I realize 2022 isn't quite done yet, and everyone is going to be busy trying to squeeze in as much gaming as possible, over the next several weeks, trying to complete as many games as possible. With that said, however, I’m already looking forward to a new year of gaming, so with that in mind, like the thread title says, what are your most anticipated games of 2023?
As for me, right now the games I’m looking forward to are…
Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe Octopath Traveller II Pikmin 4 Super Bomberman R 2 The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
I know it’s only a handful of games and they are all for the Nintendo Switch, but if I'm being honest, these days my PS4 gets used more for streaming services than actual gaming.

Octopath Traveller II, but I still haven't played the first one more than a few hours and need to. Pikmin 4, but I still haven't played the third one at all and need to. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but I still haven't played Breath of the Wild more than a few hours and need to. Final Fantasy XVI, but...etc. Mina the Hollower Hyper Light Breaker Hollow Knight: Silksong Solium Infernum - LOVE this game but the old version has the worst UI and multiplayer imaginable, so looking forward to this mega-upgraded version. WrestleQuest
There are probably more, but that is it off the top of my head.
Thinking about exciting new games depresses me sometimes because I haven't even had time to play the older ones yet. Time is progressing too fast.

Few things worth note here
-Have yet to play Zelda: Breath of the Wild so no Tears of the Kingdom on this list. Maybe I find time to jump into this game Q1 or Q2 2023. Same with Star Wars: Jedi Knight.
- Not a huge fighting game fan but I will enjoy watching Street Fighter VI over say playing it.
- I really want to see more Master Detective Archives: RainCode which is made by the people behind Danganronpa before putting it on a list.
10) Fire Emblem: Fates (This is one of those games that due to my backlog and the amount of time I have that this may be shelved for maybe the summer or whenever this game does go on sale. I have liked the few Fire Emblem games I played such as FE: Awakening and FE: Three Houses so I think this will scratch the same itch per say)
9) Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (This is straightup only because this is the next Rocksteady project, the people behind Batman: Arkham Asylum/City/Knight. That's about it, not huge on this IP and honestly if it were me, I would have loved a Batman Beyond try by these guys but Rocksteady are fantastic so I think this could surprise)
8) Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake (The 1st on this list to come out, already preordered. I enjoyed Battle for Bikini Bottom so I think given this studio will get to do a fresh platformer and not say a remaster of a 00's platformer, this could be a pleasant surprise. Not a huge Spongebob fan so wondering how much lore & show innuendos get brought up but I am here for the platforming so I think I will be happy)
7) The Plucky Squire (When this was announced a few Nintendo directs ago, I was absolutely sold. This just looks so creative and so ambitious, I really hope the execution is there. For the Pokemon fans out there, James Turner who did art for Generation V-VIII is doing the art for this game.)
6) Hollow Knight: Silksong (This one has been delayed or at the very least hidden away from plain sight for so long, the fact it's coming in 2023 is crazy and for this to even be a Day 1 Game Pass game is magic. I liked Hollow Knight a lot, maybe not as much as others who did every single nook & cranny in the game but this is a def. play for me when this comes out.)
5) Hades II (When this got announced as to being released in 2023 just a few weeks ago, I was already sold. I jumped a bit late on the Hades I bandwagon but I had a swell time with it last year in the late summer. I am curious if this is a full fledged sequel or more of Hades 1.5, wonder what else SuperGiant Games can do with this one. I really hope it sticks in 2023.)
4) Atomic Heart (I don't know what it is but between the gameplay looking almost Doom meets Bioshock and the soundtrack being contributed by Mick Gordon of Doom 2016 and Killer Instinct fame, I cannot wait to jump into this one on FEB 2023. Fact it's Day 1 game pass is the cherry on top. Game just looks so batshit zany and crazy, can't wait to finally jump in. Not even a huge FPS fan but this just seems like it can be really good if there's little to no jank from an unproven studio.)
3) Final Fantasy XVI (This one could either way for me. I love Turn Based RPG aka the older Final Fantasy games. The combat is hit and miss albeit I only played FF7 Remake but the combat was alright for me. What I want to see is how good the story & pacing is for this one. Never got into FFXIV despite alot of people loving the MMORPG and I believe the creators are making this one or at the very least directing this.)
2) Spider Man 2 (Insomniac just recently came out and flat out said they have this on deck for Fall 2023 so unless it's delayed, count me the hell in. I platinumed the 1st Spider Man game and while I didn't do the same for Miles Morales, I still enjoyed it nevertheless. Insomniac are one of the best studios out there so I am absolutely all in for this one. Going to look beautiful too.)
1) Resident Evil 4 Remake (RE4 is one of my favorite games EVER. So when this news dropped, I was all in for this. I really wonder how Capcom captures the magic that RE4 had and how they can even make it better outside of graphics. To me, RE4 has very little flaws and my expectations are going to be ridiculously high.)

I am absolutely on board with Hades II, the first game was great and I'm looking forward to the sequel coming out, I have it on Switch so I'll pick up the second one for that console as well. Seeing Hollow Knight: Silksong in your post Blindy, reminds me that I still need to play through the first game as well (it's high on my wish list and looks great). Resident Evil 4 Remake, Spider-Man 2 and of course Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League are three more reasons that I'm hoping to get a PlayStation 5 sooner rather than later. While I wouldn't say its one of my most anticipated games of 2023, another one I'm really looking forward to is Clive 'N' Wrench, which seems like a decent enough 3D platformer.

I played the life out of all iterations of SFIV so I bought SFV on release day with no prior knowledge of reviews or expected content and it was like getting fisted by Dhalsim without lube
Mechanically it’s the best street fighter there’s been but took them years to get the content right and ended up being my most played game by far.
So cautiously optimistic for SFVI, Tekken 8 looks good also.

He said it is a huge improvement over V. Something about it having parries from SF3 and drive rushes that buff your attacks but risk burnout. I don't play Street Fighter, so didn't care about this, but now I am sharing the knowledge!

I'm a simple man.... Give me Metal Gear Solid 6 without the boring open world of 5 and I will be a really happy unit.
MGS was the game that got me to switch back from Microsoft to Sony last generation.

I don’t know how in the loop you are with the MGS/Kojima situation but I’d say there’s a 0.1% chance that ever happens

The tattered remaining shreds of my dignity and will to live Death Stranding is one of my favorite games. There's something very charming about struggling to deliver packages. The game brings the realism of the environment to you through tasks that would seem trivial in other games, but it makes it the core focus AND MAKES IT FUN. Until once in a while, I do get bored of delivering some of the more trivial packages. Luckily, my wife also loves the game and then takes over and delivers them for me! I don't know what's going on in it either. I don't think it's possible to know what's going on. That's probably the point. Who cares! It looks cool! But yeah, looking forward to Death Stranding 2 way more than to any future MGS series. That series was basically done once Kojima left as far as I am concerned.

After today's event I can probably take Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League off the list. That wasn't really impressive at all.
Still diving into Atomic Heart little so maybe I was higher on that game than most but the Hi-Fi Rush shadowdrop threw a monkey wrench on this year for me.

Still not hyped for much. Dredge looks wild, a lovecraftian fishing game, but really only Mewgenics has me really hyped. Game looks like a great take on a roguelike Final Fantasy Tactics but you breed cats instead of recruiting fights, and the cats can pass on their abilities.

New Elden Ring DLC and Pokemon DLC announced for 2023 in the past few days, a lot of hearts are going to be breaking when it's top 10 list time by the end of the year. Really crowded year. Elden Ring was my GOTY last year and Pokemon Scarlet was 3rd.

Have not played the new Fire Emblem game yet, seems like that got solid reviews but nothing wowing like say FE: Three Houses. Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake fell a little below my expectations but I expected an 8/10 and got a 7.75 game out of it. Atomic Heart was my 3rd most anticipated game of the year and to say I was letdown would be an understatement. I don't think this makes my top 10 by the end of the year honestly. RE4 Remake is the favorite right now to win the (irrelevant) grand prize of my top spot on my 2023 GOTY list but it's left the door open for others to get a shot to win. I really wanted a flawless game and it came very close but no cigar! Blindy's Top 10 GOTY of 2023 thus far...... 1) Resident Evil 4 Remake $40 2) Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty(Game Pass) 3) Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo $16 4) Hi-Fi Rush(Game Pass) 5) Spongebob Squarepants & The Cosmic Shake $20 6) The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog Free 7) Atomic Heart(Game Pass) 8) Pineapple on Pizza(I might post my thoughts in the other thread on this, it took me 20 minutes to get all of the achievements and to "beat the game") Free 9) 10) (Budget spending bitches. Under $100 spent on new games for 2023, that shit is gonna change in May and June though! ) XBOX Game Pass MVP, Target sales Co-MVP. 1-4 I feel will stick in my top 10 considering I am not playing every single new release due to budget and time availability. Just not sure about that order. 5-8 I don't think will make it unless every game just flat out bombs.

I thought I was going to make it until Tears of the Kingdom until I made my next gaming purchase but then this just dropped.
All three Xeno parties teaming up in one last adventure before they wrap the series up.
Will I be able to beat it in under two weeks?

I actually jumped on a Gamestop deal of B1G1 free for both Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Bayonetta 3. I normally would not add to my backlog but Nintendo rarely puts the former on sale. Might play Bayonetta 3 sooner actually.
