Interesting note from last night’s media scrum after WrestleDream. Someone asked Tony Khan about Jade Cargill leaving. He said it was a complete surprise. He made her an offer and she asked for more. He came back and offered more than she asked for and she turned it down anyway.
Clearly Jade’s mind was already made up but that’s kind of shitty of her to ask for more money, get offered even more than that, then still say no. Why lead the company on like you might stay? I would be pretty irked if an employee did that to me.

I still think the WWE is the better option of the two, especially if she's trying to break into Hollywood, but definitely shitty.

It didn’t seem like he said that he gave her more than what she asked for the second time. I could be wrong about that though. And to be clear, if she had every intention of leaving, she was probably using his offers as leverage for a better contract with WWE. You can make it out to be something ugly, but people do it every day in the business world. I’ll never fault a person for taking a billionaire(s) to task for more money.

She likely could have been clearer with Tony about why she was leaving, but he was simply not keeping her. Jade has enough money for life, so never was about that for her. WWE is better suited to getting her to Hollywood, but if her goal was Hollywood, Tony was not keeping her even if she resigned.
Then again, Tony set himself up for this. He does not spend a lot of one on one time with the talent, but has complete control. Why would he know if she was planning a change of direction if he did not talk to her? AEW sounds like it has a very loose organizational structure that allows shit like this to easily happen.
Frankly, hopefully a lot more leave since Tony will not release fucking anyone and has an insanely bloated roster. Seems the only way to get rid of people there is for them to walk, or be the maybe one or two releases he makes a year.

Sounds like a pretty standard thing to do. She probably wasn't happy there anymore or wanted something better was going to say it was a money thing not realizing Tony probably has enough money where he doesn't have to justify spending what ever he wants.
But if she was trying to spare his feelings she should have said it was due to horrible imbalance between male and female tv time.

I doubt she was even unhappy. AEW just could not get her to where she wanted to go, while WWE might. While he is likely not happy losing her, he certainly did not seem upset by it at the scrum. And none of the roster seems upset. Everyone gets why she did what she did. Sure if things at WWE do not work out, Tony will gladly take her back too.

Absolutely insane take btw that a wrestler is ‘shitty’ for trying to maximise her earnings from two companies bankrolled by literal billionaires. Take your team hat off. Jesus Christ.

Thinking of this, I think Jade was trying to give Tony a reason to let her walk, instead of just telling him that sorry, there is no future for me here.
Jade's husband had career earnings of 100+ million from baseball alone, so cash was not what this was about.

Fairs fair. You can have a great career in AEW and eventually, maybe you could be there for a decade and make some good money and have a Wikipedia article to be proud of. It's no indifferent to NJPW in a sense.
I'm sure AJ Styles was very proud of his TNA career.
But...
The top promotion in this industry is the WWE. It has been for a long time, and likely always will be. As big as a show like ALL IN was, as big as show like Wrestle Kingdom is... Wrestlemania is bigger. It's status is higher, much higher. The WWE World Championship is what little boys and girls dream of winning growing up. It's why people get into this business. Success in WWE is next-level compared to everywhere else. The Rumble, Wrestlemania, Monday Night Raw... it is on a different plain to every other promotion in the world. There's not a single performer in AEW who wouldn't swap positions with Roman Reigns or Seth Rollins right now... ( news flash, Mox is lying to ya, and Eddie is lying to himself.. )
That's why people go to WWE. Because it's massive and being successful there is a massive achievement that is often over-looked because it's not the cool alternative that is AEW, or NJPW, or once upon a time TNA.

If that's what she was doing then all power to her, but the quote made it sound like she told TK her number to stay, he offered her even more than that, and she turned it down anyway because she actually had no intention of staying and let AEW think she would. We were basing our opinion of the matter on the information we were given, which is fair. By all means get paid. And I don't think anyone disagrees that WWE is a good fit for her and she made the right decision. Our discussion the other day was based off what we knew at the time and we formed an opinion based on that. In all honesty I couldn't care less. I said I would be annoyed if I were in Tony's position but me personally I don't give a fuck. Get your money.

Yeah this all seems like someone trying to twist this into something it is not. Like even the majority of AEW fans are not faulting her. If WWE calls you would be stupid to not listen. And if they can offer you something Tony cannot you would be stupid to stay. Given WWE is already pushing her on social media, it is clear she they want to invest in her too. So she made the right call entirely.

As a talent, I love Jade, I don't care if she's in AEW or WWE... I'm still gonna watch her do her thing. I don't have a team hat/tribal mentality, I watch both promotions, alongside CMLL, Impact, New Japan, etc.

There must be a lot of mid-card guys in AEW looking at WWE like... " ok... Cody got pushed to the moon straight out of the gate and now Jade is being promoted like a megastar... hmmmmmm. "

I feel like Jade asked for more money, in hopes to high ball Tony, so he'd be like "the last offer I made was the best I can do", and then she could take up the WWE offer without leaving any bad feelings. But Tony offered her more than she was asking for, leaving her to just have to go with WWE.😂 While she'll need a bit more training, I feel like going over to WWE can improve her wrestling. Training with Sara Del Ray will help (it's always good to have a woman training the women), and getting to wrestle more than two times a month will help (hard to get good at something if you aren't doing it regularly).

I would be pretty irked if an employee did that to me. She used AEW as leverage to get more money from WWE, that's what a free agent does. She outperformed what she was making from AEW with what was given so she wanted to break bank on this next contract and given her age, she has so many chances to figure this out. I don't fault her too much for this honestly. She could have very well just declined AEW outright or just went & bashed them on the way out. I assume AEW wasn't blowing any WWE offer out of the ballpark which I guess she was hoping for and thought WWE is the bigger name & more established company so why not? I think the drama with Punk, the women's locker room etc. probably soured her too. She was pro Punk and I assume kept to herself in that locker room excluding a few women. Cody and Brandi Rhodes gave her that 1st big break too and both got shown the door pretty much. Can't imagine lots of the stuff she saw while she was there, she hasn't thrown that out into the open(Same with Cody) so credit for that. She also had a undefeated streak for months, what else was she going to do? The AEW Women's Championship?

Very few people can jump from AEW to WWE and be a big talent. Jade can as she is built like a greek goddess. Someone like Anna Jay jumps they are unlike to even make it to the main roster.
Even someone like Orange I am not sure makes it in WWE. MJF may, but in the mid card. MJF beating Roman though is laughable.
Who they need to watch are people like Powerhouse or Wardlow. Bought can be gotten cheap and both can be molded into midcard guys very easily. Wardlow may even make champion if they let him fly.
But really though AEW guys are not WWE style guys. WWE guys can work in AEW, but the version just does not work given that AEW guys are generally smaller and work a style that is not compatible with WWE style. A lot of the guys WWE scouted already before they went to AEW as well, and simply passed.

Ricky Starks can probably be added there too, he's another Cody/Punk fan who was tight with Jade Cargill too. He stood with AEW at first but he's probably going to be targeted next, him and Wardlow if the latter's deal is coming up soon.

The so-called "insiders" have already been speculating that Ricky Starks will be out the door once his contract is up. He was friends with CM Punk and is sad about how all that went down, and he's a Cody guy. Also if he left, he would be NXT Champ within two years easily. He would be over as fuck there.

Not even sure Starks stays long in NXT, he has LA Knight sort of charisma. He also gets the Rock comparisons too but he is practically oozing with charisma. One of the best talents AEW has, TK should pay his handsomely if/when.

If WWE would hire Starks they would have likely done so after Taker got him tryout matches. Cody may have some sway, but not Taker levels of sway.

Jade: I'ma give Tony Khan a ridiculously high figure, so we can amicably part ways and say it was no one's fault, we just couldn't make the numbers work
Khan: That's all you wanted? We'll pay you more than that!
Jade: ...well, this is awkward...
tho i will say it also speaks to a discrepancy between cargill and khan, clearly she didn't think khan particularly wanted to keep her at (whatever her price was). and considering she was only in aew for a quiet goldberg-ish streak built on non-main shows for the express purpose of feeding her to kris statlander i wouldn't think tony valued her particularly highly either

We're referring to Tony " I've got more money than Vince McMahon " Khan, right...
Anyways, similarly to WCW and WWE.. anyone coming up should be aiming for WWE and anyone slowing down should be taking advantage of AEW.
