Tell me why Ali is better than Sugar Ray Robinson. Mind you, Ali lost once in his prime. I'm open to hear. Just not the research

Who's Sugar Ray Ronson?
Now if you mean Sugar Ray ROBINSON, then no, Ali is not better pound for pound. Not for a second.

I thought you meant "Sugar Ray Leonard" for a second and I was so ready to call this post out as heresy. I honestly haven't looked into Robinson's career enough to have a proper opinion though.

Imagine Sugar Ray Leonard with the punching power of Tommy Hearns and the chin of Marvin Hagler.. That was Sugar Ray Robinson.

Hagler is one of my all-time favorite fighters. And no offense to Leonard or anything (one of the greatest finesse boxers ever and had more power than given credit for), I just don't think he's on Ali's level.

theend, I can't recall your podcast appearance in full at the moment, but... Why do I think you've dabbled in boxing? I feel like I recall reading or hearing that you had.

My parents were like no way. So I got into wrestling instead (because that's so lucrative and less damaging on your body... 🙄) and never really looked back. But man, I feel like I would've loved boxing just as much.

Sharing for those who maybe were in the dark about Robinson like myself. Not gonna argue when Ali himself is saying the same thing that thereallt said.

Also not having cable in my formative years, I was never really aware of the popularity of Toughman until after the fact. I presume Rocky or my grandpa on my mom's side were responsible for my interest as a kid (talking pre-6th grade) in pursuing boxing as my mandatory sport.

In the 90s on FX they would have televised one minute 3 round matches with headgear and oversized gloves hosted by Lawrence Taylor and Matt Vasgergian. Butterbean is the most famous to come out of the Toughman competitions. It got to be so popular that many bars had Toughman competitions which is how I got into it. You just signed a waiver and jumped in the ring. That exposure got me to go out and learn how to actually box.
