AEW has officially crossed the 80,000 mark for attendance. And now, they're just a mere 654 tickets away from surpassing WrestleMania 32's official number.

Reports are Punk wanted to be involved in the Bucks vs FTR creative planning and was told no because if he was there the Bucks could not be.

The card is not screaming "special" to me at the moment, but we'll see what lies ahead.
Ospreay vs Jericho or Ospreay vs Punk are rumoured.

Isn't that 'official' number coming from Dave and he's trying to claim 10,000+ fans were actually friends/family/staff? It's from WrestleTix. I mean they're not really a source when it comes to that, they just do their own estimates based on ticket availability.
The source of the 80,000 figure comes from Brandon Thurston, but based on the sources he provided in the article I can't actually see the 80,700 figure. Granted, the link only went to one of the WWE financial reports and that didn't seem to cover the figure. Supposedly the source comes from the Arlington Police report but that info also wasn't available in the Fightful article.
It's still a wonderful achievements, it just seemed strange that Dave reported 97,000 at the time and then the goal-posts got shifted to 80,000 and the sources seem sketchy.

10k comped tickets is like 100 tickets to everyone on the roster. Seems very high.
Agree with Emp entirely. Card is really weak so far for a mega show.
Punk has Joe at the show, so it is not him and Willy.

Adam Cole and MJF are really working the pre-show as well... ok, well he's booker of the year, he knows what he's doing.
Why not The Acclaimed vs Aussie Open? Big crowd participation when The Acclaimed come out, bring back Daddy Ass for mega pop and they can mock the Aussies in front of a British crowd to give the Aussies instant heat. Easy.

I'm not a fan of the idea either but I'm withholding judgment until someone tells me that this match is keeping a more deserving tag team off the card entirely. Only 4 matches have been announced and they have a habit of waiting until the last minute to drop the entire card, and I expect it will be a stacked, long show. Guess we will see. Even if it all works out and everyone that deserves a spot on the show gets one, it's still a weird angle. Why shoehorn this match into the pre-show just to build heat between Cole & MJF before their match? They can do that any time.

United Kingdom vs Acclaimed and Daddy Ass could have been a danger. Far better use of Will then the rumored Jericho match.

The card is definitely better now but the only match that really grabs me is the Kenny/White tag match. I've never cared for the Stampede matches. Ospreay vs Jericho will be interesting. I know it's a dream match for Ospreay, so good for him, but seems like a waste to me.

Ospreay gets a dream match in front if the biggest crowd in wrestling history on his home turf. No complaints here.

IF you think wrestling isnt doing well, 90,000 for this show, 90,000 in one day for mania It's insane how well wrestling is doing. I'd be interested in how well AEW would draw if they attempted the same feat in the United States. When WWE did 70,000 in Australia, it generated a lot of casual fan interest and the infrequency of these events made it a special show. AEW putting 50, 60, 70,000 in an stadium in the United States would be a true a true reflection of how strong the American wrestling market is. That's not casting an doubt, I think they could do it. If rumours are to be believed that Edge is eventually AEW bound, boy.. that would do it.

I want Tony to claim WWE numbers and say 200k for Wembley. Not like WWE can contradict him since to do would expose wrestling attendance numbers are mostly bullshit.
70k in the US will not happen. Mainly because you can always see AEW in the US since they now run the entire country. To get the really big numbers you need an event that cannot be missed. And cannot do that if you are running 100 shows around the countries meaning in the large markets AEW comes around every few months.
UK you may get another AEW show, but will be a year or so out. You want to see AEW live, you go to the stadium or hope they return.
WM tickets do show the strength of the US market moving 90k tickets over two nights like instantly.
I do think if Tony was smart, he would run other European markets, PR, Mexico and Aussieland. Get the big crowds on a yearly mega show circuit. Do like two huge international shows in new markets a year and he likely can make lightning strike repeatedly. Will not be Wembley numbers, but will be insane crowds.
I do wonder, if Saudi Arabia tried to get a show, does Punk has veto power.

Booking is key. The card for this event isn't exactly special. In fact, outside of FTR v Young Bucks and MJF v Cole everything else is a missed opportunity.
Jericho v Osprey? Really... Jericho is literally working a mid card mutiny angle atm.
Kenny, White, Kota, Mox... in tag team matches? Come on Tony.

FTR vs The Young Bucks was a big deal two years ago. Now it feels like "been there, done that".
Where is the House of Black? New Japan have Trios Champions: Okada, Tanahashi and Ishii. Hey, there's a cool idea.

I thought House of Black v Blackpool might have been a great option.
But, you've also got any number of options that haven't been even remotely considered... maybe, Jay White v Kenny Omega for example. Ex-leaders of Bullet Club...
I think Little Tony is trying to squeeze as many people on this card as possible with some of these overbooked matches.

Strangely this is the most I'm looking forward to a Bucks/FTR match. The first go-around was really awkward because they had to maneuver around the Hangman Page storyline. So instead of it being the two best teams finally getting to meet after all these years, it was Hangman's shady friends driving a wedge between Hangman/Bucks and they're really not that great a tag team because they rely on Tully to win matches.
The second time around was coming straight off the Briscoes match and it felt completely over-shadowed.
At least now this is happening on the biggest show in AEW history. My only issue is that both teams are in strange places in their career and I feel an indifference to both teams. FTR come across like they enjoy the smell of their own farts whereas the Bucks come across like passive aggressive spoiled brats who keep to themselves and won't let the company flourish. Still, it'd be impossible for them to have a dud match and with 80K fans this should be a crowning achievement and a culmination of years of awesome matches.

It's no secret I'm not a Young Bucks fan. They've always had their heads firmly up their own asses. Not just that, they've not been involved in the tag team division for a long time, and suddenly they're fighting for the championship on the company's biggest show. Convenient.
FTR are also unbearable, even more so since the CM Punk FTR circlejerk known as Collision began.
Speaking of which, AEW "Real" World Championship  I'll admit that was a nice prop for the Collision debut show but they're actually rolling with it? It would work if Punk were a chickenshit heel, but as a babyface undermining the actual world championship it makes the company look silly. The only way to justify that booking is to have Punk vs MJF. Which would have been a great main event. Samoa Joe? Really? I get that Punk and Joe have this "legendary" history, but a washed up Joe near the top of this enormous show doesn't sit right.
Onto MJF... Did one of them turn on the other or is MJF vs Cole a double babyface match?
The Kenny/White six man tag feels like a Dynamite warm up for various singles matches that should be at Wembley. I've not watched a single second of AEW programming since the G1 started so maybe the build has been amazing and justified the match.

MJF vs Cole is a double heel match really. Cole teased turning on MJF, and MJF we all know may be a heel still. The match will be basically who turns first. They can ditch the face / heel dynamic as they can use the drama from their friendship to tell the story instead.
And sadly outside of MJF and Cole and the coffin match not really anything was really built up. Most of the hard does feel slapped together.
Do feel like the timing sucked as we just got a pretty hot G1, WWE still continues to do interesting shit with the Bloodline, and AEW is coasting with this show really at a time you really do not want to be the only company coasting.
