Rigged or not, it’s probably for the best. Hockey needs an injection of life in it and if cities like Chicago are thriving in the NHL, it’s a good thing.

1975 Islanders (Quarterfinals)
2010 Flyers (Eastern Semifinals)
2014 Kings (Western Quarterfinals)

All of these teams went all the way to win.  Heck, the '75 Isles almost did it twice.  They were down 3-0 to the Flyers in the semifinals, and made it to a Game 7, before being defeated.

We lost in overtime, so yes.  We could've won it in regulation.

But also, don’t go down 3-0 and leave a series up to chance.

Don’t go 1-5 on home ice when you spent the regular season earning home ice advantage.

Don’t roll Justin Holl out there like he’s your second best defenceman.

Don’t watch your promising superstar rookie get dummied then do nothing to reciprocate.

Don’t keep doing the same offensive plays when they aren’t working and you’re getting goalied. Dirty goals still count.

Don’t forget how to play defence when your backup is in net.

I could go on but whatever. At least they didn’t wilt and die like previous years. They just got out-played. It happens. I hope they roll it back a couple more times and don’t overreact.

People just forgot how good Florida was last year before they fell trap to the curse. They only got better by getting Tkachuk this season.

My wife made a good point watching the Seattle/Dallas game on Saturday. The crowd was chanting "let's go Kraken" and she said "they missed a good opportunity to have a unique chant and say 'Let's Get Kraken!'"

Seattle & Vegas making the WCF already would be hilarious.

I saw two stats that blew my mind last night: This is already Vegas' 6th playoffs and they have made the Western Conference Finals 4 times. Also Cassidy becomes the THIRD coach to reach the WCF with Vegas. This franchise is fucking ridiculous. I seriously can't believe it.

Lots of mopey faces in northern Alberta today. General vibe is they knew the team was going to have a hard time surviving on offence alone, but they hoped they could get by Vegas because everyone feels whoever came out of that series is going to kill Dallas or Seattle.

While I agree, I also think this year’s finals is going to be the East’s to lose. Carolina and Florida are both incredibly opportunistic, and have great defence. No matter which team wins the ECF, they are going to play with their food in the finals. At least they SHOULD. Who fuckin knows anymore.

Vegas and Edmonton are both built like the Leafs, in that they have excellent forwards that can ruin your day when things are going their way, but when it isn’t the team is screwed because they have nothing to fall back on. All Florida or Carolina would have to do is shut down McDraivid and it’s over. Vegas did exactly that and look.

Anyway, go Kraken.
