Obviously last night was epic and the new era has promise and it’s still early but so far to me it shows the WWE and HHH have a ways to go to rebuild this product. Most things outside the main story still lack traction or relevance and the fact that Ricochet/Bronson Reed and Jey USO are all fighting for a “world title” shot against Priest proves that.
I have faith they can move the needle moving forward but there’s still just too much nothing happening.

Now Jimmy Uso will challenge Cody Rhodes for the title.

Def a letdown of a post-mania. The energy was there, but the show just didn't bring it.

WrestleMania was incredible, but that was terrible.
Rock/Cody went far too long and is the Cody character slow? Last year Brock turns on him in a move he should have saw coming, beats him up for months on end then gives him his props and leaves. Now The Rock has done the same thing and you let him hold your belt?
Not a single debut/return or anything of that nature.
We have Jey Uso VS Damian Priest soon, that’s about the only storyline development from this whole show.

They're still champs of their brand so unless the belts are taken off them, they're still NXT property. Besides Roxy has debuted before in the rumble and I think on 1-2 matches before on the main roster.

We all know I love HHH, I love Cody Rhodes and most important I love The Rock, but 45 minute promo to open RAW. I mean if I'm there and I get The Rock and Cena, that's pretty swell but that's a lot of blah blah blah with not much in the way of payoff for me watching at home. To me it was less than I was expecting, but it did show proof of long-term planning so I'm here for that. I might be in the minority but Priest vs Jey Uso does not sound like a WHC title match. I actually can't believe it is.

Problem WWE had for a while is Roman was always portrayed as a league above the Raw champ. Cody got a two year build for his title win, so he now on a league similar to Roman. Makes the other title look like the IC title would if we were in a time of less belts.
Not super into this show, but the fans were and that really matters more.
Dragunov and Perez did not get moved up to the main roster IMO yet. They were showcased for the draft coming. Ava seemed to hint NXT also gets to draft. Kind of expect HHH to use this to give the three brands unique identities. NXT has a distinct identity, but the other two really do not anymore.

I have faith they can move the needle moving forward but there’s still just too much nothing happening. I imagine the plan right now is not moving the needle but preparing for the restructuring that will happen in Oct. Raw goes off the air in Oct, so they need to figure out a way to deal with some people watching on cable, and some people watching on streaming where there may not be an overlap between the two. And they got six months or so to do it. Plus need to figure out what to do with the Raw roster since no shows will air for a three month block. WWE really never been in a spot like this in the modern era where a bunch of fans may get paywalled, or having a show that has no place to air the matches for months.

One title always meant a lot more than the other, especially when John Cena was the Champion. It was at a point where the " World's Heavyweight " was a laughing stock, ie; Jack Swagger as Champion. That's how far it had fallen. It's the one thing WWE has always struggled with - how do you make both titles mean something?

Make sense. I did not watch much wrestling during that era as was in grad school and did not have much free time. 6am review sessions also meant was getting up at 4:30 during the week so staying up to 10 or 11 was not an option.

That's how far it had fallen. It's the one thing WWE has always struggled with - how do you make both titles mean something? Frankly, I liked Swagger. He was more Main title holder material than Priest. The issue is always differentiating between between shows (A & B shows) and titles (A & B titles). Also lack of building stars or differentiating greatly between Upper Card and Mid Card. You have your upper tier guys and then there's the rest. Is there anyone right now you see as 'breakout'? Maybe LA Knight but otherwise... We should want to see Priest vs Jey Uso, but when you compare them to guys like AJ Styles, KO, Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Drew Mac I mean it's glaringly obvious that they aren't on that same level. I should mention, there's nothing wrong with being a solid mid carder. You need those wrestlers. The issue is having too many mid carders or not enough transitioning to the Upper Level.

Cody is getting stale as a face and needs to turn heel.
If you ask me wearing suits and using big words like Bockwinkle he is already a heel

Have they introduced another mid card title for the guys or something? Damien/Jey is not it.
Unless we’re going to get a faction war out of it and Jey going back to the dark side to get his first title. And DM HUNK can just go after everyone.
But they really should not un-do all the work they’ve done since splitting him from the Bloodline!

The World Heavyweight Championship has taken several steps back. McIntyre ranting about the absurdity that is the MITB was fun but not worth the suffering we are about to endure. I knew Jey was going to win but Punk tripping McIntyre did not amuse me.
You could have Punk tormenting McIntyre when he is the champion. The booking team must have been like "we need to do something with MITB at Wrestlemania because time is up" and they came up with that. Ugh.

They're still NXT but getting some exposure to main roster crowds, which will help for whenever they do get called up.
In kayfabe they're at the top level of the developmental league; they should be able to put up a decent showing against some of the main roster peeps or what's the point?

Internet Summer 2023: Jey really needs to be the guy to dethrone Roman for the biggest title in the company.
Internet Spring 2024: Jey just isn’t believable as the #2 champion in the company, why he here?!?!?
You guys.
Jey Uso is over like rover and hot despite them putting the brakes on his run so he could have a WrestleMania match against his brother. His Mania match may have been lackluster but he has shined in just about every other singles match he has done.
You mother lovers haven’t been down since day one-ish and it shows.

Early ratings are saying Cody / Roman segment in Raw drew 3.2 million viewers. That’s incredible.
2.3 million show average.

Throwback to 11 years ago when the Rock introduced a new WWE title belt and Cody came out and asked if he could look at it.
It was after Raw went off the air but still… that’s some long term booking right there.
