This was the only fun thing on a forum I was part of a couple of years ago, so I'm stealing it for here. I'm here for a good time, not sure a long time. 

The idea is simple once we get all that are interested.

There will be a variety of song subjects (decades, metal, theme song, etc), you send me a song to compete against your opponent. Opponent? Yes indeed, you'll be going up against a fellow member head-to-head, new opponent every round.  First come first serve...If you pick a song that's been taken, I'll message you back. You can send a top 3 if you have backups.

The others will vote for their favorite song in each head-to-head matchup. Then they will also pick their top 3 songs of the round for bonus points. Now this doesn't have to be winning songs. If there's a really tough matchup and you like both songs and hate that you had to pick one over the other...throw the other a top 3 vote. After all the rounds and bonus points are added up, we have our winner. We can keep doing this if it becomes a thing. 

Everyone will know what the matchups are, but you won't know who picked what songs and will be voting just for the songs.  You won't be able to talk about your picks and you can't vote for yourself, you must vote for your opponent. 

If anyone is interested, please sign up and I'm here to answer any questions as we go. 

In case you're wondering, I'm running this, so I'll always have the last pick after everyone has gotten their songs into me.

I'll announce the topic of the first round and the matchups when I get home from work in a few of hours.

This was never announced, and I was just asked about it.

Deadlines will be 48 hours to get your songs in after the topic thread goes up and 48 hours to vote on the matchups once those have been posted.

I think two days for both should be long enough. If anyone is opposed, let me know.

I just want to say I really like the anonymous contests, keeping the individuals a secret, voting for songs only.

Agreed. It's all about the music. Plus, with only twelve of us, it should be fairly easy to find songs, until it's not. Then it'll get interesting as we do a couple of these, because we won't be able to reuse songs that'll fit other themes coming up. It's a lot of fun. Hopefully, we can add people in the future.

I was asked why we can't vote for our own songs? Simple answer...because. LOL.

Seriously, everyone would. Everyone would and give themselves bonus points. I know bonus points are only worth 1 point, but normally it's 3 points for #1, 2 points for #2 and 1 point for #3. We didn't have a lot of people, so I kept it simple. If we get more people interested, bonus points will change. I just don't think you should vote for your own song.

I'll be putting the standings in the first post.

Could we not vote for our own song but it can’t be voted as a bonus? I don’t mind voting for the other song if it’s genuinely better than the one I picked but if I’m voting for a song I hate it’s not that fun 😂

Nope

You have at this moment (11) other songs to vote for, you can find a top 3. Music is subjective, it's not "better" for everyone. I really don't think this has to be such a sticking point. My goodness...vote for your fellow players.

I like the idea of not voting for yourself in any facet, and I think it should be your fav 3 regardless if your opponent is apart of that or not but I get the strategy behind that.

I misunderstood how this would actually work so no longer interested.

Voting for your opponent seems to be to keep anonymity while voting is going on. It's not a big deal to do so.

I don’t like voting for myself, but I actually thought it was going to be anonymous until the very end and points wouldn’t be announced after each round. I just like the idea of voting for the best songs, and the song I’m going up against may be shit 😂
