I think Devils in 7 again. Carolina is tough but that goalie was so good for NJ. I think taking the under in this series will be money too.

I think the Kraken win it in 7 again also. I just feel like their Cinderella story continues.

Reading these advanced stats tonight is just depressing. Both games 1 and 2 the Leafs were above 85% on the deserve to win scale, they’ve had 36 high dangers chances compared to Florida’s 19, and Bobrovsky is stopping FIVE goals above expected.

The hockey gods are ruthless.

Oh and probably no supplemental discipline to Bennet for slamming Knies’ skull into the ice and giving him a concussion. Rookie scores his first NHL goal and is playing amazingly and the league won’t even stick up for him. Why the fuck would anyone want to play in this league with shit like that happening.

Bennett got a 5k fine for the cross check on Michael Bunting. Nothing for concussing Knies by literally slamming his head into the ice. Oh and Knies is out for the series.

For those keeping score, Matthews did the same cross check at last year’s outdoor game and was suspended for 2 games. And he did it by accident.

Professional league here, folks. Rookies can get concussions from assaults and players can get boarded and break their neck and the league won’t do anything. All good. No problems here. Fucking joke.

Through two games so far, Matthews has 2 points and none are goals. The bigger issue is Tavares and Nylander aren’t doing shit. Nylander is being aggressive but he can’t score for shit. They’ve scored four goals so far but have also had FOUR scoreless periods in two games.

It’s wild because with the minimum amount I do know of hockey, they look like they’re outplaying the Panthers in every game so far but just can’t score.

I’m not giving up on them yet. They can just as easily steal these next two road games. Plus imagine the horrors of having to watch the Panthers face the Hurricanes in a series to go to the Stanley Cup. There’s no way that would be interesting for anyone and there’s no way that would be good for the NHL as a whole. Imagine that series and Vegas/Dallas. Talk about yuck.

They really need the Leafs and Oilers to get to the Cup so they can promote the shit out of Matthews vs McDavid and Toronto vs Edmonton. It could do wonders for the sport like the star power did wonders for women’s college basketball in March.

Forecheck, dominate the neutral zone, cause turnovers, and delivered a couple of huge clean hits in the first period. Their defense by all five guys on the ice leads to their scoring chances and that is when their skill shines. Devils came back in the first round down 2-0, but this is not against a garbage team. The Hurricanes team is highly motivated and is showing up in the playoffs. They do everything right. And, with Anderson in net who is definitely the best of the three goalie options as much as I want the Leafs in the Finals, I do not see any team having an answer against Carolina.

The only gripe I have against Gallant is his inability to make adjustments. Last season up 2-0 and winning games 3 against Tampa. All of a sudden Rangers lost that game and the next three and were eliminated. Gallant did not make any adjustments while Tampa did.

This season again not making adjustments during the game and throughout the series. Moving Zibanejad off the Ovechkin power play spot was a dumb move.

I also did not like Gallant yelling and Trocheck on the bench during game 7. Not the appropriate time during a do or die game. Why would Trocheck want to do anything different while getting yelled in such an important game especially with the entire team playing awful.

For whatever reason the Rangers were not motivated during their playoff series. During the series and throughoutbthe regular aeason the Rangers were either all in and looked unstoppable or a beer league team in the lowest division. It makes no sense and I will never understand it. Other than the lack of making adjustments I blame the players for such a bad display of hockey against NJ. It looks like the rumored coach is Quenneville.

TIMO MEIER HAS ZERO POINTS in NINE PLAYOFF GAMES. No assists, no goals. If we go back into the season, he hasn’t had a point in 10 games.
