We have fish cakes here too. I don't like standard fish cakes but I recently went to a Thai restaurant that had fish cakes for starters and I decided to try them. They were amazing!

We have a similar naming problem for what I would call a bread roll. It's a bread roll or a roll for short. Anything else is broken and wrong. A bun if it has icing on it or it is sweet

This is where Adelaide lose all the credit they might have earned with potato fritter, this is just stupid. The rest of us agree on schooner & pint and those are the only size beers you should be ordering.

McDonalds is still king of breakfast. I know Hardees should reign supreme, but they don't have enough locations and certainly none near me. CFA is decent and their biscuits are pretty good but they lack the variety. Something about those Hotcakes yo... I know it's just microwaved from frozen but it hits different. Not sure if it's just generic ones you can find in the freezer section or if they have their own...

Story of my life. As @admin commented on, South Australia calling schooners “Pints” is inexcusable considering Pint is a measurement. Though it annoys me we still have 7oz glasses and so forth despite the imperial System not being used in Australia.

Aussie blokes, does our fine country have a decent Mexican take-away?
I see there's " Taco Bills " in Melbourne. But Zambrero surely isn't our best Mexican chain in Oz. Plus it's too clean, too woke and there isn't a lucha libre mask in sight.

I wouldn't be able to vouch for their quality but up here it's Guzman y Gomez, Burrito Bar and Taco Bell. We got a few Zambreros opening up, but the only other chain that comes to mind is Montezumas which is one of those last minute dine-in restraunts you go to. Problem with Mexican food is that I only have it once every few years, so if you whack guac, salsa, sour cream, cheese and corn chips on a plate - I'm a happy camper.
Do you guys have a go-to Mexican meal? When push comes to shove, I'm ordering the beef fajitas.

Enchiladas.
I'm also very much a fan of the Old El Paso kits.

Not fast food but kinda funny coincidence: I made burrito bowls for dinner tonight. When we order take out though I usually go with enchiladas with red sauce. Beans and rice as a side. Or I get a chimichanga but since moving to Edmonton I haven't found anywhere that does those well. I rarely order tacos for takeout because I can make them just as easily at home, and we eat them often. One of our go-to meals that everyone in our house enjoys.

Hold on I think we have found something that incy and I are in lockstep on?! GYG hands down for me too, and a Cali burrito is my order. There is a Mad Mex near my office and it is shithouse in comparison, the meat is flavourless and the rice and salsa are watery.

Is your local Arby’s infested with old people as well? Mine is lousy with white hairs. I only went to Arby's recently to try the new burger because I heard it was good (it was fine), and the place was empty. Come to think of it, any time I drive by an Arby's it's either empty or has like two fat trades guys that gave up on their health a long time ago. I honestly don't know how Arby's stays in business in Canada. And Burger King too for that matter. I never see them busy. Ever. Seems like Canadians go for McDonald's, Wendy's, DQ & A&W and that's it. Every other fast food chain up here is a ghost town whenever I see one. EDIT: oh and Taco Bell. Those always have people in them. It's probably why we don't have more chains up here. They would be packed for like two months then we would all go back to what we are familiar with. I wonder if fast food tourism is a thing? When I went to Scottsdale a few months ago I went to as many different fast food places as I could.

One reason I made this thread was well, I had relapsed a bit. Been using the CFA app and the owner keeps sending me free coupons. Not an excessive amount but enough that I notice. Are sales hurting because of prices or is it basic marketing to keep you coming back in?

Got a Popeye's gift card on February 23rd. It's been downhill ever since. What's up with that? Used my card again today and Popeye's just isn't hitting the spot like it did pre-2/23. It's still fine. It's fried chicken. Of course it's fine. Fine is the floor for fried chicken. But it just isn't GLORIOUS anymore. Could be this new Popeye's I've been going to just isn't that good? My normal one doesn't accept gift cards. Again, what's up with that? Pretty sure they're too stupid to figure out how gift cards work. I tried twice, and twice, after failing, they said "NO! NO GIFT CARD! DO NOT ACCEPT!" For the 3rd time, what's up with that?

Popeyes just feels like that place. The skits on tiktok are just surveillance videos. Prices are insane for fried chicken so that'd be the one time I'd wanna go, gift card.

Oh, I only go with coupon or gift card. Lack of coupons is why I never went to Popeye's before last year. ============ Both Arby's around here are usually empty when I go. It's been that way for well over a decade. Not sure how either one has remained in business this long.

BK by my house closed during covid and hasn't reopened since. They just put a blanket over the sky sign. I guess when those mashed video about stats my city will be part of the "BK set to close 1000" restaurants. We're one of them!

Then you can go to the usual Popeyes and compare.
