I thought TK taking the high road the day of that Punk interview with Halwani and downplaying it during ROH conf. calls was the best decision he could have done, thought real growth was being shown. see, the issue there is that Dustin tried pinning him after only one Cross Rhodes. Even Cody, the guy who uses it all the time, knows the move isn't very powerful and goes for like three minimum

I’ve said it before, but I keep thinking of the post-Montreal Screwjob interview Vince did. The one with the epic “Bret Screwed Bret” line.

Vince was delusional enough to think that was a Babyface promo.

This week showed it clear.  Seeing more and more outside of AEW talk about toxic tribalism from fans who seem to only engage with wrestling to talk about how much they hate stuff, and never seem to enjoy any product.  These are the people trashing AEW the loudest.

For four years now week in and week out we are told AEW is dying. But AEW now is months away from going profitable. The metrics people claim Tony needs to survive are only true if he plans to payout investors and execs like WWE has to. To just keep the lights on, he is still more than fine with the gates and ratings he is getting.

Worse yet, they're comparing AEW to WCW in 2000.  That's a load of bullshit.  WCW, I dare say, felt like a third place fed at best in 2000.  AEW, even at its worst, is a million times better than that.

WCW 2000 was terrible. And there's no doubt AEW 2024 is a much better product.

I don't think they're talking about the quality of the show, rather the over-reliance on shoot interviews/storylines to the detriment of the show. The Bucks took all the heat off themselves, FTR, Perry and put it on Punk.

I spose you could argue it's more like WWF 1996 with Fake Diesel and Fake Razor, a desperate attempt at trying to capitilise on the other promotion's momentum.

It rarely works out, the only time I remember a company getting away with being spiteful was when the WWF debuted Gillberg. That was petty stupid television yet it didn't hurt business and it's fondly remembered because Goldberg is such a polarising figure.
