Been getting some work done on my War and Peace novel I realized I drafted wrestlers from 10 different decades, 1890's to 2030. Very cool.
I got to looking up Whitey Caldwell. This is the wrestler that inspired the whole idea, years ago back when WWE Network uploaded the Smokey Mountain episodes. When watching through those they advertised the tribute show they did in 1994 for Caldwell and mentioned his story. I don't know why his story made me think of Eternal Champions the Sega Game maybe because he died as a champion I guess. But it gave me the idea to do this I just never got around to it until now. But in finally researching Caldwell tonight I learned that he was a very popular wrestler in Tennessee in his day, maybe one of the proto godfathers of hardcore wrestling. The only pics I could find of him were from a chain match and they are pretty gnarly pics for that era. But in looking this up I found the excerpt from the Smokey Mountain tribute show program from that 1994 show, written by Jim Cornette himself:

The Mountie is only good, if you're teaming him up with PCO. As a Canadian, I feel I'm clearly more than qualified, to determine PCO > The Mountie. Although a French Canadian might be even more qualified than I am.
