Have you ever played Eternal Champions on the Genesis? It was Segas Mortal Kombat but to me it was way better, it had an amazing story where the universe was thrown out of balance by something and a force summoned warriors from all through time to fight in the tournament, all of the warriors were people who were killed or died before they could make some big impact on the universe, there were characters from all different eras, even from the future, there was a caveman from B.C., there was a cat burglar from the 20’s, a Vietnam war doctor from the 60’s, a cyborg kickboxer from the future, every character has this amazing backstory and every character had something they were going to do to change the world but they were killed before they could. The story of the game is that whoever wins the tournament would be sent back to the moment before their death with the knowledge and ability to stop it. Brilliant game and big inspiration for my draft

It was very similar, Best Of The Best was the product of the same Eternal Chamionship Council that consists of forces of the multiverse in an attempt to stop The Nothing from consuming all. The Best Of The Best channeled wrestlers from specific points in their careers down to the day, usually them in their prime form. This tournament channels the wrestlers from shortly before their untimely deaths and revolves around all the effects in the universe from their untimely passing, and all that could have been.

Fun fact about the Johnny Gargano pick: that's the first steal from my short list in at least 4 rounds, maybe more. After I picked Edge I jotted down a list of about 15-20 names off the top of my head. A bunch of them were taken in the next round, but since then I haven't crossed any of them off (unless I've picked them). And a few of those names I have written down are still alive.

I am very annoyed about the Kairi Hojo pick, I'm not gonna lie.

Yes correct, October 1997 WWF Pillman from just about a week before he was found dead, at 35 years old(younger than I am now). So how it works is if he's able to manipulate his way to being the last man standing in the Eternal Championship he would be given the knowledge of all of the lives and everything that could have changed and the impact he could have had on this universe had he been able to pick his self up and get clean, then returned to his time with the ability to change his fate and correct all of the imbalances that occurred in the universe due to his death.  

The Eternal Champions game on Sega also had a fucking killer soundtrack. God I love that game.

I mean with some of those first and second round picks, I just assumed we were doing this draft in reverse order.

Christian and Storm this late is pretty wild. I’m in a conundrum for my next pick. I have to decide if I want to go the fairly safer route or choose wild and craziness.

We still have a few turns though...
