Putin would like the Ukraine back. He is not likely to get it though. He just does not have enough combat troops to hold the country and unlike the Ukraine, has to pay for his supplies, now with a collapsed currency. Likely to be riots in Russia next week as well as he locks them down.

How long before he launched a nuke? If he does, I'd give the people of Moscow about an hour to live. There's no way he wins dropping a nuclear weapon.

Moscow will be fine. Putin not so much. That is how you get drone swarms and FREEDOM~! in Russia. US will not nuke back since we really do not need to. We try not to kill even regular soldiers these days but just surgical strike the leaders by blowing up their houses.
If it goes to nuclear war, drone strikes will remove Putin and his officers, and American friendly allies will rise political while American hostile leaders keep getting killed by their enemies for reasons the US just cannot understand no matter how many times you ask us and not matter what CIA plans leak.

Russia and Ukraine agreed to allow safe corridors for aid to be brought into the conflict and for people to the leave the conflict zone. Not let's pretend that Russia cares to follow this while they shell a nuclear power plant that is now on fire.
...
What is fucked up is likely that power plant could go critical and meltdown, and NATO will still claim they should not get involved while Putin turns the Ukraine into the location for the next Fallout game.

A fire has broken out at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant amid heavy shelling by Russian forces attempting to seize the strategic location from Ukrainian defenders.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba warned that if the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant “blows up it will be 10 times larger than Chernobyl”, as the plant’s spokesman called for an immediate halt to the heavy weapons fire.
It comes after President Volodymyr Zelensky said “the end of the world has arrived”, as he pleaded for more military assistance from the West.

Whelp... NATO got to step in now. I am not sure why you keep saying that "NATO will have to step in" If the reactor melts down, they will step in... Only to assist. If there are either: Chemical, Biological or Tactical Nukes used... Then there is a slight chance NATO may perhaps intervene. In any other scenario, including blowing up pre-school there is a snowflakes chance in a nuclear reactor that NATO does any more than wring their hands and make speeches.

Majority of NATO countries will be effected in that plant melts down.
And after allowing civilians to be targeted and vacuum and cluster bombs to be used, NATO is looking weaker and weaker by the day from inaction. Also today they ignore the Ukraine, tomorrow could move on to the smaller countries in NATO are not worth starting a world war over. I mean Slovenia is an ally, but right now, if Russia went to take them, I wonder if NATO would even respond.

Invading any NATO country will be considered an act of war against all of them, they've been pretty clear about that.

NATO HAVE.....rejected a no fly zone over Ukraine. They did it for a reason. You keep mentioning being worried about Nuclear War and then worry why they would do this. That's exactly why they won't implement it: "NATO does not want to impose a no-fly zone, as this would mean its forces might have to shoot down Russian aircraft. This could drag all 30 NATO member states, including the UK and US, into a war with Russia, and those rejecting the idea of a no-fly zone say it might risk starting World War Three, and a possible nuclear confrontation."

Thousands of Russians are rushing to flee the country ahead of this weekend, as rumors swirl that Vladimir Putin could soon declare martial law, close the borders and crack down even harder on domestic dissent.
Why it matters: For as devastating as the humanitarian situation in Ukraine has become, widespread suffering is rapidly arriving at Russia's own doorstep.
More than 8,000 people have already been detained at anti-war protests since Feb. 24, according to the independent monitor OVD-Info.
Russia's Duma has passed a law making the spread of "fake news" about the Russian military punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The last pillars of Russia's already-limited independent press were forced to close under pressure from the Kremlin this week. Russia's state communications watchdog blocked the websites of the BBC, Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Deutsche Welle and other foreign media outlets for spreading "fake" information.

Another Russian Revolution on the horizon?
It's just history repeating itself, if it happens. Putin sees himself as a Tsar.

I wish the 'protestors' in Canada were taking notes. This is what happens when you REALLY lose your rights and privileges and are run by a dictator instead of just a dick. I feel for the people on both sides. That's who pays in war. The innocents who don't even want war.

With all due respect Russia is on the trajectory it is today exactly because people never reacted when the draconian restrictions and controls started years ago. I'm. Not saying that Canada is on remotely the same trajectory, but it's why we should all value our freedom because while not all restrictions lead to tyranny, all tyranny starts with restrictions. Now Putin is too powerful and can't be stopped by his own people.

Sure he will massacre some, but the rest will likely overthrow him. He is losing more and more of his power by the day and most of what he deployed in the Ukraine he will not be able to get back out of the country. That mud fucked him up. And moving stuff out of combat zones means the Ukraine people can say their final goodbyes with fire.

He has maintained power by funnelling money to his ex kgb and military oligarch pals. The same palms he greased to get where he is are the most likely to turn as they see their wealth crumble in front of them. This whole conflict has motivated me to hold some assets in physical precious metals. Watching the ruble crash to zero has been incredible. I don't know how easy it is to buy ruble at the moment, but buying 10k of it... If you had it to spare, would be a genius move if the currency even half way recovers.

Yeah, his backers cannot be pleased with the results. Their entire fortunes made from his corruption are disappearing.
The ruble feels like a great WSB style investment. In theory, after Putin is out, much of the western world will make economic deals with them to recover so they are not forced to start trading nukes to their middle east allies and Chinese allies.
///
I am curious what happens if Russia lights up a US or UK convoy in the Ukraine. We are moving weapons by road, and they will be well within their right to blast the convoys before they give lethal supplies to the Ukraine army. But would NATO consider this an act or war or not since we are not supposed to be moving lethal weapons into a warzone if we are claiming neutrality.

Most countries are using the Polish border, as if they attack there, anything that lands in Poland is an act of war, so Russia is staying back and just patrolling the air. But US and UK are using the roads to bring stuff in it is said, but with the details of the supplies moving being withheld obviously.
