The regular season is upon us post your predictions here!
Lot of story lines Warriors the defending champions will they repeat? Lot of movements such as K. Irving traded to the Celtics for I. Thomas, and Jae Crowdler to the Cavs plus the addition of Derrick Rose. Also don't forget the Celtics sign Gordon Hayward. Rudy Gay sign with the Spurs, Jimmy Butler was traded to the Wolves. Will the Wolves finally return to the playoffs with their new additions not just adding Jimmy Butler but also adding Jeff Teague and Taj Gibson. How will PG13 and Russell Westbrook co-exist? Will the Thunder become a higher seed in the post-season? Will they go far? What about Chris Paul was traded the Rockets to pair with James Harden. Can the Rockets starting backcourt can compliment each other? How about the Clippers? Will they return to the playoffs with the loss of Chris Paul? Any surprising teams? Any player that will have a breakout season? If so who?
Here are my predictions:
East: 1. Cavs 2. Celtics 3. Raptors 4. Wizards 5. Pistons 6. Bucks 7. Hornets 8. Heat ------------------------------ 9. Magic 10. Pacers 11. 76ers 12. Bulls 13. Knicks 14. Hawks 15. Nets
West: 1. Warriors 2. Spurs 3. Thunder 4. Rockets 5. Jazz 6. TimberWolves 7. Clippers 8. Pelicans ---------------------------------- 9. Blazers 10. Nuggets 11. Grizzlies 12. Lakers 13. Mavericks 14. Kings 15. Suns
I predict NBA Finals Warriors defeat the Cavs in 4
As for the Conferees Finals for the West I got Warriors Vs Thunder got the Warriors in 7 For the East I got the Cavs vs Celtics I got the Cavs in 7
Now here is my predictions on the NBA Awards.
MVP: Kawhi Leonard Runner Up: Lebron James
COTY: Stan Van Gundy Runner Up: Steve Clifford
ROTY: Lonzo Ball Runner Up: De'Aaron Fox
SMOTY: Nick Young Runner Up: Rudy Gay
DPOTY: Karl Anthony Town Runner Up: Avery Bradley
Most Improve Player Of The Year: Tyus Jones Runner Up: Rodney Hood
What is your prediction? What is your expectation of your favorite team?

I don't have time at the moment to write up all my predictions but I really don't see a snowballs chance in hell that the Pistons finish as a 5 seed , even in the Eastern Conference. And I sure as hell don't see SVG winning coach of the year. Even in this dream scenario for Detroit , why should SVG the coach be rewarded because SVG the personell guy fucking sucks? He handicapped himself.
I'll say too , I don't see the Spurs finishing as the two seed. Two many teams in the West have added too much firepower while the Spurs largely remained stagnant and even lost a few key rotation players. I know they are the Spurs but the armor was chipping last season and I think they are closer to the 4th/5th seed than 2nd.
I hope the Bucks can manage to work their way to a third seed , like most Wisconsin teams though they can't seem to stay healthy. If it's Parker it's Middleton , if not Middleton than it's Parker. Give ABC a healthy , competent team and let's see how far he can carry this team.
The Lakers on the other hand are really biding their time. Just play the shit out of Ingram and Ball and let them develop despite the win/loss record.
Also Big KAT is terrible on defense , he ain't winning DPOTY.

Just play the shit out of Ingram and Ball and let them develop despite the win/loss record. Also Big KAT is terrible on defense , he ain't winning DPOTY. I know it's only two years ago which the Pistons made the playoffs last year was a big disappointment with them. They do have talent with Drummond(Even though he hasn't improved much.), Reggie Jackson(Nothing special but solid keep in mind he in and out last season due to the injury he have.), Tobias Harris(Who is solid.). With the dropoff of the Hawks who not only loss Dwight Howard they also loss their best player in Paul Milsap which despite the East is so bad I don't see the Hawks return to the playoffs. Same goes with the Bulls and Pacers which both traded their best player away this past summer who both were in the playoffs last year don't see them return to the playoffs either I think some of the teams will probably replacing them in return to the playoffs this season instead which I could see the Pistons returning to the playoffs. They loss Pope but they did added Avery Bradley who is much of a upgraded at the two guard. As for Stan Van Gundy I actually banging my head who I should predict to win the COTY I was thought about guys like Synder, Clifford, or Spos. I go with SVG which I don't he isn't a bad coach don't think he isn't great either he is the type of coach will get you to point A but stuck in point A can't go from point A to point B especially when you got SVG also running the front office for the team. True that the West addded too much firepower teams like OKC even though got to see how Melo/PG13/and Westbrook play together, and the Rockets with the addition of CP3 how he can play with James Harden on the backcourt. You got the Wolves who are inexperience, and young but did add some veterans which I see them make the playoffs but couldn't see them be better than the Spurs not this year though. I learn a long time ago that when I counted the Spurs out they always prove me wrong so I never count them out again  I thought about putting the Bucks on the fifth, or even the fourth seed over the Wizards which the Wizards haven't do anything to improve the team especially the bench which still a big major concern. I keep them in the sixth seed but I think they are a dark horse team in the East if they can stay healthy of course. Big KAT is a terrible defender I agree but with another season under Thibs I could see him improving his defense of course I might be wrong, or maybe I am overreacting okay not the right word to put but you know what I mean

I don't think the Celtics can beat the Warriors. I do think they'll knock off the Cavs in the ECF to make it to the Finals, but they're losing to the Warriors in 5 tops.

I doubt any teams in the Eastern Conferences is going to beat the Warriors in the finals this year unless there is a injury, the Celtics have a better chance beating the Cavs in the ECF than beating the Warriors in the finals.
The only teams that might have a chance beating the Warriors in the playoffs are three teams from the West the Spurs if Kawhi Leonard stays healthy, Thunder their bench might be a problem gotta see how Melo/PG13/Westbrook play together too, and maybe Houston but I think Spurs,or Thunder may have a better chance than Houston beating the Warriors.

With the game Julius Randle had last night, I think it is very possible he becomes trade bait by December-January and gets traded as soon as February if he continues to play the way he played in that game.
He’s trying to play like a SF and a guard instead of sticking to what he's actually supposed to be doing, which is getting rebounds, setting picks and throwing buckets down here and there..

Big KAT is a terrible defender I agree but with another season under Thibs I could see him improving his defense of course I might be wrong, or maybe I am overreacting okay not the right word to put but you know what I mean  I guess the idea that the Pistons can't make the playoffs in the East is a little hard considering the state of the East. I should say that if most of the top five teams stay healthy there is no way they are a 5 seed though I could see them or a number of a teams sneak into the 7/8 seed. I like the 76ers for that spot if Embid and company can ever stay on the court. The seems to be the only argument for the Spurs. "Well they proved me wrong in the past" and it's quite the lame duck argument at this point , sooner or later their deficiencies at certain positions and the losses they accrued are going to knock them down at least a peg or two. They should still make the playoffs rather easily but unless Kawhi plays out of this world and turns in a unanimous MVP season than I don't see them as a two seed. Same for Towns - it's one thing to have faith in Thibs to turn him into a good defender but it's a whole different argument to say he's going to bring him from bad to the best in one offseason. Perhaps that is a progression for down the road but it's pipe dreams for this season IMO. He has a better chance at MVP than DPOY , and it's not that close IMO.

I edited to change the titled of this thread so the regular season starts tonight with a double header Irving is playing against his former team already the Celtics against the Cavs, and then the Rockets which CP3 will make his debut as a Rocket against the defending champions, and they will get their ring tonight the Golden State Warriors. That is two potential good games looking forward to those two games. Who is ready? Anyone getting the NBA League Pass? I usually get it every year, and this is no difference.

Tip-off is an hour away I want to post before the game
im assuming the Cavs going to start Love at the five and Crowdler at the four I don’t like the idea of playing Love at the five. I understand they don’t have a true center but I rather live by playing Love at the four and Thompson at the five it’s a bit better defensively wise. Also at this point of his career Wade shouldn’t start and should play off the bench as a sixth man. Plus starting JR Smith at the two is a better choice plus he is a better three point shooter.
i understand why Rose start at the point since IT is out until January. Once IT comes back and if Lue start JR Smith instead some point of the season instead of Wade and move Love back to his natural position it will help the spacing much better for Lebron. I find it interesting that Tatum will get the starting job instead of Brown.
As for the Warriors vs Rockets game going to be interesting how CP3 & Harden work together might be a while this season chemistry wise.
edited: ok scratch that both Brown and Tatum will start I’m assuming Tatum will be playing at the four.

I don't think Hayward will miss the entire season. I’d guess that he will be if only because they won’t take chances with him out of shape in the playoffs with that contract. It’s among the four most gruesome leg injuries I’ve seen(that Louisville kid, Livingston and Paul George). The other three necessitated missing nearly a year at least and significant time to get back to a similar level they left in, if they ever did.

I hate sports. Fucking poor Gordon Heyward man , I feel for the dude.
From a fan perspective I was really looking forward to seeing what that Boston team could turn into this season and Hayward obviously was a key part of that. They were going to be such a fun team to watch once they started to gel.
From a personal perspective , this is the first year I really dove into big money season long fantasy basketball and Hayward was my third or fourth round pick so fuck me , my season is already in trouble. One of the most appealing things about basketball compared to football is that devastating , season ending injuries are rare and not going to happen in the first quarter in the first game of the season. Fucking argh.

Both games wound up being great, but what an awful way to start the season. The reaction of the players, fans, and commentators said it all. It was a sobering, horrifying moment that may have derailed the Celtics season.

In a few minutes the 76ers vs Wizard is on ESPN Ben Simmons will finally make his debut should be interesting how they are going to use him offensively I’m assuming and they should use him as playmaker with shooters surround him. There are other games on of course looking forward watchinfthe games which match ups you are he most intriguing for today games?

Bulls will open the season against the Raptors I do not expect he Bulls to win this game nor the next two games either. Lauri will start since Portis is suspended for eight games for punching his teammate Niko who is out because of it which Portis should be suspended more than eight games or worse have his contract voild. I expect growing pains for Lauri.

With me getting rid of cable and strictly to Sling tv now, I won't get many Penguins games anymore. Looks like I have to devote more time to the NBA this year. I'll admit I didn't watch much last year. I caught Boston/Cleveland the other night, and Hayward's injury received the same reaction from me as PG's.
Catching the Thunder/Knicks game right now. This team will be a lot of fun once they begin to click more throughout the season. PG is looking good in his debut, Carmelo is getting a good response from the fans.

Paul George with six threes and 28pts in his debut. He’s going to feast beyond the arc.
Westbrook with a triple double in the first game.

While I expect the Bulls lose which they did I am actually happy that Lauri Markkanen have a solid debut the first half he was ok the first half but the second half he was more aggressive, and he was producing. Kay Felder who the Bulls pick up recently despite his shot not falling he was doing a good job running the offense and was distributing the ball. Like to see him o he rotation even when Dunnn comes back.
