Jeff went before the judge yesterday and plead no contest to all three charges. He was sentenced to 38 days, time served. Case is over.
Turns out the breatherizer showed signs of malfunction when administered and while the first test on Jeff was .313, second test errored out, and they were unable to get it to work properly. Without the second sample, the overall test itself was invalid. The device also did not get the monthly inspection required to verify accuracy. A motion to strike the breath test from record was entered Tues but before it was resolved, Jeff plead no-contest on Weds in exchange for time served because the DA likely had no case anymore so cut him a deal to just end the case if they could do it in a way that did not make them look bad.
Other parts of the sentence:
Two years probation
$4586 in fines and court fees
A 10-year suspension of his license in Florida and states that share the suspension with Florida
Two years with an interlock device and 90-day vehicle impoundment
Court-mandated DUI school or drug rehab program (already completed)

Matt said Jeff is the best he seen him at in a long time. No word from Matt on whether or not Jeff wants to wrestle again though. Also no word yet if Tony will take him back. He was not found guilty, nor did he plead guilty, but the result is the same.

Doesn't Matt always say that shortly after Jeff does right for a little while.

Interesting story c, thanks for sharing. Doesn't Matt always say that shortly after Jeff does right for a little while. It's probably true. I imagine Jeff cycles in and out of good times and bad times. He has his come to Jesus moment and feels great, before relapsing. A tragic cycle. I just hope that he's able to break the cycle one day. Maybe wrestling and what it does to his body and mind is just not right for him? All wild speculation of course, none of us really know Jeff. Matt does. I'm glad he's doing well.

Yup, Jeff cycles in and out this tuff and has for decades.
It sound like he lucked out massively with the breathalyzer test malfunctioning.
Frankly AEW does not need him IMO. They should just sign and build up Komander. He is more talented than peak Jeff, and a much better dude.

People are saying he is the next Mil Mascaras. That is how over the dude is getting.
Never seen anyone do what he does. And he is not a one trick pony either, he normally break out something no one seen before in each of his matches which is just unreal. Plus he connects with the crowd very easily.
For a fraction of the cost, they get basically someone who does everything peak Jeff can do, without the drug abuse or attitude. Sure he never headlined in WWE, but frankly, that is all really Jeff has going for him these days, people liking him for his past work.

I do wonder what Jeff has left to offer.
When he came in, I get the sense the core AEW audience were for it because they got one over the WWE, it made Matt more valuable and of course there was a dream match with Darby. However after the DUI and his erratic behaviour what can they really do with him? Have him pop a quarter on Dynamite? If you put him on PPV it's really just going to rub fans the wrong way whereas an improntu Hardy's match where Jeff teams with his brother one time could at least endear him to the crowd.
And yeah WTF did you volunteer to do PR for Komander, c? Two threads now in less than a week that's all come back to pumping this guy's tires. I'm sure by the time Dynamite comes around it'll be three.

I assume others will make the noise about him after he is on TV. There is a good reason this guy is making massive waves with indy and lucha fans.

Matt is not worth much in this version of Matt without Jeff. So I wonder does Jeff continue to abuse his body in the ring for Matt.
As for the Jeff, Darby is already the Jeff replacement. I can't comment on Komender yet but got a feeling Fenix would still be a better person for it

Matt is in a good spot right now, as he is working with younger guys on Dark mostly. His program with Ethan Page is actually a good story too, and one of the few programs in AEW that seems to have coherent longer term booking.
Darby IMO suffers the same issues as Jeff. He is a one or two bigs spots guy. Reason someone like Fenix or Komander should replace him, is both are lucha vets, well versed in the style, and not just focused on high spots. Fenix however is best used with Death Triangle and at the top of the card. Komander is a mid or lower card guy that can add excitement down the card in multi-man contests and does not actually have to win.
Curious if Komander busts out any of Fenix's moves tomorrow as he is clearly a huge Fenix fan. The rope run was originally a Fenix thing. Komander just took it to a different level. He also breaks out some of Pac's old moves upscaled like the imploding phoenix splash.
