They've been to Washington a couple times between now and then.  But it's their first trip back to Capital One since the debut.

I hate that stipulation, if Adam Cole wins he gets a title shot. I think the WWE did it recently too with someone, but it's a AEW trope.

I guess it beats running a gauntlet...

I'm happy to see Skye get a title shot, even though she has no chance in hell, in winning the belt.

Eliminator matches I like. Allows a sneaky win to beat a champ, but then the champ can crush them back when it matters.  As long as most eliminator matches are lost, there is not a real problem with them.  And means beating the champ when the title is not on the line still has meaning.

It’s essentially the rule NJPW has where if the champ gets pinned the person that pinned them gets a title shot, only they made it a specific match stipulation and not just a thing that can happen at any given moment.

Like c I don’t hate it since 9/10 times the challenger loses the Eliminator match anyway, although I think we will see Cole get the win tomorrow. I think it’s an interesting thing to have in that every now and then someone is going to fight the champ without having earned a title shot, so they call it an “eliminator match” in the off chance the challenger wins so they skip the line for a title shot.

To be fair though, last week Adam Cole became the first person to get under MJF’s skin and make him fight him, and I think that should have resulted in a straight up title shot. Especially because MJF came out and was all “is there no one else?” before Cole showed up. There is no clear contender, Cole is coming off a huge win, and he talked so much shit that MJF skipped all his usual antics and said “fuck you, fight me.”

I feel like they had a perfect moment then realized they don’t want Adam Cole to lose tomorrow so they snuck in the eliminator stip, which is annoying. If you want Cole to win then he should win. Why does MJF have to hold the title forever and not have a surprise win once in a while? Because he might walk next year? Boo fucking hoo ratings have never been worse since he’s been champ. So what? You want a top heel, push Swerve. Push RUSH. Push Sammy. You have Jericho. You just turned Takeshita and have Callis getting nuclear heat. But nooo we need MJF to re-sign!

It is an unofficial rule in NJPW, but this exclusively happens in tag team matches where the singles champion gets pinned by a member of the opposing team. I personally find it a lazy way to book a challenger and NJPW used to lean on it way too much, fortunately they've stopped doing it so much recently.

The Eliminator gimmick is just as silly. On paper, it's a bit odd. You beat the champion, well done, but guess what? You're not the champion. You have to beat him again! However c's and RT's posts are making me come round to the idea.

So, do we get any more Forbidden Door build tonight? Any build for Collision this Saturday? Gimme some predictions peeps.

I have a feeling whoever is facing Toni Storm at FD is going to appear after she defends tonight. Wish it were Mercedes Mone but I highly doubt she will be healed before FD.

Almost a given there will be more fuckery with BCC/Elite/Takeshita/Omega returning from Totally Not Japan.

I also wonder what happens if Adam Cole wins. Does that mean he gets his title shot at Forbidden Door? We not doing a crossover for the AEW title this year? Part of me wonders if NJPW doesn't want to give up someone to feed to MJF.
