Neat little piece of trivia: this is the first time the Stanley Cup final will be contested between two teams who’s names don’t end with the letter S.
This is also only the 2nd time in the history of the big 4 major leagues. The other time was the 2012 NBA final between the Miami Heat and OKC Thunder.

Also more trivia: this is the first Stanley Cup final since 1979 that will not have a player who was teammates with Jaromir Jagr at some point.

The Kakko situation is very strange, it was a bizarre decision to bench one of the best-performing players on the team. Let's hope it doesn't lead to future repercussions, but if he's pissed off (and he should be) he's got every right. The Rangers already have a track record of alienating young talented players (Kravtsov) so it's hard not to be concerned. I don't think saying the team was tired is so much of an excuse, just the reality. We played two tough series with Pittsburgh and Carolina that went the distance (and beyond, literally an "eighth" game against the Pens) while Tampa breezed past Florida. You could see that our offence just didn't have the same juice in the last few games. Tampa's defensive strength obviously deserves some of the credit for that, but the extra juice from our stars like Panarin and Fox was noticeably absent. TBL are a roster full of experienced guys who have been there and done this plenty of times before, this is the first playoff experience for the majority of our lineup. Hopefully in the next couple of seasons, they can build on it. Rangers did not seem to be tired when they were facing elimination in round 1 and 2 and in their game 7s and game 1 and 2 of the ECF. All of a sudden they are tired in game 3 (which they had a substantial lead) and beyond to play like a beer league team? These are professional athletes with the best treatment available. It's an excuse and I'm worried the problem will not be fixed, hence an excuse. Cannot rely on Shesterkin to be an absolute beast (did it work with Lundqvist?). No other player on any other team is tired? Head coach needs to make adjustments during and between games. And the players need to execute or don't bother coming to the rink. Saying they are tired is not what they are paid to do. Bring back Torts to scream at these fucks who showed zero effort 6 wins away from a Cup.

It's cool that there is some type of connection still.

Rangers winning -> the young team is learning quickly on the fly and are a force, "the kids are alright"
Rangers losing -> its a young team with not much experience, played a lot of games not much time off

I mean that's exactly how tiredness works, you're not tired until you are. The other teams are not as tired because they haven't had to play as much, Tampa breezed past Florida, and Colorado were always going to face an easier run because the West is not as strong. It would have been nice if the Rangers didn't have to go the distance against Pittsburgh and saved some petrol, but for a variety of reasons that didn't happen, and by this stage it clearly caught up with them. "Zero effort" is such a simple argument. They were beaten by a better team, but they definitely gave it all they had. Did you see Mika and Kreider's interview after the game? Zibanejad was absolutely shattered, there's no way you can say with a straight face that he didn't leave it all out there.
