I am kidding around, but it's still a mystery to me what people see in Austin Theory. He looks unremarkable. He's in great shape, sure, but so is everyone. I watched his promo on the last Raw. Unremarkable. I'm not saying he's bad or anything, he just doesn't stand out to me. But I suppose it's fair to say I haven't seen enough of the guy to make a real assessment.

I remember on old PW when everyone was shouting that Ted DiBiase (The Marine 2, not the Million Dollar Man) was THE FUTURE and how they were convinced he was going to end The Streak and everything.

He was another boring generic CAW man too!

I've been singing Theory's praises since NXT.

He is perhaps the best all-round up-and-comer in the company.  

You'll find guys that are better workers than Theory - take for example, Johnny Gargano, Chad Gable or Tommaso Ciampa. But all three are glorified midgets, and a lot closer to 40 than 20. 

There's guys that are bigger and stronger - however Kross and Knight and both are starring down 40. And, Madcap doesn't have the refinement, nor the character. 

And guys who have an unmatched level of charisma - Montez Ford being a great example, yet he lacks any seriousness to really break out.  

So in Austin Theory's defence - he's 25 years old. He's a better worker than at least 75% of the roster, he's more comfortable in front of the camera than 85% of the roster, and finally, he looks better than 95% of the roster. If you're going to strap a rocket to anyone, it's him. If Roman gives the company another 5 years - Theory potentially take's the mantle as the top guy by 30. At the very least, he falls in Seth's position as a top contender.

This feels less like a defense of a decent talent, and more like a damning of the majority of the current roster. At least it sounds like WWE had finally really realized it's dream of the machine/company/brand/etc. mattering more than the wrestling or any individual wrestler.

And man, what an aspiration... To apparently have so much upside that the 1b goal for five years into the future is being Seth. I know I've started to come around a little on Seth this year, but that doesn't change that Strobe is still 99% right about him.

Unless the WWE plans on waiting another 3 years, absolutely not to Austin Theory. I rate him as a prospect, but we're still in the Rocky Maivia phase of his career. There's an upside there, but let him grow into himself, don't force the push. I don't think there's anyone on the roster who deserves to beat Roman and the only guy who has potential to beat him is Cody, but I have no faith in the WWE or Cody to generate enough interest to go through with the switch. 100% have the Wrestlemania match, but Cody's challenge is rising to that level and considering how he went in AEW where he had all the say in the world and got the entire fanbase to hate him, I don't rate his odds.

Storyline wise, you could do something with Sami but I see him more as a Mick Foley. You can have him rubbing shoulders and give him the quick 'acknowledgement' reign, but he's not the next guy either.

I say we just make LAWLERMANIA a real thing. I know at least one 1.1er who would be on board.

How tall is Theory? I never had him pegged as a particularly large man, I thought he was about the same size as those "glorified midgets" .

Does he really look better than 95% of the roster? I'm picturing most of the WWE roster in my head and they stand out way more than Theory. I see Theory the way I see Finn Balor 5-10 years ago. In extremely good physical condition but otherwise completely bland.

That said, a generic look doesn't have to be so bad. The Rock had a generic tights and boots look, was not particularly jacked in his prime, so what?

But to be fair, Ciampa does look about 70 years old.

I know it's a minor aesthetic adjustment but the army jacket Austin Theory wears now looks cool.
