RT's Day 12 A song from my preteen years
I could have just posted the same song I posted for Day 11 but whatever.
I'm throwing this one up because when I think back to when I first started listening to music on my own, this was probably the biggest song amongst my friends and I at the time. I got gifted both Smash and Dookie on my 10th birthday and I remember listening to this song specifically in my bedroom. The swearing caught my mom's attention and she made me give both tapes (yes they were cassette tapes) over to her. I was very embarrassed.
But that is probably why I fell in love with punk music and still listen to it to this day, so good job mom your censorship worked exactly as you intended.

Day 12- Preteen Years
My brother and I grew up without cable. Casey Kasem's America's Top Ten aired very early on Saturday mornings. We're talking 6, maybe 7 a.m. This phase didn't last too long before I went back to sleeping in an extra hour on Saturday mornings and primarily moved onto country music for the next 3-4 years, but we were obsessed with that Casey Kasem countdown show for a few months during the 90-91 school year. It was must-see television which basically served as our MTV. Three of the big songs from that show/era were my Day 1- Warrant's I Saw Red, Day 2- Timmy T's One More Try, and this one, Damn Yankees High Enough. Today's song of the day also earns also bonus points for featuring a young Shawn Michaels as lead singer. Look at that guy and tell me I'm wrong.

Day 10: Sad Songs
Skipped this one the other day because I like going with my gut but didn't really like the way my gut was feeling that day. This is the ideal Harry Chapin category. Dude wrote so many sad songs that he later wrote a song parodying his penchant for writing sad songs! Also would have been a good spot to get the mighty Meat on the board. Or The Boss. Or finally drop a country classic. Lots of good choices. I even made a playlist! But my gut was Poisoned. It immediately coughed up a Poison song. 2nd choice? Also a Poison song!
Moral of the Story: If you want to write a memorable sad song put “sad, sad song” in the lyrics (subtlety is for nerds and the birds) and make sure your other slow jam is featured on the Monster Ballads commercial that aired approximately every 5 seconds for 5 years until the line "every bad boy has a soft side" was permanently burned into the brain of Real Ones who then went out to by the album and listen to it approximately three gazillion times.
So in the end I had to go with my gut. In the tossup between Gut Choice #1 Every Rose Has Its Thorn and Gut Choice #2 Something To Believe In I went with Demon Semen's signature song which also happened to be a favorite of early-mid 2000s Hotties*. Get ready to sigh, cry, and wave those lighters high...
*Mt. Rushmore of Early-Mid 2000s Hottie Faves
1. It's My Life- Bon Jovi 2. Sweet Caroline- Neil Diamond 3. Don't Stop Believin'- Journey 4. Every Rose Has Its Thorn- Poison
You're just gonna have to trust me on this one. What a time to be alive...
HM: Freebird- Lynyrd Skynyrd. Just because of Molly. Y'know, out of all of 'em she's the one I think about the most nowadays. Gosh, this is getting depressing. Maybe I should listen to Monster Ballads? Great idea!

A song from my preteen years...well I didn't start listening to my own music until I was at least 14. Before that I pretty much absorbed the 60s-70s pop music my parents enjoyed. And musicals. My mother's favourite musical is Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and the opening song is really good.
I like many songs from the 70s. Here's an awesome Judas Priest song.

Day 12: A song from my preteen years. I was 11 at the time it was released, and it got me interested in rock music. Hand In My Pocket - Alanis Morissette I dislike Alanis. Not the person, just her music. I think I like maybe two songs by her: Head Over Feet and Uninvited. If I never heard any of the rest again for the rest of my life including the two I don't mind, it wouldn't impact my life any. I think it's because she came out when I was in high school and she was EVERYWHERE. Especially here- being as she was Canadian- so every radio channel, every person was listening to Alanis. Friends from high school called me up when she was here last summer (I think it was) and I was like 'Thanks for the invite, but I loathe her music'. Ironically (no pun intended), my daughter loves her.

Day 14 - Song Played at your Wedding: Following in the spirit of UT 's post and since likely I'll never walk down the aisle again (unless it's with The Rock), this was my wedding song. First time I've listened to it in 20+ years probably. Your Love (is the greatest gift of all) - Michelle Wright

Day 14: A song I'd like played at my wedding.
Well, I don't think it's gonna happen for me. But don't worry, I'm comfortable with my bachelor life. But if I was to somehow ever get married, I'd go with something a little bit up-tempo.

I already posted the song we danced to at our wedding. Here's another song from that wonderful day. My wife is a huge fan of Keane - she saw them two nights ago - and we both love this song. Don't know if Keane are well known outside the UK but they had a massive album in the 2000s.

Day 14 - A song I’d like played at my wedding
Amazed - Lonestar Have always loved this song, even told System years ago this is a song I would have if we got married 😂 Apparently it’s one of the most popular wedding songs but I haven’t heard it played at anyone else’s wedding so who knows 😂 there is a few other songs that would be my choices too but this is one of the tops for sure
