I certainly wasn't expecting this and also understand wanting to push the match and make it seem like a bigger deal by booking bigger names to coincide with the Andre documentary.
However, I can't see what Goldberg winning would do or what benefit it would have.

The A Part of this I'm in favor in. BUT, to have Goldberg win it? 176% against it. I hate to have a retiree win it, when there are a ton of young men that deserve it way more than he would.

The ATGMBR has literally meant dick for every winner to come out of it. So yes, 177% ( ) support Bill Goldberg winning it.

Might as well it does nothing for your career. Cesaro got depushed after winning it. Big Show didn't do anything with it. Nothing happen when Baron Corbin won it. Mojo got a few segments but nothing happen for him

Well here's a novel idea. Instead of relying on old timers in yet another spot at Mania, push the young talent that wins it after the fact, maybe they try that this year.

I was talking to Undertaker to yesterday and he told me that Vince is wanting Undertaker to bring Andre back to life at WM34. Vince has collected all of his ashes and Taker is going to work his black magic with papa shango and the boogy man using there combined powers as well. Then the true andre competes in his own battle royal

I will 2nd the notion of Hogan winning it all given his history with Andre. Hulk Hogan back in the WWE in 2018 should happen.

Well...they tried that with Mojo... Which was the problem from the outset. He's still so green. If you give a young talent that's actually got some in ring ability a sustained push, a focus on winning the battle royal and then go on with it, it'll seem important. If nothing else it'd be better then the nightmare of Hogan winning it, I really wish people didn't want to see him yet again, there's no reason for it that I can conceive.

The Battle Royal is named after a guy who was pretty much used as an attraction , yet someone who would be used as essentially an attraction shouldn't win it? Bullshit.

He was getting over with the we the people group and swinging people as a heel. He won the battle royal to a huge reaction. They team him up with Heyman and had him stop swinging people to gain heel heat. Then he lost nearly all his momentum he was building up. He didn't recover for a long time.

Somehow, cesaro being cheered as a heel is bad yet Lesnar and Strowman get cheered and it's ok.

Somehow, cesaro being cheered as a heel is bad yet Lesnar and Strowman get cheered and it's ok. Strowman isn't a heel , he constantly plays to the crowd and eats up the cheers. There is nothing about the way he is booked or presented that suggests he is a heel - he doesn't really have allegiances to either side.

Cesaro was pushed for 3 months afterwards and it didn't pan out for one reason or another. It wasn't until Money in the Bank where the WWE gave up on him and fed him to Kofi Kingston.
The Big Show won to position him for a match with Roman, which turned out better than expected.
Corbin's win marked his debut on the main roster and he was booked strong afterwards, much to the chagrin of others.
Mojo is the only outlier, and even so, it was clearly to get Gronk involved. Celebrities and Wrestlemania go hand-in-hand, so it wasn't completely shocking. In fact the most shocking thing about the whole ordeal was that Jinder freakin' Mahal finished as the runner up. How did that pan out again?

Cesaro still gets the "first ATGMBR winner," rub on commentary even to this day, so that's something. He was never going to be a main eventer and has done pretty well for himself over the years, so I don't see what the issue there is.
Big Show had to win it because he's Big Show.
Baron Corbin winning it was their excuse to push him into title pictures, and they did.
Mojo Rawley winning was an excuse to get Gronk on TV during the event, nothing more. So I can see them trying to get some credibility to the match back this year, what with being the 5th anniversary and all. If they want to do a special moment and have an alum win, that'd be fine.

Cesaro still gets the "first ATGMBR winner," rub on commentary even to this day, so that's something. It is something, though? I think it's nothing. It's a meaningless tag line, and the fact that it's one of the highest accolades the announcers give him isn't a sign of a great career. Fair point about Baron Corbin. His win did springboard a push to the top of the Smackdown card, but I feel as if they could have just done that anyway without him winning a poor excuse for a Royal Rumble.

Well I just mean that it's something that will follow him for his whole career. When they list his accolades, it isn't just "first ATGMBR winner," there's also his multiple tag team title wins, US title run, etc.
Plus that clip of him throwing Big Show over the top and the pop he got will be shown forever.

Nia Jax should win it! Why not? That would be glorious. Nia Jax and Goldberg as the final two. Goldberg hits a Spear, Jax slips out of the Jackhammer, shoves Goldberg over the top rope, nuclear heat.

Nia Jax winning is actually a really good idea if they're going to keep her around for a while. She sucks in the ring and should never with the title, so why not give her this?
I like it.
