I didn't see any comment about his hating to promo but yeah, he in particular *has* to up his mic game if he's going to be a somebody. He doesn't have a standout look/presence like Darby or a crazy must-see skillset or even notable size -- wrestling-wise he's just another guy.

To be fair, I liked Double J back in the day. I just thought he was too old/washed to go on this run he's been on. I'm so happy I was wrong.

TNA stuff all felt like him forcing himself on top.  Before that WWE gave him a lame gimmick for most of his run.

Now he a lot more chill, and gets to do his own gimmick, he is a lot easier to get behind.  

He was always amazing in Memphis and his WCW run was good IMO.
