also who's getting shafted for time tonight? Probably nobody. As Shibata's match is probably a jobber squash.

Okada getting a bit soft in the midsection. I got no problem with that (who am I to judge?), but he may want to go a size up on his trunks to curb the muffin top.
…
Anyways, the Triple Crown gimmick is already dead, huh?
Hopefully they quickly unify the Continental with the International.

Yeah that is weird there is a continental and international title. I also hope they are unified. Okada unifying them would help get him established in AEW.
Triple Crown's days were numbered with the Mark title match in RoH. Mark should have a RoH title run, and now is the time. Besides RoH needs a champ that works the shows.

Hopefully they quickly unify the Continental with the International. I wouldn't say it's dead, just that now someone has to win all 3 titles to become the next Modern Day Triple Crown. I kinda like the fact that it's something that will be very hard to do. Yeah they definitely did this angle for Eddie Kingston to give him a major accolade without giving him the World Championship, but it's whatever. Doesn't hurt anybody. I agree though that they should have just used the International title in place of making a new title. Or you scrap the whole Triple Crown idea altogether and the Continental Championship is just an award/trophy like KOTR or the G1 or BOLA that is just won in a tournament every year and isn't an actual title that someone carries around and defends. But they already have the Owen Hart Cup, so, yeah...should have just used the International title. Eddie gets to call himself the first Modern Day Triple Crown, you give a little more prestige to your mid-card belt, and it doesn't look as confusing when you eventually split up the 3 titles again and someone else tries to win them all down the road. You can even still have an annual tournament if you want to. International champ is automatically entered every year. 11 other top mid-carders join the tournament and winner takes the title. It actually would have been a really interesting angle having Orange Cassidy in the tournament, considering how banged up he was and how his whole shtick was that defending the title so often was killing him, and now he has to endure this grueling tournament against some of the very best in AEW. Him falling short in the Round Robin and finishing 2nd to Kingston or Danielson, watching his title slip from his grasp and get won by someone else without his involvement, would have been a compelling ending to his run.

Also let's face reality, that was a shadow of the real triple crown anyway. Triple crown was at one time the top belts in the world basically. This was three b-titles.
I do agree though the title should be an honorable one, but a belt. But this is Tony, so he will keep making belts until he realizes how stupid it is for everyone to have a title.

But he’s not the first triple crown champ of the modern era. He’s not even the first in AEW: Kenny was the AEW, TNA/Impact and AAA champion at the same time just a few years ago. Given Kingston isn’t defending all the belts together, there’s no difference IMO.

He can remind everyone he was the first belt collector in AEW and didn't need a silly title invented for him to get there.

AEW Dynamite rundown!
Mercedes Moné opens the show again to say some words and play a video. It was all "I'm the CEO, I'm the best, I have an attitude." She also said she wants to start a women's revolution. OK. What do you mean by that? What are you revolting against? Explain yourself. But she won't, because she does what a typical CEO does - throw out buzzwords that sound good without any context in an attempt to win over the masses.
I'm enjoying the backstage interviews with Matthew, Nicholas and The Rainmaker Kazuchika Okada. Speaking of which, Okada gets changed in double quick time to step into the ring with Eddie Kingston. I love the fact that Okada is trying something different, working a more chickenshit heel style than he has ever done before. If Eddie and Okada had fought in the G1 last year, the match would have been completely different. However Okada is still finding his feet in that style so the match wasn't great, just good. Okada wins surprisingly easily and moves on to feud with PAC.
Chris Jericho vs Hook. I skim-watched the match. I kept seeing the same thing. Hook suplexes Jericho three times. Jericho retaliates with a couple of chops. Suplexes. Chops. Suplexes. Chops. Jericho hit a Lionsault at some point. Hook won with a Small Package. I notice the crowd booing Jericho a lot. Jericho is interviewed backstage and says Hook earnt his respect, blah blah blah.
Will Ospreay comes out to say some more words. He praises Danielson vs Shibaahdah. I wasn't impressed with his promo last week, but this one was much better. A direct and strong response to Danielson's words. He finishes by issuing a challenge to Shibaahdah. Exciting!
Thunder Rosa pins Toni Storm in a tag match. Welcome back to the main event, Rosa. Deonna does not look impressed, that's also interesting.
More interesting things happen as Don Callis inserts Takeshita into the World Title picture. Takeshita vs Swerve is mouth-watering.
In the I Quit match blowing off a heated feud, Edge and Christian take the time to put on hockey jerseys to pop the crowd with some kind of sports reference. Moments later Christian runs into the women's bathroom, the camera catching some screaming women running out. That was funny. OK, they're not being tone deaf, they're leaning into the comedy. It's a bit weird but I appreciate it. They'll get serious later I'm sure.
Edge finds a gnarly way of using a ladder by placing it upside down and dropping Christian ribs first onto the thin support beam. Obviously they're just brawling until Christian's cronies show up. First out is Nick's mom who low blows Edge with a hockey stick. I wonder why the heel never starts a No DQ match by having his entire team just destroy the opponent from the start. Why wrestle one on one when you don't have to? But this is pro-wrestling so Killswitch and Nick's mom's son wait until Edge is about to win before showing up. Oh wow, Edge has friends too! Daniel Garcia and those two other guys show up. They tie Killswitch and Nick's mom's son to turnbuckles. Nick's mom's son's mom runs away. Christian is speared and handcuffed to a third turnbuckle. This ain't looking good for the champion. Edge kicks Christian in the gonads repeatedly, then pulls out the spiky club. He low blows Christian with the club, in a spot that genuinely made my jaw drop. That tough son of a gun Christian still doesn't quit, until Edge raises the club high above his head. Christian quits. Great finish.

I don't know how they pulled off the low blow with Spike without exploding Christian's entire crotch. That looked so gnarly.
