I just donated platelets and plasma last week!

I use to give and was over 3 gallons donated but then they shut my local blood center down. Stating there were plenty of community blood drives to support our area. The problem is they usually are during the middle of the week and do not work with my work schedule.

Good shit man. I used to do platelets years ago, massive process(90-120 mins) but it's such a huge need. Now I am a wimp and just do whole blood. 

I really hate the "have you had sex with another man in six months" question. So when I move to Chicago, if I donate with any kinda regularity, I'm just gonna fuckin' lie.

Feels like an outdated of a question since it's been heavily debunked that HIV isn't the "Gay disease" anymore. 

Feels crazy to deprive someone from donating blood or platelets over that, especially when there's a need for everything & anything. I get countless e-mails reminding me that it's a shortage of blood going on, we going to not take someone in over this?

COVID I get or if you've been outside the country in _______ weeks but this feels unnecessary to ask that question for people. 


Ready to pig out on free goodies this Sunday, I mean give blood this Sunday. 

I know it's a quick google away but what blood types are in need? All?

All is welcome but the O-(I think O+ too) blood types especially are cherished since everyone can use that type. Considered a universal donor.

That was pretty fast, all done. I laid off coffee the entire morning, much smoother experience. Lesson learned.

This question is done soon.  They are allowing gay men and bi men to give blood finally.  

Will start to see people refuse blood transfusions in the future most likely over it.

Did my donation again today. Hooray for civic duty! Sipping on some delicious mango juice. Chocolate chip cookies and also Lays chips.

Anybody else been slinging their blood around? I had to cancel a few times due to my lingering bronchitis, but finally made it in today.

Bailed on work today due to computer issues and just donated blood.

Scheduled another one for FEB 18 last week which actually works great given I have Presidents Day off the following day. Same place, same time. It's a walk to get to my nearest church so this works out.

The lone rough thing is can't drink coffee before or during the day but once it's over, all bets are off.

Who here is AB- there's one on the poll, that's pretty unique.

Another one in the books. Easy process, came in few minutes later since last year I came in too early while they were setting up and thus I was hanging outside like an idiot. Like 6-7 people ahead of me vs last year I was 1st in line with like 2 others behind me, THATS A GOOD THING! Then again the time I have it set up for, I think people come straight out of Sunday mass around like 8:30AM so lots of people take notice of the blood drive in the Catholic school right next to the church.

Questionnaire takes like 5 mins, I waited as long to get my blood pinch, blood pressure, temperature etc. And the whole blood giving process takes me like 10-15 minutes, I was readying up my 2nd game of Solitaire on my phone with the other hand(I'm a righty) and it was done.

Got bag of pretzel, apple juice and vanilla cookies and get to enjoy the rest of my Sunday. Foos . First thing I had after coming over from 15 degree weather(Windy as all hell, my eyes were watering) was a cup of coffee, that's what we live for. 

Holy shit. Now I know what Blindy looks like and it’s nothing like I expected.

You might have whooped me in fantasy Foos but I won the war via blood donation today. Worth it despite the throbbing headache due to no caffeine before the donation though.

Props Blindy! I'm due very soon, last donated Aug/14. I'll have to push it a few weeks though, home life will be chaos for a while.
