How did Samoa Joe slide into the world title scene? Those top three matches are really intriguing.

Number 1 contender tournament. Joe swept it with ease. TK clearly stacked the deck in Joe's favour considering the tournament included talent like Jay Lethal, Jeff Hardy, Trent Berreta and Nick Wayne.
Emp - After Punk was fired, they pivoted to Joe and had a brief interaction at All Out where MJF attacked Joe after Joe nudged him out of the way as he was coming up the ramp. This was a callback to an NXT segment where MJF was an extra. It was also an excuse for MJF to recite the over-played Steiner math promo to the amusement of the diehards and nobody else.

Yeah this would have been MJF vs CM Punk to unify the World title had he not got fired. All things considered they did a good job getting Joe in there. Build has felt natural and Joe plowing his way through the competition to get his hands on MJF is dope.
Only thing I don’t like is this will be two big shows in a row where Joe loses a World title match.

Real curious if Tony gives Toni the belt tonight given she is on fire right now. Hell could keep Ruby and Saraya with her if they wanted as well as her "assistants."

Shocked they moved that title so fast. Wonder if Mox is taking his time off finally.
Mox may have pulled and audible. While cameras were off a lot of people came to check on him.

Build has felt natural and Joe plowing his way through the competition to get his hands on MJF is dope. Only thing I don’t like is this will be two big shows in a row where Joe loses a World title match. Joe is just one of those guys like Danielson you can turn to on short notice and he'll make it work. The tournament was typical TK and I think you could have just had Joe beat Cole to earn the shot at MJF and it would have been even hotter. However there's plenty of ways to skin the cat and TK went with his tried and true method.
Still finding it a little difficult to wrap my head around MJF's reign at the moment. It still feels so odd to me that Hangman scored such a huge win over Moxley at Revolution and hasn't made any attempt at the title. I'd really like to see Tony pull the trigger on a few guys and have guys like Cassidy, Takeshita etc. challenge for the title. Establish the scene, build more interest and showcase the best talent.

I can't help but feel if Claudio/Kingston took place in ROH where it got to be the show piece it could have been a bigger moment. It was a fine way to kick the show off, but for this huge epic showdown that they'd been building towards for over a year, there really wasn't a catharsis. A nice feel good moment, but it felt like it just came and went without having time to breathe.
I don't think it helped that they followed the match with another 'epic' between Guevara and Jericho. It'll be interesting to see what Callis does for Sammy, because the match was all about Sammy being athletically better than Jericho but just making a series of rookie mistakes. He tried too hard to emulate Jericho and ultimately gave Jericho too much credit when he didn't cover for the GTH. I wish Jericho would modify his style because some of those springboards were sloppy,
So it's come out that Moxley was concussed from that opening dive from Fenix. It seemed like Moxley regained his bearings and I was actually going to give credit for the sell, but clearly that piledriver knocked him loopy again. I'd imagine it was Moxley who insisted on that second piledriver to help cover for the botch count but the whole thing was ugly.
I guess Toni Storm has another reason to be distressed after failing to recapture the women's title. Joe seemed very understanding after being illegally choked out by MJF. The hometown boy did good and got to tie up another loose end in his career. He's also officially conquered ROH and beaten every legend that came before him. Joe, Punk, Danielson, Cole, Cody - he's a made man.

Reports are minor concussion for Mox, and Cole went to the hospital and is on crutches now. Nature of his injury is not reported.
Mox concussion was from the dive by Fenix, not the drivers.

Mox was supposed to win. He changed the finish after he hit his head on the outside. Ref did not the count the pin as it was a title match and Fenix was not support to win, and no one on the production side told him to change the finish mid match.
Changing the finish of a title match in the ring should be made very clear before the finish and it was not here.
Fan are also being idiots, Mox was fine with the two drivers. They got worked. He got hurt in the dive before the match. The drivers were safe.

I like Stevie but he was wrong in this video. He focused on the drivers, which were safe, and not Mox getting his skulls smashed on the floor by Fenix. If there was no mats, Mox would have died. A kid in CT died in a very similar spot and a bare gym floor.
That said, Tony is an idiot for blocking him. Stevie gets these moves over like no one else does. Next time Rey rips out that move, people who seen this video will get nervous. Not a common thing anymore as we seen increasingly insane shit. Stevie breaking down all the ways the move can hurt you though, makes it seem a lot more dangerous.

Still, he made some valid points even if he didn't acknowledge that it was the dive that hurt Moxley. Dumping Moxley on his head like that AFTER he suffered a concussion and having to do it again was reckless and Rick Know/AEW have form for this.

The damning point is Tony dancing and having fun while one worker is going to the hospital and another is concussed.
But in the end it all comes back to if Tony does not want these videos made about AEW, do not let them be made. Stevie made this as people were asking him to break it down pretty much from right after the spot happened.

It just makes the company come across as thin skinned when they really should be trying to take advantage of social media and support content creators. I wonder if they have a automated system in place because I know Maffew was hit years back and Aubrey reached out to get the situation sorted.

Reddit brought up a good point, this was likely a WB bot tagging it. First time Stevie did a clip from Dynamite. The other stuff he did were all PPVs.
Fans already are tagging Aubrey for this. And they should as this should be fair use since it is clearly transformative content.

Either Tony will get WB to fix their bots or Tony will tweet an apology and say it is currently out of his hands. I can’t see him being against these videos personally and not commenting on something like this.
Couldn’t watch the show live because my kid started a new tae kwan do class last night but I watched as much as I could today. Really solid show. Felt like a big event yet again, as it should. Grand Slam is my favourite special event that AEW does outside of PPVs.
So happy for Eddie. What a moment.

Copyright bots do not care why a video is used, they match videos and send DMCAs unless instructed specially not to on the channel. Still remember when Fox DMCA'ed the Alien Covenant trailer by mistake because they did not add the Alien youtube to the green list.
