A-Rod's a New York Jet. Blindy , WAKE UP!!! The fact that he wants to actually come here pretty much meant that A) Nathaniel Hackett was hired as the closer to get Rodgers on board. B) Allen Lazard getting the deal was part of the negotiation C) Seeing the Jets in scrimmage in August 2021 and seeing them in the regular season probably made him a believer D) Get that money upfront

I still preface this by saying this is a bandaid at best and sooner or later, the Jets need to find their go to guy for years which is why I want Zach Wilson to still get a shot, albeit he has not earned the true QB1 title based off play. I still would not do the Aaron Rodgers deal BUT
You have to remember how bad this Jets roster was in the late 2010's since Joe Douglas took over. We had so many guys use the Jets as leverage(Kirk Cousins notably) in the past to get more money elsewhere,
we had Tyreek Hill basically choose division rival Miami as recently as last year due to "state taxes and better place to play for meaningful games"
This team understandbly, was considered a joke by so many players so in that regard I am happy for the FO and for guys like Quinnen Williams who have been here since 2019 to see a high profile guy actually want to help right the ship.
You had guys on rookie contracts like Jamal Adams want out if they aren't given the money upfront. Guys like Leveon Bell openly admit they took this because it was the best financial deal out there.
I still don't think this ends really well but it actually feels good that the hard work, despite not making the playoffs or have a winning season recently that finally someone actually wants to play for the team. With Rodgers, he has all the money in the world but he really feels like he can etch out a legacy in NY.
So I get why so many Jets fans are happy today, because it's been a really, really, really, really long 13 years of misery since the end of the AFC Title run that the 2010 Jets had. A 10 win non playoff season in 2015 where we lost the last game to our ex head coach's Bills is the shining moment. 2 win seasons, multiple 4 win seasons, numerous head coaches & QBs gone, in-house fighting amongst players, guys coming in late, a shit beat reporter(Manish Mehta) consistently trying to cut the knees out of any positive thing going within the franchise, numerous failed top picks and franchise QBs(J Allen, Mahomes, Watson) we glanced over. I get why Jet fans are happy today. I've just been broken as a fan and I need to see glory to truly believe it but until then, I hold skeptism but I give Aaron/QAnon Rodgers credit for wanting to join this team. You can't take that way from him.

I would really love to know what the compensation they are disagreeing on is? I assume this years 1st is on the table so if it’s beyond that why just not make it a conditional pick.
#13 this year and a conditional 3rd next year that turns into a 2nd or 1st based on the Jets success. Just get something done so everyone can move on.

I also think who covers the Rodgers deal and how much. If GB is covering a majority or half of it, then they want to be compensated and if NYJ is covering a bulk of it, they don't want to give heavy picks too.

You guys see Aaron Rodgers texted Adam Schefter “lose my number. Nice try though.” 😂
You know…. I might like Aaron Rodgers on the Jets the more I think about it. I’m so ready for him to troll the NY media. That’s going to be a blast.

Sheldon Rankins on a 1 year deal to the Texans is a good move. Health is the big issue going back to his Saint days but he can really stuff the run and was big for the Jets last year, Jets also lost Nathan Sheppard who is a depth piece so the Jets really need DT, maybe as early as round 3.

In 2008 Packers moved away from a HOF QB to turn to a first-round QB who'd been waiting for 3 years. The HOFer was traded to Jets. In 2023 Packers will move away from a HOF QB to turn to a first-round QB who'd been waiting for 3 years. The HOFer will be traded to Jets. Jordan Love to the Jets in 2038

I would want nothing to do with Davis to be honest and it wouldn’t make sense for the Packers to take his cap number back considering trading Rodgers actually counts more against our cap than keeping him does. It’s why it makes sense for the Packers to dig in their heels. They don’t have to trade Rodgers until the season actually starts - it costs them nothing to play hard ball with the Jets who have now put themselves in the unenvious position of appeasing Rodgers ego and they’ve already begun that process. Also knowing the personality that Rodgers is, it’s a pretty tenuous start to be lowballing offers for him and insinuating he’s not worth valuable picks.

Juju and Belichick is such an odd fit man. Bill O Brien is going to give him the Hopkins talk he gave him a few seasons ago. What a weird signing, why not sign Myers to that type of deal?

It does come off as bad business if you have been talking for weeks and have deals in place only to balk off them as soon as other QB options go off the market. Also becomes a distraction for the GB players to have this giant elephant in the room and looks bad from a player/agent perspective.

Jimmie Ward on a good deal to pair with Pitre, Texans building defense up a bit.

King Jamaal Williams is now a New Orlean Saint. Man I just don't know if I can keep Kamara. Between Derek Carr coming over, Taysom Hill hanging around and now a guy who gets more TDs than Pokemon, this smells vulturing TDs off Kamara written all over it in New Orleans. Add the looming suspension, however long that will be and this might be it. Just need to hear the good word on Breece Hall or maybe Garrett Wilson, one of the two rookie Jets might break up the band.

This Pats offseason maybe outside of resigning J. Jones is perplexing. First they forego the money of paying Jakobi Myers to go sign Juju Smith-Schuster who will be on his 3rd team in 3 years due to various reasons and now they sign James Robinson to a 2 year 10 mill deal despite maybe being able to sign Damien Harris to a similar price if not better. Robinson could not even beat out Bam Knight or even Ty Johnson on the Jets roster depth chart.
I just want to see the look of Belichick when Juju starts to do his TikTok videos in the locker room. "TURN THAT SHIT OFF JUJU". As I mentioned before, we're 1 incident away from Bill O'Brien giving the "You can't have ya baby mamas around the training camp DeAndre, how many times have I told you this?" speech.
