding my breath either. Someone like Will Ospreay or Jay White would be neat, but I’m also wondering if the news this week about Bryan Danielson not being allowed to wrestle on the west coast until AEW goes there was on purpose……..

I can’t find a bracket anywhere. PWG hasn’t updated their site and the wiki just lists the participants and winner.

Sounds like this weekend was a bit of a cluster anyway. Gresham couldn’t compete and got pulled last minute, Lio Rush got injured by Buddy Matthews (though people in attendance have said it was a kayfabe injury), and there were very little results posted online over the weekend.

Garcia beat Mike Bailey in the final. That’s all I know.

Gresham has COVID so he stayed home. Said it was not a decision he wanted, but was the right thing to do for the safety of others.

Good news from him though, his fed is running another show this month.  He is bringing in Serena for it.
