With E3 practically dead(They tried to rise from the dead but none of the big companies were having it), everybody is going to do their own thing. While it's a week prior to June, Sony is starting it up first in about 15 minutes with their 1+ long showcase. 

I just want a date for Spider Man 2, if we get it this year, it's going to be amazing. With RE4 Remake out, Spidey 2 now stands as my most anticipated game. 

Not sure what else to expect, not going to have pie in the sky for the expectations but still. 

Insanely wild prediction: they capitalize on the show hype and announce The Last of Us III

Normal prediction: we get a Spider-Man 2 preview and a bunch of games that will look cool but nobody is going to care about.

So far prediction #2 is looking good.

Phantom Blade 0 looks absolutely dope. Holy shit.

The game by GRIS looked lovely and the Journey one looked nice too and this Squareenix one looks absolutely wacky AF. :lol: This is Balan Wonderworld on LSD.

Thoughts:

A lot of good 3rd party stuff so if you went in looking for that, this is a win. It was a good show presentation wise as well.

The problem is if you wanted Sony 1st party stuff and wanted to get some new juicy pieces, nah this was mid. Heading in, FFXVI and Spider Man 2 were the two big guns that are exclusive to PS5 and heading out....it's practically the same. Maybe I am not heavy into PSVR2 and the like but this furthers the notion that you don't really need a PS5 if you have a PC or XBOX Series console. I wanted more from the 1st party output.

The games can be a bit repetitive, however, I'm excited for a third Cat Quest game.

I've actually got the first two from a sale, like $2 each, but I still haven't played them.

Digital only, BLEH. Think that's a terrible decision. 

Discless is the future. And it should be encouraged as it means now there is real incentive to keep the old systems online and the games up for download, instead of killing support for old systems that is the norm now.

Xbox likely is moving to an enteral support system now for Xboxes, Nintendo and Sony should follow suit.

According to Nintendo Life (the Nintendo news site I use), it'll be on there as well. Which makes sense, considering the other two games are on the Switch as well.

Issue is both XBOX and PS biggest sellers are the Series X and PS5 Disc versions. Seems silly to just say "F it" and go digital within the first few years of the current cycle.

This is Epic Games telling Remedy to go do this to have their game(s) funded since they are PC first and focus in on digital sales. 

Oh did not realize this was Epic Games. That makes total sense. They want exclusive rights to publication for 6 to 12 months, and locking shit down to digital only is how they would do that on consoles.

That said, the move to digital only is likely next generation. Industry has been moving that way for years. Eventually will move to cloud within a few generations.

Then again, if this game utterly fails to sell on consoles, that will send a very strong message that console fans are not cool with this move.

I don't know if I could go digital only, as I'm very much a collector. I like going to Game Stop and PNP Games, interacting with the people that work there, being able to have something to show off, etc.

I'm already there mostly. Pretty much since like 2007ish I was a Gamefly guy. A few years ago I finally stopped the subscription because I wasn't busting through games like Blindy so paying full MSRP (thanks Nintendo) actually was cheaper than Gameflying a game for 2-3 months. When I bought my switch I got Octopath Traveler and I never bothered to play it. Did some Gameflying but mostly just digital. Obviously I barely game these days, but that also is another feather in digital's cap.

It is interesting to watch. The retail foot print for shelf space is ever shrinking and since PS5 is/was (haven't looked in ages) hard to find... I just sorta forget they even sell games in stores.

My boss reluctantly ordered new FNAF of Pops in, she was worried they wouldn’t sell as the last ones we had sold out slowly multiple times and then suddenly stopped. The new ones we’ve had for 3 weeks and they’ve sold out every single time we’ve received stock. Plus get asked for more merch related to it all the time. Incredibly popular with children, I reckon a movie will boost it even more.

Looks like both Diablo and Amnesia were hit releases this month so people gonna be hyped for gaming.
