Does anyone else feel like the offseason takes absolutely forever but then Week 1 comes quite quickly? I was taken by surprise when pduh sent the message about the season preview podcast, all of a sudden we have an actual NFL game in 3 days. Thursday Night Lions @ Chiefs
Sunday Early Panthers @ Falcons Bengals @ Browns Jaguars @ Colts Bucs @ Vikings Titans @ Saints 49ers @ Steelers Texans @ Ravens Cardinals @ Commanders
Sunday Late Packers @ Bears Raiders @ Broncos Eagles @ Patriots Dolphins @ Chargers Rams @ Seahawks
Sunday Night Cowboys @ Giants
Monday Night Bills @ Jets Detroit gets a very rare primetime showcase on Thursday. It feels like a really important tone-setter for their campaign trying to keep the good vibes from the end of last season going. Can they take another step forward this season and hang with the big boys or do we get a repeat of last season's kickoff game where the Bills dismantled the Rams and derailed them right from the start? Amongst a lot of divisional matchups on Sunday, two games particularly stand out to me in the late window. The baby Packers travel to Soldier Field to take on Chicago who are looking at this season as an opportunity to finally get some back on Green Bay now that Rodgers is gone. Bears players love to chirp about this rivalry but it's up to them to prove it on the field. Another big narrative game is Miami vs LA with the second contest between draft classmates Tua and Herbert. Sunday night is the classic NFC East season opener between the Cowboys and Giants. Dallas have swept NYG in the past two seasons but the Giants head into this year with more optimism than in a long time. Monday night is a real marquee matchup with Aaron Rodgers making his Jets debut against the Bills, a contest between the two teams under the most pressure this season. We all expect the AFC East to be a slobberknocker, but one team is likely to fall off the pace, so this game might tell us a lot about whether New York is for real.

Since I'm a Bills fan, I'm fully expecting that the Jets come out hot at home and Rodgers has a vintage Aaron Rodgers game. The commentary doesn't even try to hide the fact that they're jerking off over Rodgers showing he's still got it. Bills Mafia goes into full on panic mode all week long until they come out the following weekend and beat the Raiders. Then everyone calms down.
While Monday is certainly a "set the tone" game for the AFC East, I don't think it will tell the whole story regardless of the outcome. If what happens in my first paragraph happens, great for the Jets, but will that be who they are the entire season? I have my doubts. If Buffalo dominates on offence and takes the game like they probably should, do I feel good? Yeah, for a minute, but are the same usual mistakes still there? Is their defence continuing to decline? If so, will Von Miller coming back week 5 make any difference?
Either way I'm excited and it should be a good game.

SF will be a good test for PIT. I'm excited to see how much Kenny Picket has progressed.

Going into Chicago Week 1 and our two starting receivers are highly questionable. Lovely. Can’t even be healthy for Week 1.

Full steam ahead on the "this is the 49ers year" train pduh with them getting the Bosa deal done. $122 million guaranteed, wowee. There's never been more evidence not to pay any attention to the rumour mill, things get made up all the time because we have to have a constant stream of "news". Jonathan Taylor was never getting traded, and neither was Bosa.

Time for my annual wine and cry post about how the AFC Texas team doesn't come on here in this part of Texas, I got Saints and Cowboys on my 2 networks Sunday during Houston vs Baltimore. The new rules where CBS and Fox can go AFC/NFC screwed me. Patrick Mahomes being from here made it even worse, the Chiefs are everybody's 1B team here and seem to be a priority for the local CBS. The Cowboys game was the only Texans game that came on TV here last year. If I get Sunday Ticket or Game Pass though they tell me I can't watch Texans games because they are local. Fuck me running.

Any insider info from you? I’m hearing people hyping him up, but he seems kind of small. He grew up a Bears fan and him having his first career game in Chicago almost feels like he’s going to have a big game. Especially considering the injuries to Watson and Doubs.

I never thought the Niners will trade Bosa glad that the hold up is finally over, and more good news Ray Ray McCloud Niners kick returner suppose to be out for two months but he was clear to practice today and he might play week one after all. Oh and Niners new kicker Moody seem to be set to debuT in week one joy 😒

Feels awfully weird looking forward to futbol more than football for the first time in my life. I didn't even watch the Superbowl last year; was too busy playing FIFA. Haven't checked out on the big game since 2003. Part of it was also classic Bengals playoff pain and a substantially more painful season as a Packers fan.
That all being said, this is going to be a fun year. It's a big make or break season for everyone in the AFC North:
- Bengals can't afford to regress, we need to seize the Superbowl window soon while playing in this modern era of major roster turnover
- Ravens have to prove they can stay consistent, hope they can remain healthy and Lamar needs to show he can pull the trigger deep in the playoffs
- A year of film on Kenny "Grab My Small Hand" Pickett; Second year is crucial for his development going forward
- Browns have it worst of all and they deserve every bit of it, if Deshaun doesn't do shit in a full season or tears his ACL they are so fucked for at least the next 5-10 years and maybe even pulling an Oakland and relocating a second time
Also, this Packers team might surprise some people. I have a good gut feeling about Jordan Love and hope he proves the doubters wrong. Christian Watson had a promising rookie season. The defense is still pretty stout post-Aaron. At best we'll win 6 to 8 games probably but I think we'll at least be fun to watch.

He’s had a great camp like most of the rookies, could be a monster in the slot and Love really started to hone in on him and develop some great chemistry towards the end of camp. Honestly if both starters are out or limited I wouldn’t be shocked to see him get double digit targets. 7/81 and a TD would be feasible. Wouldn’t worry too much about the size, kid seems to have some Steve Smith in him where he plays a lot bigger than his stature.

Mahomes is going to keep proving his doubters wrong tonight and throw for 4 TDS. Maybe 5.
It’s show time.

Trusting Andy’s 15-4 record over his last 19 season openers (9-1 in KC) to hold off the Lions tonight, even with the team missing two of their three most important guys.

Now here's a guy who is just unstoppable with extra time to prepare. He's adopting plays from janitors, he's naming them after his favourite foods...

Super interested to see the Chiefs navigate without Kelce. McKinnon might get 15 targets if the game stays close.

Last years second round rookie wideout took 20 games to score a TD. This years gets it done in one.
