Are you calling your Jets weenies, Foos ? Yes. They have stopped scoring. 9 even strength goals in their past 7 games. Pathetic.

The NFL comparison for Patrick Kane seems like it's Aaron Rodgers - former MVP who's still at an all-star level, faced with the late career pivot of being a one-team player or moving for a potentially better chance at another championship. Panarin would be Davante Adams in this situation.

Re: Tanner Jeannot or whatever his name is. Fucking CRAZY trade. Like it doesn’t make sense unless you buy in to the theory that Tampa is trying to fuck the trade market so other East teams overpay this week. I wouldn’t put it past them but either way it’s fucked.
Also the Leafs disproved that theory when Kyle Dubas straight up fleeced the Blackhawks for Lafferty and McCabe today.
Dubas is #AllIn this year and if the Leafs go out in the first round again I might actually stop watching hockey forever.

The East is loaded. The West is a bunch of weenie teams. But whoever comes out of the West will probably win the Cup because the poor team coming out of the East will be so beat up and destroyed. There's six teams in the East with more points than the #1 team in the West, and even the bad teams in the East are better, five of the bottom six teams are in the West.

Without Barzal, the Islanders are back to square one. They need that 1 and 1A center if they want to have a chance to go on a deep run. Sorokin is (all) elite and will steal games along the way.
My pick to make one of the two last playoff spots is Buffalo (which I predicted pre season).
1. They allow too many goals, but they score a lot. Best goal differential (+17) among playoff contenders. 2. 58 games played. Couple games in hand on Washington and Florida. And, a ridiculous 5 games in hand on the Islanders. 3. Counting OT/SO losses, they are on the only above .500 team, among playoff contenders.
If I have it correctly, seeds 2 and 3 play each other in the first round? That would mean in the East, Rangers/Devils and of course wait for it.... Lightning/Leafs.

The Atlantic teams adding all these hitters really adds to Foos ' comment about the East being a meat grinder. GRIT.

The disparity has been nuts. I've seen some graphics showing the talent difference going from the West to the East and from the East to the West and it's not even close. Arms race at this point.

Looks like the Rangers are getting Kane for picks. Not a hefty return for Chicago, but they had no choice. I hope the salary cap does not become an issue down the line (it already has).
Predators got a lot back for Ekholm. Not sure what the Oilers were thinking. Barrie has done well on the power play. It would make sense for the Oilers to keep Barrie and add Ekholm to round out the defense.

RT has reminded me of something that is fucking nuts to me. I love the current playoff format so much. :suspic: If the Lighting beat the Leafs again, say Sheldon Keith gets fired. In this argument that I'm presenting, how lame is it that it would primarily boil down to the fact that the Leafs can't be the Bolts? a team they can't strategize to avoid if they chose to do so because the format leaves teams with little to no choice. It's a joke that suits that aren't involved in the outcome of the game of that much power.

It would make sense for the Oilers to keep Barrie and add Ekholm to round out the defense. Money didn't work. While Barrie has been great on the PP he's a terrible defender and poor on transitions. Ekholm meanwhile is an excellent defender and extremely strong on the transition. And that's what you want in Edmonton. Defenders that can make that first pass to McDavid and Draisaitl and let them do their thing.

Yeah living in Edmonton is hilarious today. I literally sat in an office with 3 Oilers fans watching them freak the fuck out over all the moves the Leafs were making, then freak out even more when they saw Barrie for Eckholm.
I’m like guys, I watched Barrie in Colorado AND Toronto. He is not what Edmonton needs. They have shit defence and even shittier goaltending which is why they are in danger of missing the playoffs entirely, something that should not happen when CONNOR FUCKING MCDAVID IS ON YOUR TEAM.
Anyway, today was fun. Sad to see Sandin and Engvall go but thems the breaks. Dubas went all in and you can’t ask for any more than that.
I think Sandin was a foregone conclusion since he held out on signing his contract over play time. Dubas probably promised to trade him if he fell any further down the depth chart. And good for him. He’s a good player and should be a second line D at the very least. He just didn’t bring what the Leafs need. Shame him and Liljegren are broken up but oh well.
Engvall I will miss but at the same time, he should produce more points than he does. He’s too quick and too big to be skating around on a 3rd line doing nothing, but that’s what he is. Maybe new scenery will wake him the fuck up. Or not. Who knows. The Islanders need depth scoring BADLY and maybe Engvall will provide that.

lol Boston is so annoying. Outshot 19-57 by Calgary and they pinch it with 4 seconds left in OT.

I feel sorry for McDavid. He is not winning the cup any time soon if Edmonton does not get better defense and goalie. Their GA is 3.38 goals per game. Pure trash.

Rangers 1st period against the Capitals was their best period of the season. And... Mark Messier is an awful announcer.

Rangers 1st period against the Capitals was their best period of the season. And... Mark Messier is an awful announcer. If they can play like that more consistently then they are absolutely a cup contender. Splitting Kane and Panarin had to be done, they play the same role, Kane with Kreider is a much better combination.

Oh baby the Rangers have CLICKED alright. 6-0 over the Penguins last night and they've put another 6 past Nashville in the FIRST PERIOD tonight. Sam Rosen has called for the mercy rule.

Oh baby the Rangers have CLICKED alright. 6-0 over the Penguins last night and they've put another 6 past Nashville in the FIRST PERIOD tonight. Sam Rosen has called for the mercy rule. First 10 minutes was beer league hockey. I know Nashville was heavily shorthanded on the bench, but when the Rangers skate hard for every loose puck, never give up on the puck, they cycle their opponent, it creates chaos in the defensive zone. All of a sudden seams open up. The Rangers talent kicks in and they score some beautiful goals. Throw in some point shots with traffic in front and rebound shots. The Rangers do it all. The talented players need to keep playing hard. It turns the team up a notch. The Rangers will be tough to beat.

The Rangers proved if you skate with Carolina, they can be beat. Carolina smothers you all over the ice to make it difficult for clean passes. However, if the Rangers battle for those loose pucks just as hard all of a sudden Carolina is the one running around in their defensive zone. Shesterkin kept the Rangers in the game. Hurricanes goaltending can be shaky at times.
Whether it is Carolina or New Jersey the Rangers will have a difficult first round. If they advance it might be the reason why they are eliminated later in the playoffs.
