I feel like everyone fails the first time. I swear I did better the first time (which I failed) then the second time (which I passed). I think they do it to assure you spend more money to come back and to make sure they don't have the responsibility of being the person to pass someone on their first try.
They ask you at the beginning how many times you've done it. The first time I had a black lady who obviously wasn't feeling my swag and looked out the passenger window the whole time. Then made me parallel park on broken concrete. The second guy was an older white man who I believe wasn't even paying attention and/or sleeping.

The reason I failed because 1. I didn't know how to defrost. 2. There was a 100 meter reverse portion, and I had no clue how to do it. The lady told me to pull over, turn the car all the way to the right, and then back-up. And I was really confused on what to do. I didn't even think I was supposed to fix the car back before I actually backed up. What the heck is a 100 meter reverse? The way you're describing it, it sounds like a three point turn. Maybe.

You'll get it next time Dazz. Like everyone else, I have no clue about this 100 meter reverse thing. Who has ever reversed 100 straight meters while behind the wheel.
As for 3 point turns, I mainly used those when I took a wrong turn or have a really tight turn to make in some side streets

When I was a teenager, I was never interested in driving and to this day it is still something I really don't like to do. My parents wanted me to get it at age 16, but it was two years later the day after graduation when I finally got it. I will admit that I failed the first time during the parallel driving portion of the test. It wasn't my fault, so I didn't beat myself up about. The instructor was down my throat the entire time, and told me to go faster even though I was going at the correct speed. Seeing as I'm constantly in Cleveland or Pittsburgh, I have to parallel park quite often.

So, I do that, and I'm just turning all the way into the grass. I try fixing it, and trying again, but I had not a single clue what I was doing and was utterly lost and confused. What I was apparently supposed to do was stop on the side of the road and turn the wheel all the way to the right. Then before I went into reverse, I had to turn the wheel to left, but not to where it's locked, and then back up. Then as I slowly back up, I'm supposed to turn the wheel back right for a bit, and then get the wheel back in normal position and continue backing up.

When take a driving school over the summer learn to drive in the age of 16 I have no experience of driving when I get in the driving seat of the course with my instructor and another student I was pretty much nervous I told him I haven't drive a car before so he teach me how to drive in the parking lot at first to help get some experience.
I passed my written test the first time to get my permit at that time, and then go to school. I didn't failed I did passed barley passed because that one last day I was behind which I have no idea how I got behind in the first damn place when I go to the driving school every day except for weekends since they closed on weekends at that time I haven't missed it but suddenly I got behind so I have to take three exams in one day. It is such a bitch to take three tests in one day I got no choice to take three exams the dam very day I have to stay in driving school which I take over the summer study, and then take the exam once I finished one study the second exam and then take it again and do the same for the third one. It is such a bitch I barley passed the test well I don't remember what grades I have for a couple of them I believe one of them I got a C but that's it.
Of course I have another test which is the big driving course test thing which held at the parking lot next to the mall where I live which you got to parallel parking, learn to drive between the cones, or some shit, and some other things I can't remember. I did passed the driving course test. I passed all my tests and I able to get my driver license but I didn't get it until I turn 18 gotta wait few years later because one my mom was overprotect at that time plus the owner's wife who owns the driving school at the time say something to my mom which got her hesitate to let me get my license it some bullshit, and cold blooded I am not go much detail in that just like I say it's cold blooded, and bullshit the lady was a bitch. As I say I didn't get my license until 18 so I was basically hold back until then but still have my permit.

I'm glad I didn't test where Dazz is. That's sounds as confusing as a CCR music video not based around Vietnam.

At 34 I still don't have my full license. I had my beginners for about 5 years and did take one drivers test that I flunked. I was so nervous that In didn't notice the light was green and ended up speeding up after noticing and ended up going to fast threw a school zone. I was in one of the driver training cars so the instructor slammed on the brakes as the passenger side had them. Since then I've worked a pretty low paying job and never could afford a car and simply biked everywhere. Although now I am going to be trying to get my license in the very near future as my father is close to legally blind now from diabetes and my mother needs knee surgery and would need someone to drive her around while she would be healing.

Failed the first time due to unclear instructions ("turn right at the intersection after this one" when she should have said "turn right at the light" / there was a tiny alley right before the stoplight) and didn't tell me I failed due to that til after we got back.
I live in a city where traffic and parking is so impacted that if you can't parallel park you quite frankly shouldn't drive here, period. You will at some point have to squeeze into a space maybe five inches longer than your car, and do it quickly before everyone starts honking at you.
My motorcycle license experience was quite different -- it was one three hour in-class session during the week, and two three-hour practice sessions in a parking lot over the weekend. You get a certificate basically saying you know how to not crash (it's expected you'll get proficient later), then you take the DMV written test and you have your license. One of the questions went along the lines of "let's say the police try to pull you over and instead you run, in the chase an innocent person is badly injured. Which of these is most likely to happen to you once you're caught?"

I failed my first time. It was kind of bullshit though.
I was approaching a crosswalk and a kid ran out in front of me. You don't have to stop at crosswalks in Ontario unless otherwise specified, and this kid ignored a crossing guard who was telling him to stay put. When he ran for it, the crossing guard threw up her stop sign and I had to slam on my brakes.
Failed on the spot. The instructor told me I should have yielded to the crossing guard. I argued I didn't have to because she was standing on the sidewalk and would have stayed there had the kid not ignored her, but the instructor didn't care.
I went back a week later and got a perfect score. Had a different instructor who asked how I failed the first time. I told him and he was like "that's stupid, I wouldn't have failed you."
Anyway, you'll get it next time Dazz. I promise you'll be less nervous your 2nd go.

When I had to parallel park on my road test I lucked out. I had to "imagine" a vehicle is parked and I had to parallel park behind it. I basically paralleled parked on an empty street.

Congrats Dazz! Feels great to get that monkey off your back and there's nothing quite like those initial drives on your own.
How did it all go down? Talk us through the preparation and the test itself?

Mistress, @ness, I'm not of drinking age anyway, plus I prefer my beer to be the Root kind, not the alcoholic kind. Big Pete, Well, all the practicing I did in the past two weeks, while helpful, didn't really pan out. I knew a guy who went to the same place and just practiced the route because it was the same area I would have done when I took the test the first time. So that's what I had been practicing, and got it mastered and felt good. There were some hiccups at the start. The DMV needed the car registration again, so I go to get it, and boom, no registration. I call my dad, he never touched it, I never moved it. There's anger and panic around me as I thought I couldn't take my test. The car I took was the only car available, and the car I was most comfortable in. Thankfully the DMV people gave me time to find it and held my spot, and thankfully I live two minutes from the DMV, so I hurried home and after a while, my sister remembered she needed to use the registration from that car for her car. Why? I have no clue. But I found the registration in her car and went to take my test. This is when the nerves really got going. I got the same lady who failed me last time, but I felt better because I practiced the way to go. I get all my lights and the defrost part right. Things are starting out fine. She tells me to take a right out the DMV, and things seemed to be going as planned. But instead of going straight for a few minutes, before turning into some random empty street to practice everything like last time, she made me switch lanes and take a left at an intersection. I did all of that fine, but my confidence went 100 to 0 real quick as I realized this was not what I planned for. Luckily for me, things went fine for the most part, I got the 100 meter back up thing mostly correct, nailed the 3 point turn, and nailed the parallel parking, though I got a little nervous, and sped up and hit the curb, but because I only touched the curb and not the fences that you got to park in between, I was able to make a simple adjustment and get the parallel parking correct. Once I did that, the test was over, and I pulled in a parking space. She started listing all the things I did wrong and needed to work on, and in that moment the only thing going through my head was failure. But after 30 seconds of silence, she just tells me that I'll be able to get my licence, and I never felt so happy and relieved. Now here I am today, finally able to drive on my own.

Congrats Dazz! Glad it only took you one more try. I'm pretty sure if I failed again, I would have to wait about 60 days before taking it again. Did not want that. Also, thanks for all the congratulations and support everyone.

BTW, who fails a drivers test? Never known anyone who did that before.
