The Brian Flores firing is the most shocking so far. He just swept the fucking Patriots.
This definitely has to do with him not wanting Deshaun Watson.

Brian Flores going is insane. I know they got off to a rough start but he righted the ship and I think he was one of the better young coaches in the league.

Jags need to just hire him right now. They have a pretty talented defense in spots - a quarterback they are still hoping to build around and I think he’d be good there.
Just make sure he hires someone to control the offense and Lawrence’s profession. I guess that would be the one knock on him in Miami.

The Brian Flores firing is the most shocking so far. He just swept the fucking Patriots. This definitely has to do with him not wanting Deshaun Watson. He wanted Watson and Watson wanted him, it was Grier who didn't want to give in and Tua wanted a different HC given Flores was behind the scenes trying to get rid of him. At least according to reports. Joe Judge stays(somehow) and Dave Gettleman is retiring instead of being fired. Amazing how Judge got to keep his job into year 3.

Joe Judge should be fired for that QB sneak alone. Choosing Tua over Flores is a bad move Blindy. I like Tua for the sole reason he feeds the shit out of Waddle but still. Tua ain’t it. I agree with UT that Flores to Jacksonville would work. I read an article saying that Flores couldn’t keep a coaching staff and that was one of the reasons he was let go.

Makes sense considering the OC situation in Miami this year.
That’s why they should just hire a strong offensive coordinator and give him residence. Hell try Joe Brady.

A bunch of teams have already entered their offseason even with a few weeks left to play and 2022 has the potential to be one of the craziest offseasons in recent NFL history with some huge names potentially on the movie. Especially at quarterback with Watson still out there , Wilson seemingly out of Seattle , Aaron Rodgers , Big Ben leaving Pitt and who knows about lesser names like Jimmy G , Baker or even Tua. A few teams on my mind: Seattle Seahawks - I said Russell is probably on his way out and am interested in not only where he goes but what Seattle can get for him at this point. Him coming back from that finger injury might have been the worst thing to happen to Seattle ... not only did it not do anything for their season but it also might have hurt his trade value because he is not playing well at all. Not that he still won't command a decent haul but I do think the asking price has to have taken a hit now. It's why when Todd brought up the fake Jet's trade a few weeks back of Zack and a 1st for Russell I didn't think it was that far off base. Maybe a conditional pick or two and that seems fair. I think if they could get a young QB prospect and a Top 5-10 pick for Russ they should take it and start the rebuild. Houston Texans/Carolina Panthers - Honestly this is the Deshaun trade that SHOULD happen at this point. Carolina needs a quarterback , Deshaun might have the most equity in Carolina given where he played college ball and they could easily package McCaffery in there. I love Cmac as much as the next person but the fact is that he can't be counted on to play a full season and you aren't going where Tepper wants to go with him being the most important player in Carolina. Get Deshaun in there to revitalize his career and legacy and Houston gets Cmac , a fan favorite type player that should be able to sell some tickets and jersey's in Houston while giving them someone to watch on the field. Obviously Carolina would have to throw in picks to complete the trade but I like this as a starting point.
Chicago Bears - A franchise in complete flux. Head Coach and GM are going to be gone , they have a bright young potential star at QB but not a whole lot else on the roster. If I were Chicago I would return to my identity and hire a hard nosed defensive coach and bring in a up and comer to coach Fields and the offensive side of the ball. Giants - They are standing pat aside from Gettleman I assume. I'm split on it , I don't think Judge is terrible but has been dealt quite a terrible hand and Jones has barely had a chance to succeed. I don't think I'd go into next year with Jones as the only option but I could see giving him another chance. Then again if Russell Wilson becomes an option and they get a more aggressive GM then all bets are off. Washington Football Team - Season not technically over but they should just start themselves on fire now. UT you took the words right out of my mouth. We need a QB and CMC needs to go. In the last 2 seasons, he has played only in 10 games since signing that record-setting four-year, $64 million contract extension back in April 2020. IMO that's too much money sitting on the bench.

I’ve got absolutely no interest in McCaffrey for the Texans. Texans need to get stronger in the trenches before any flash signings even if it’s part of a trade. They also have one of the worst run blocking offensive lines in the league so they wouldn’t come close to getting the maximum out of McCaffrey.

It would be absolutely astonishing if Joe Judge manages to keep his job. Giants finished the season doing something that only one other team in history had done - losing their last six games of a season by 11 or more points. Two of those teams were Miami and Chicago who decided their coach weren't worth keeping.
With that said, Miami choosing Grier over Flores is pretty wild.

Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith was arrested on suspicion of DUI early Monday morning, according to King County court records.
Smith was arrested at 2:10 a.m. by the Washington State Patrol and released from a King County correctional facility on his personal recognizance -- meaning in lieu of posting bail -- at 9:27 a.m., records show. No other information was immediately available.
"Geno is fully cooperative with the investigation. I hope that an open mind can be kept by all as the facts are ascertained," Smith's attorney Jon Fox said in a statement.
The Seahawks have not commented on the matter. A message sent to Smith's agent was not returned.
The Seahawks returned to Seattle on Sunday evening after closing out their season with a 38-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale.
Smith, 31, served as Russell Wilson's backup the past three seasons and stepped in during the three-plus games in October that Wilson missed with a broken finger. He completed 65 of 95 passes for 702 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. The interception ended the Seahawks' comeback bid against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5, when Smith took over for an injured Wilson in the second half.
The Seahawks went 1-2 in his three starts.
Smith is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent after playing on a one-year, $1.2 million contract in 2021.
He has a career record of 13-21 over nine seasons with the New York Jets, New York Giants, Los Angeles Chargers and Seahawks.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I think literally nobody was rooting for him. I had nothing against the guy but why he's still playing at the NFL level blows my mind. He's not even a good option at backup. I wonder if it was weed and not booze. If they released him on recognizance and he's cooperating I have a feeling the cops smelled weed and brought him in. If a blood alcohol test was done we'd probably know that info by now.

I'm not really sure why it took a day of meetings to come to what seemed an obvious decision, but at least they've made the right one. Now they can get the GM and HC aligned which is the right way to do things. Surely after three bad hires the next one will be a success.

Brian Flores is from NY and is a defensive coach, maybe he and the Giants hookup. Will all depend on the GM of course, curious where they go.

I think the fact that the Texans got passed on for the Jets in the Senior Bowl was the spoiler, because if Culley kept his job, he would have been the one coaching and not Saleh's staff.

McDaniels incoming. Texans will get a lot of shit for firing Culley but anyone who’s watched the Texans know he isn’t it as a long-term option.

I think people will be angry that a minority got fired after 1 season and given the McNair family(Or well Bob McNair who passed away few years ago)'s issues and how Deshaun Watson is basically on limbo, they'll catch shit if they hire a white coach, as ridiculous as that may be. This means Mike Tomlin, Robert Saleh and Ron Rivera are the lone minority HCs in the NFL.

NOW the real intrigue is, does Texans hiring Brian Flores entice Deshaun Watson to go back to the Texans and for the lawsuits against him to be dropped and for bygones be bygones. Because if Culley was dropped because Flores was let go, this becomes fascinating.

I think he was a scapegoat coach from day one , they were never going to be successful and they just hired a guy they knew they’d fire in a year and more available to actually proceed with a rebuild.

He's an ex Pat so he would mesh with Nick Caserio, seems pretty obvious just wonder if the bridge has been burnt for Watson. Davis Mills if so would fetch the Texans at worst a 2nd round pick, he looks like Joe Burrow in comparison to the QBs of this draft class.

The "poor David Culley" take has been odd from the start. Dude was a lifetime position group coach, then got 8 million dollars to be a head coach for one season in a situation where expectations were so low it was next to impossible to do anything but look good in comparison. He can ride off into retirement right now if he wants to.
