Well that was a pretty good two hours of Wrestling, I enjoyed Collision's debut episode.

I wonder if CM Punk is going to have an opponent for Forbidden Door. Curious if someone pops up in Toronto to challenge him next Saturday.

Punk carrying around a bag without actually showing what was inside is a nice hint at KENTA, but I dunno if that will happen. Neither guy wants to lose that fight.

Maybe Dave Finlay shows up to rub it in Jay White's face?

AEW's brand new show has received a lot of hype, thanks to CM Punk. Personally, I'm not that invested. I was ALL IN on his first return to AEW, even though I was never a big fan of the guy to begin with, I appreciated what he brought to the ring in what is presumably the twilight of his career.

A lot of controversy happened, Punk disappeared for a while, and now he's back. Of course he is the first person to make an entrance on the show, getting the expected enormous hometown reaction.

Punk is carrying some interesting objects but he doesn't have much interesting to say. The first part of his speech is his usual mixture of praising the fans and describing how authentic he is, "I am the truth, and the truth is painful", he declares. The delivery and choice of words is top notch, as it always is with CM Punk. But mostly he's not saying a whole lot. I never cared about this tribalism war he has with The Elite.

Finally he gets to wrestling. He talks about how he held the AEW championship in his last appearance because he won a match, and nobody beat him for it. He states that the object hidden in a bag is said championship. He also has some boots. He says that until someone in this company can fill these boots, they're staying with CM Punk.

Next is Luchasaurus vs Wardlow. I'd have skipped this match on Dynamite so I'm skipping it now. TELL ME WHEN I'M TELLING LIES. The dinosaur won by cheating. Christian grabs the belt and celebrates like it's his while the graphic "New TNT Champion Luchasaurus" appears on the screen. That's pretty funny.

Andrade is back. Didn't he also disappear for reasons of controversy? They should call this AEW Controversy instead of AEW Collision. TELL ME WHEN I'M TELLING LIES.

There's a sign in the crowd "Hey Buddy ain't it funny how Dommy stole ur Mommy." Heh.

Andrade wins and gets smashed by House of Black.

Another controversial figure, Miro, is back and ready to destroy the criminally underutilised Tony Neese. Neese sensibly runs away, and picks his spot. He picked a good spot but Miro was going to run him over no matter what happened. At least Neese can brag that he got the first strike. The match is an exciting squash. Neese does achieve some offense but Miro does a great job in acknowledging the strikes while still looking like an untouchable killer. Quarter selling.

I'm not sure if The Outcasts is a good idea executed poorly, or just a bad idea...executed poorly. In any case they are facing Willow Nightingale and The Outcasts' personal jobber, Skye Blue. Skye Blue lost to The Outcasts a million times, but she made progress and earned a title match on the last Dynamite, where she lost again to Toni Storm. Apparently it's Blue's home town and she is rewarded with a pinfall victory over Ruby Riot. She's getting pushed, very slowly, but in the right direction.

The Acclaimed come out to remind us they exist.

Main event time. CM Punk and FTR are undeniably a super team. Unfortunately Jay White and company are high level fodder, but it should be a fascinating match.

Everyone is hyped, especially CMFTR, and it shows. They do a great job of milking the first Punk and Joe face off in a very long time. The Joe vs Dax Harwood slugfest is even better. Joe wins, and in comes Jay White to pick up the pieces. Then it proceeds predictably. Dax gets isolated, Cash gets a hot tag, then he gets isolated. I consider this part of any tag match to be completely throwaway. I hit fast forward until Punk makes the inevitable real hot tag.

Punk dominates Bullet Club Gold. Jay White manages to escape Go To Sleep but then gets triple teamed. Juice makes the save allowing Jay to crawl to the fresh Samoa Joe. Soon all six men are brawling. "I'm surprised it took this long" remarks McGuinness. He's right.

Joe catches Punk in the Coquina Clutch. Punk has no answer. High drama as FTR struggle to make the save. Cash Wheeler eventually breaks free and breaks the hold. Joe yells to Juice to tag in and take the fall. Juice does so efficiently, getting nailed with Shatter Machine and Go To Sleep within seconds of entering the match.

Good opening show. CM Punk was the focus, rightfully so, but there was a good amount of interesting content and exciting returns. Not bad.

Punk is so undoubtedly one of the best promo guys of all time. Like Emperor said, he didn't really say anything in five minutes but it still felt like must-see TV. This whole situation has been a total embarrassment and everyone involved has come off looking much worse, I don't care about the feud or where they take it on screen, but man he can talk and make it sound cooler. Always got an iconic line in the chamber and a little easter egg like taking the company logo off the mic like he did when he turned heel in WWE.

Hope he is worth it, as Hangman, Bucks and Omega are all off TV indefinitely right now so Punk can be on both shows.
