I'm taking the 49ers and not just because I'm bitter. KC got here by beating a team who's defence couldn't stop a toddler with a broken leg, and an offence that looked like a bunch of toddlers with broken legs. Mahomes will do Mahomes things but it won't be enough. SF's defence will settle in after the first half and it'll be the Brock Purdy show in the 2nd.

Some of the win over Detroit was the Lions doing Lions things but a lot of that was the 49ers showing that their offence is fucking scary. And I don't think KC has the answer.

KC comes out guns blazing and goes up early, probably even leading at halftime, but it'll be close and the 49ers will blow them out in the 2nd half. Final score 34-23. Purdy is MVP then he goes home with Taylor Swift and Jason Kelce dies of alcohol poisoning after accidentally flying to Buffalo.

You know, the two Super Bowls the Chiefs won they were down at half time and that’s before we had a defense that has given up 10 TOTAL points in the second half of the three playoff games so far. 

It should be interesting to see second half Brock Purdy vs the immovable second half defense of the Chiefs.

I’ve been feeling incredibly confident, which isn’t good as the only previous SB I went in feeling this way was against TB. So I did a good deep dive on the numbers yesterday to read how the 49ers are incredible and especially skilled at the things the Chiefs defense does poorly, etc.

I’d still pick Chiefs, but I threw a couple bucks at CMC for MVP as a hedge.

But RT is right, the 49ers offense was SCARY last week. If Brock Purdy has truly mastered the pinball pass off defenders helmets, the whole league is in trouble.

Initially I was going to pick the 49ers, but I think to bet against The Chiefs would be just sour grapes for me.

It's not a revolutionary take but the Chiefs ability to stop McCaffrey is going to be so critical. Against Baltimore Spags successfully loaded the box early to discourage the Ravens from running the ball, but one of Shanahan's biggest improvements as playcaller is that he's not letting the defence dictate what he wants to call. San Francisco uses more 21 and 22 personnel than anyone, and KC will have to go with three linebackers to match up rather than playing six defensive backs which they would prefer to do. They've also lost a couple of starters on the d-line which means Chris Jones will be playing more on the edge to compensate against the 49ers extreme effectiveness on zone runs.

Not going to lie I’m a little nervous for the Niners can’t afford for another slow starts not against the Chiefs but even get into a early start which is a big if hope they don’t blew a lead like last time few years ago.

Was just reading a bunch of stuff about this game. CMC may very well go for 200 all purpose yards, but if we can shut down Deebo, Aiyuk and Kittle, let them.

Another neat fact: Did you guys know that the Niners are 0-3 against the Mahomes led Chiefs?

I think my biggest fear has been that this is a replay of the game against Green Bay. They ran all over us, controlled the clock, a few mistakes and the game was never completely out of reach but never felt attainable either. Then I remember we were down our two best linebackers that game, so that calms me down a little, and that had MVS caught the pass to him we still might have pulled it off, and there’s no Skyy Moore to give up on fade patterns, etc.

But still the GB game was the most crushing defeat of the year by a team that just completely outplayed the Chiefs.

Stoked to see Myles Garrett win DPOY solely because it will have annoyed Rags. Big night for the Browns altogether picking up four awards.

Lamar winning MVP was expected but doing it nearly unanimously wasn't - I thought CMC would receive a few first-place votes.

A team winning both offensive and defensive rookie awards in consecutive years is kinda wild.

Glad to see Devin Hester get in the HoF this time around, while Antonio Gates not going in first ballot was surprising.

And it really does, dude played himself out of the award the last 3rd of the season, winning purely off PFF’s campaigning is a bitch. It’s an Ohio based company owned by a former Bengal and led by a Browns fan, but nobody bats and eye at them marking minor stats higher just to give him an edge. How do you make history and lose out to a guy who disappeared the last several weeks? Rhetorical question, 100% politics.

Yeah because the Browns have had so much success in awards season over the past decade.
