Dude don't fucking scare us like that. Yeah, Baker might have an aneurysm. Seriously though RIP to a man who had a big influence on many careers and was nearly the main man of the WWF while Vinnie Mac was completing his service to the state.

Fucking hell, I thought this was gonna be about Jeff Jarrett. I'm glad it's not, still though, my thoughts and prayers to the Jarrett family.

Worst gimmick on PW.
Let's talk about the original Double J for a minute. Jerry Jarrett would be a Hall of Famer in my book if all he did was sire Jeff. But he did so much more. He kept rinky dink little Memphis hot for 10 years. Drawing thousands to the Mid South Coliseum every single week in order to survive is a remarkable feat. WWF had it easy in comparison. To achieve this Memphis had the wildest, wooliest wrestling tv show in the country. That frantic STUFF HAPPENING in every segment Attitude Era/MNW style of television was birthed in Memphis. Jarrett then held on for another 10 years during which time Memphis became the last territory standing. Again, he did what he needed to in order to survive, including letting his top star Jerry Lawler work WWF, and later entering into a partnership with the Fed. Funny thing is it took years for ROH & TNA to outdraw depressing, dying day Memphis. Point is Jerry Jarrett was a survivor.
Just about everyone who was anyone in the 80s & 90s passed through Memphis during Jarrett's watch- Hogan, Savage, Austin, Rock, Sting, Warrior, Funk, Foley, Undertaker, Kane, Scott Steiner, Hall, Michaels, etc. etc. More than a few future headliners got their first big break working for Jarrett. When Vince McMahon was threatened with prison in the mid 90s it was Jerry Jarrett who he allegedly hand picked to run the company should he be sent to the slammer. Legend has it Jerry Jarrett was also paid six figures by WCW to check in once a week with constructive criticism of the promotion. Meaning he was getting help from both major promotions during their wrestling war. Absolute legend. When TNA started up in 2002 I remember a lot of fans who were starved for an alternative being excited because "Jerry Jarrett never lost a dime in the wrestling business" with their logic being "surely he wouldn't back a loser!" Well, those excited fans were right, but not in the way they intended. Jerry Jarrett helped start TNA. Then he sold at the first opportunity to come out ahead. Hmm....now I know where Jeff acquired those GOAT tier carny skillz.
RIP Jerry Jarrett

To those that aren't familiar with Jerry's contributions, I would go back to 1986. Bill & Buddy were running wild in Memphis. They set their sights on young Jeff Jarrett. Leaving a broken, helpless Jerry in tears.

Ed Can't go wrong with the Hawaiian Flash angle either. Jerry plays a big role looking a whole lot like my dad on the grainy John McAdam tape I originally watched it on.
