It’s worse in the NBA.

I get it from a front office and owner perspective, there’s very little incentive to go 8-8 and pick 15th every year, so why not bottom out the roster and try and get a blue chip guy.

And players never try to lose so at least that’s something. They always try.

Also if Young turns into an elite quarterback - that meaningless win is going to haunt that franchise forever.

Yeah, I don’t get it. It’s so weird to me to have a sport where teams are trying to lose. I’m not trying to be soapbox-y about it, it’s just really strange coming from outside the US and that system. Love the NFL, but tank/draft discourse is not for me.

So serious question if Young turns into an elite quarterback - as a Texan fan what would mean more? That last win of the year that really meant nothing or 15 years of elite quarterback play?

I get that it seems wrong to try and lose but it’s makes sense for everyone but the players.

I would have much rather the Packers went 2-15 last year and picked in the top 3 than 8-9 and pick 15th. Give me Will Anderson or an absolute haul to trade down.

Didn’t the Jets lose out on drafting Trevor Lawrence because they won a meaningless game towards the end of that season that dropped them to the second pick? Just imagine how great that team would be set up right now with Trevor at QB instead of drafting Zach Wilson At number 2.

Yup but I don't know if Lawrence would have worked in NYJ under Mike LaFleur, feel like he got into a good spot with Peterson in JAX year 2. 

Jets went 2-15 and that somehow wasn't good enough for the 1st overall pick. It took 16 straight losses by Jacksonville to do it, the only way the Jets would have gotten to pick ahead of them was if they went 0-17. They beat the Rams and Browns back to back to negate that.

Will Levis Vegas odds on favorite to be the No.2 pick this Thursday. Oh mah lawd.

This has Stingley over Sauce written all over it, especially if the Colts luck into Stroud.

If it doesn't happen by Friday when the Jets pick at 42 & 43, then expect this deal to bleed into June. Rodgers knows the son of Paul Hackett's playbook by heart practically and he will show up once training camp starts(And he won't check into a preseason game, that's the Zach Wilson show). 

I would be stunned if a deal isn't struck. 42, CONDT 3rd that can go as high as a 2 in 2024 and if Rodgers retires, Jets get GB 2025 3rd or 4th. Something like that. Maybe a swap of 13 and 15 too if Jaxon Smith Njigba is there and GB fears the Pats will grab him, which helps the Jets out to keep him out of a divisional rival.

No way Paris Johnson escapes NYJ at 13, he's the ideal pick for the Jets. Him, Broderick Jones and Skoronski most likely. Darnell Wright too. 

Jets have to come away with a T and C within the 1st 2 rounds. Joe Tippman may have the honors of getting his butt clenched by Rodgers on the regular in round 2.

Deal is in Blindy. You weren’t that far off but we swap firsts this year which means we get first crack at the OT.

I love that the 1st next year is really easily obtainable.

Packers won that, 65% of the snaps means guaranteed 1st next year.

I knew the 13 an 15 would be a swap, means you guys jump NE for JSN.

Well I mean he does get banged up a lot so it protects in terms of injury.

Not having a playoff or win clause in there is a win though because if Rodgers plays like he did last year that could still be a meddling season for the Jets.

Time will tell but I’m satisfied with the trade overall.

The fact that this didn't happen sooner killed NYJ here.To me there's no reason to give up 13 for 15 and have two OT needy teams pick ahead of you. That's the equivalent of Knicks giving up Mozgov in the Melo deal just because DEN GM at the time Masai Uriji said so since he he knew he'd get it.

Douglas rarely makes a awful trade but value wise this is up there. If Zach Wilson was only so much better two years in this isn't even up for debate.

As you can see by the Jets players reactions,they had to make this move. NFL also probably put pressure on our shit owner with the schedule release looming and Amazon/ESPN/NBC all wanting the guarantee of Jets with QAnon.

Speaking of QAnon, at the end of the day Schefter still got to break the news. absolute trollfest by the Packers FO to give him the win to prevent Rodgers from feeding James Jones or AJ Hawk or whomever.

Also going to laugh at the Packers getting 13 only to trade back down to like 20 once JSN is off the board.

The lone best thing out of this is I don't ever have to see Zach Jacobsen or Peter Bukowski ever again on my Twitterfeed. Take it from me as a big time homer that those two are absolute A+ homers to the _th degree. Sucks to see them get vindicated.

This just goes back to an inept owner in Woody Johnson wanting to get his prize toy but he didn't learn from Favre in 2008 and won't here why this is a disaster.

This buys Saleh, Joe Douglas, Hackett etc. more than a year for sure. You don't go GM/HC hiring if you don't have a 1st round pick to offer. The fact that this regime is getting another year regardless of what will happen is pretty scary, makes me think Douglas and Saleh know they aren't in a "playoffs or bust" mantra to keep their gigs because why would Rodgers stay year 2 if all of the guys he likes are gone(Barring a Hackett to HC disaster). 

I just want Quinnen Williams now signed as the next priority.

#JetsTwitter is the reason why I post like 100 times every week on PW despite me being the lone Jets fan on the forum. Obnoxious is being nice. This is a ridiculous fanbase that goes game by game and goes hyperbole over everything. They are like what I was in 2010-2011 but maybe more nastier. To see how quickly they fell off on Zach Wilson in a 2 month span just says it all, most of them are just mindless & want instant gratification. The playoff drought has gotten them even more rabid. I didn't think they were fully bad until a few seasons ago, now it's just a clown show. You have to dig deep to find quality Jets content on twitter, sometimes it just isn't worth it. 

He has every right to brag though, this is a haul. Now Packers actually have to hit the picks though, we'll hold our breath on that one

To me though it’s also free money. Either way Rodgers wasn’t going to play for the Packers this year so we have some free swings.

Going to suck rooting against you and Rodgers this year but I want a top pick. Or two top picks if Love isn’t the guy.

I love the takes coming out about how the Packers are going to be one of the worst teams in the league next year as if Rodgers carried us last year. He was average last year and wildly inconsistent - it’s not like he carried us to eight wins.

It’s a solid roster and if Love is remotely good then we are a WC contender, if we hit on a few draft picks then even better.

The sky isn’t falling in Green Bay. Had this happened going into the 2022 season then I’d be far more concerned.

I 100% wouldn’t be shocked if the Jets and Packers finish with similar records. Right around the 8-10 win mark.

Early rumors out of Packer land is that the insistence on the pick swap to 13 is to try and secure either JSN or Paris Johnson Jr.

Been seeing people like Tony Pauline(Not the best source admittedly) say there will be a huge run on OTs early where Johnson/Skoronski/Wright/Jones may all be gone even before the Jets pick at 13 pre Rodgers trade. Saw someone saying Arizona is targeting Johnson as high as #3 and that his floor is Chicago at 9.

Makes me think NYJ is trading down a little from 15. Maybe someone jumps Washington for a CB which is actually where I had the Packers trade down.

I actually think the Jets made this move with maybe a little bit of understanding they have 1-2 suitors lined up who may look to trade up. Maybe the Chiefs get their rumored trade up as Zay Flowers has been working out with Mahomes and maybe the Jets get a future 1st there by going from 15 to 31 or whatever.

Feels like KC really wants Zay Flowers and he won't make it to 31, just there's a lot of teams hunting for him. Baltimore, Minnesota. Mahomes probably wants him if he can get him. Going up 16 spots is huge but I assume maybe NYJ has had dialogue with other teams here.
