While some discussion on PW gets heated it rarely spirals into attacks on the person and stupidity. Obviously people a more willing to share their more controversial opinions on a message board with a degree of anonymity. Hopefully c decides to come back.

I’ve been on other message boards long ago for about two seconds but felt I really found my stride with the original PW after posting in Fan Fic and I like the new PW a lot better. Activity obviously dropped significantly but I feel like the OG PW gets looked at with rose tinted glasses ignoring some of the events already alluded to and the technical issues towards the end.

Also helps that most posters on PW are older and wiser now, I was one of the younger people posting on PW and I’m 33 today.

There was a great post in a similar thread that I think @ness started and NATH45 made a comment about Buffy the vampire slayer forums in it but I can’t find it.
It was basically talking about how message board people aren’t normal and like to go in depth on things and dissect it.

Obviously have in depth discussions with some friends but just with acquaintances obviously don’t want to hear my opinions on the 100 albums list and just want to about sports or the weather.

It’s weird, when I pass away there will be no mention of PW but it honestly feels like a huge part of my life and I’d be distraught if the board suddenly disappeared.

System I think the Buffy comment was made on one of the first PW podcasts.

It was highlighting how strange to outsiders it must be for a bunch of grown men, mostly, it get online and discuss in obsessive detail something that was cool 25 years ago.

The example, imagine if it were Buffy The Vampire Slayer instead of wrestling, it would be looked at as being very strange.

I don't know if I made that initial point, but I remember it being said on the podcast.

I believe I made a comment on one of the podcast episodes with pi where I compared us posting on pw akin to someone still posting on a buffy board, there's clearly something not right about the boy. Makes me wanna write some pseudo fan fic anthology about PW and people's responses to her "pull". I'm telling ya I wonder if other forums like PW exist out there. Site's long gone but a community waving the banner still exist. Maybe it's less about PW and more mid 2000s forum internet culture that created these weird areas of the internet.

PW really has been a large part of many lives. And yet it'll remain everyone's best kept secret. Most will die without revealing that side of them to anyone else. The only bond is with other 1.1ers. As PW's Final Girl when I'm the last one standing (assuming it hasn't been deleted for dignity's sake by admin) I will periodically post like a blog on pw, just in case survivors are out there.

Honestly I wish I could remember my previous forum areas to see if they're still kicking.

I always wondered " what happened " to all the people on forums.

I was on the Aussie WNA board for 5 years and it was incredibly busy. But what happened to the 500 odd people who were posting daily? Did they just migrate to other forums? How does something that was such a big part of your life not go replaced?

And of course the original PW for a few years.

It's like " are we alone in the universe? " we're either drifting along on some rock all by ourselves or there's other life out there and and we both just don't know it.
