The tragic life of Jimmy Rave has come to a painful end today it was reported.

For those who did not follow the Crown Jewel of Ghana's life, post RoH his life went to hell.  He went on drug benders, and struggled with staph infections in his arm his whole career that turned out to be MRSA that required amputation.  He retired from wrestling in late 2020 over this.  Then he had trouble walking a few months later and they found the MRSA was also in his legs, which were also amputated.  He ended up broke as his hospital bills were well over 100k.

Damn he was so young too.

I enjoyed him during my time following ROH. Heel hook and I liked the theme he was using at the time. Lost in the shuffle and then that was it. Also holy shit he had his legs amputated a few months ago? Damn dude. And an arm? Fuck.

Yeah they cut him to fucking pieces. His twitter got like super tragic these last few months opening up about all of this. I remember in RoH and CZW him getting the staph infections and missing shows. Then later on people said it was all drug related, but sounds like no, it was MRSA and he was literally keeping the staph infections repeatedly for over a decade and by the time people figured out what was up it was like too late.

Very likely too it was what killed him. Can only cut the virus out of so many places.

RIP Jimmy.

When I discovered ROH on TWC, I always enjoyed Rave. Him and Prince Nana were great in The Embassy (instrumental version of Lil Kim’s “Drugs” was one of my favourite ever entrance themes). And loved his feuds with Punk and Styles. Rave Clash ftw.

Such a sad loss, so young.

The Rave vs Styles feud was amazing. They took it everywhere. Loved him trying to remove the Straight Edge tattoo from Punk with the cheese grater as well. The whole angle were he developed an unstoppable finished move that just turned out to be the Pedigree was also hilarious.

I feel like this news and revelation will be devastating to Baker-man for some reason.

That cheese grater spot was fantastic. Forgot about him using the pedigree haha. Also loved his later finisher - the Ghanareah. Awesome play on words with a tribute to the excellent Prince Nana too.

His best finisher IMO will always be From Dusk til Dawn. He had a killer spider suplex too.

His Nowhere To Run cage match with Punk is one of my favourite ROH matches. Jimmy was such a great heel (and it was a real waste that his career nosedived after the Embassy) and Punk was at the height of his popularity prior to his turn - it was the iconic Punk hometown match before MITB & All Out.

Terribly sad that he's died so young and leaving behind his children - but glass half full perhaps at least his suffering is over.

Missed is ROH stuff but remember Rock n Rave with Lance Hoyt in TNA.

Never heard of MRSA before but had a coworker that had multiple problems with staph infections. To the point he ended up in the hospital three times with it.

MRSA is a near untreatable staph infection. There are a few drugs that may work, but it is resistant to treatment from most antibiotics. Only option to deal with it is to cut it out to stop the spread. It is nasty stuff.

Rave his entire career has issues with staph infections and people assumed that he was making them up at points and was just strung out on drugs and missing shows. Likely what he had was MRSA and they would get it into remission, then it was re-flare up.

A tragic end to the career of a very successful and competent professional wrestler. Reading his story, I really feel for the guy.

I've not seen much of Jimmy Rave and don't really know his storylines, but did catch him a few times when watching random ROH shows in the mid 2000s. The crowd loathed him. Every single time I saw him he would get bombarded with toilet roll. Nuclear heat. Not sure I've seen a more hated heel in the independent scene.

RIP.

He was the guy that it was cool to hate on in RoH. The main storyline to check out from him is his feud with CM Punk and his feud with AJ Styles. Him and Styles feuded for years everywhere. It was a hilarious feud too with Rave stealing the Styles Clash, which also would get nuclear heat.

Tragic news. I heard he had to have his arm amputated last year, which is bad enough, but didn't know he was still having issues.

🤯 is right. I was a massive Jimmy Rave fan in the mid 2000s. As I have mentioned many times, Rave as The Crown Jewel of the Embassy is my favorite thing ROH ever did. He was great as the one true heel in ROH. He was the ONE guy in the company/scene who never tried to be cool or badass and it was tremendous. Using the Styles RAVE Clash...All that build for The Pedigree :lol: ...Trying to disfigure Punk...Becoming a made man by beating AJ Styles & CM Punk on back to back nights! Just a legendary run that never got the props it deserved. Rave & Nana were a perfect pairing. The Punk cage match @admin mentioned is my 2nd favorite ROH match. It's perfect good guy vs. bad guy rasslin'. And the Embassy vs. Generation Next Steel Cage Warfare match isn't far behind that one. Rave having epic feuds with Punk, AJ, and Generation Next all in the same year is some Flair/Lawler level greatness.

Then there was the time early on in his Embassy run where he was working heel at a CZW show I attended. I cheered for him because I was already Embassy 4 Life. Rave, like the heel god he was, singled me out and told me to shut up. I sold it like my feelings were hurt while respecting his commitment to character in reality.
