I work with someone non-binary. I have zero problem calling them “they/them,” despite the fact they’re originally female and are fully female presenting. I don’t even think about it. There’s a lot of nuance in this topic. A few years ago, the Me Too movement took over the world. “Believe women” was the mantra. But now when the conversation becomes women outright saying they’re uncomfortable with men in their spaces, it’s dismissed. We don’t get to believe “those” women, because it no longer fits the narrative. RT, I respect this convo hits close to home, and I can understand irrational dad brain overtaking the ability to debate a topic you’re too close to. I won’t tag you again, but just wanted to say that.

Serious question - what is stopping any man from going into a women’s restroom right now and assaulting someone? There isn’t some magical force field that keeps men out and the only way to get in is to proclaim yourself female. It’s the basic decency that virtually every person possesses. People who want to assault women will do so regardless of any rules. I reject the premise of this question. Literally every law (or policy) can be broken in the way you outlined. Laws are deterrents, not magic spells. Exactly

I read that they are now looking to add a pro-Trump voice to their panel. I honestly might watch the show if they do that. Someone needs to put these stupid bitches in their places, especially the extremely vile, racist, Sunny Hostin. Seriously, this woman doesn't even try to hide her disdain for white people, especially white women. She is the morning version of Joy Reid.

Michinokudriver Tooth decay has declined precipitously regardless of fluoridated water. If the fluoridation is of no benefit, and it does not seem to be, then there is no rationale for its use. As Brainworm Bobby points out, any time that he has litigated a case, there are experts on both sides, sometimes graduates of the same university, arguing exact opposite points. One individual can find a study pointing to the ill effects of fluoride in water, another can find a study that concludes the opposite ... Fluoridated water seems to fall under the category, 'probably won't help; might hurt'. Re: countries listed - it may not be in the water but they're still getting it

Except we do have proof that Kamala slept with Willie Brown, who promoted her. Even given that (at the time she would have been 26 and he 60, so certainly plausible) sleeping with Willie may have gotten her foot in the door to *checks Wiki* the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board but that's really about as far as his word can get her.
Willie Brown doesn't have the power to get her elected DA. Or Attorney General of CA, or Senator, or appointed to
the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Brown may or may not have gifted her Step 1 in her career, but everything after that is all her

It at least is an existing word and is a mostly quick and natural substitution for he/she, which makes it far superior to the short lived "xe"
other assorted thoughts: Rep. McBride herself is taking the stance of 'fine, whatever, I'll use the guys' bathroom, now can we get back to lowering the prices of eggs please'
perhaps trans people would not have such high rates of suicidal tendencies if people mostly left them alone? like, I can't imagine a world where I have to run into a bathroom to drop a deuce and have everyone around me going "why are you going into the bathroom? are you some kind of SEX PERVERT?"
that said, while I do believe bathrooms aren't really something to be overly concerned about (there are individual stalls, after all) locker rooms, where one can reasonably expect to be naked and having bits dangling about, are a completely different story and the best, easiest solution I can see is to have there be a few individual private showers/rooms set aside, most likely with a "for use by anyone" sign on it

But if you're truly living the gimmick, and you believe your are in fact a woman, you're not going to use a gender neutral bathroom are you.
I can already see the TikTok as an offended head of broccoli argues with a Karen while ranting about once upon a time having different bathrooms for coloured people and now they're doing the same thing to trans people.

Sure you are, unless you're looking to be offended (and I don't particularly want to spend much brainpower trying to preemptively outfox bad-faith actors).
"This restroom is for anyone regardless of gender identity" already exists and I, for one, haven't heard any feedback and can't imagine it couldn't be quickly and reasonably applied to solo showers. There are plenty of people, trans or otherwise, who don't feel comfortable being naked around anyone in a locker room.

Michinokudriver , Some interesting examples there. Netherlands, apparently, is one country that does not consume fluoridated salt, at least not commonly, and it ranks third best on the list in terms of lack of dental disease. According to this article of Biblical proportions (page 148 😳), "In other countries (for example Austria, Spain, Slovakia) fluoridated salt is used on a very limited scale. The sale of fluoridated salt would be legal in Greece and in the Netherlands . . . but there seems to be no interest in this preventive method". Only in Germany and Switzerland do at least 2/3rds of the population consume fluoridated salt (page 152). That article also points out that once Germany started importing fluoridated salt from France in 1991, its government began a campaign both promoting it and "general rules for oral hygiene and dietary measures". It's difficult to disentangle one from the other in terms of overall efficacy, and the absence of a good program instructing the public on the latter, in the absence of fluoridated water, could be a part of the problem in Calgary.

Since Hogan has actually campaigned with Trump, what are the odds that he winds up with a job? This could be a somewhat decent position for him. ... while we are on the topic on pronouns. They/them/their might be bad grammar as a singular, but by the time I went to college in 2008, its use also wasn't frowned upon as a gender neutral alternative to he/him/his, to my memory. I have always been a proponent of the "universal he" in my writing. I have a younger friend in college now whose papers I have sometimes peer reviewed. She's a big user of "he/she", instead of picking one ... I've always edited this out with just "he". It's just too f*cking unwieldly. Pick "she" or even "they" if you like, but just pick one.

Fuck all of you who voted for him very much: globalnews.ca/news/10887991/trump-25-per-cent-tariff-canada-mexico/I especially like this part: “As everyone is aware, thousands of people are pouring through Mexico and Canada, bringing Crime and Drugs at levels never seen before,” the Republican posted.
Trump said the tariff will remain in place until both countries stop drugs, in particular fentanyl, and people from illegally crossing the borders. He said until those issues are solved Canada and Mexico will “pay a very big price!”Yes, because the US doesn't have any of those issues without us, and I'm sure it doesn't go both ways. [/sarcasm] I'm pretty sure this is a business tactic/bluff on his part to ensure a more advantageous deal somehow but if not, I hope you enjoy the tariffs too, because if you think the US manufacturers there aren't going to use this to raise their prices and feed it back to the customer, I've got some bad news for you.

Wrong. It’s a 25% tariffs on items imported, not exported. That means the importer (American businesses) pays 25% more on the goods. Trump works under the idea that US businesses will order less from importers because of the fees, and that how it economically hurts them. The reality is our supply chain is dependent on these countries, so they will continue to buy and pass through the cost to consumers in the form of higher prices. www.newsweek.com/how-tariffs-work-will-trump-plan-cause-inflation-1991653“Trump has insisted that tariffs are paid for by foreign countries, but it is importers—companies in the U.S.—that pay tariffs, and the money goes to the U.S. Treasury. Those companies typically pass their higher costs on to their customers by hiking prices. However, tariffs also hurt the exporting countries by making their products costlier and harder to sell abroad.”
