Social media analytics for stuff like that can be fun if you’re a number person. When a company posts a video to FB you get credit for a video view if someone accidentally lets it run for three seconds on auto play.

It's a shame Kilgore's data doesn't include anything about devices. I could understand the average more if somebody was watching on mobile because you're less likely to watch the video and more intent on using it as a stepping stone to the video you want to get to.
YouTube has been a game changer, especially when it comes to watching wrestling, but I dislike a lot of the content creators on there. It's just a sea of poorly edited content, reaction videos and whatever else passes off as entertainment. For years I was OK with it, but looking back I wasted so much time watching shitty videos.

I could understand the average more if somebody was watching on mobile because you're less likely to watch the video and more intent on using it as a stepping stone to the video you want to get to. YouTube does provide data for devices. The ad with Francine getting spanked, which is the thumbnail, by far the most watched ECW video I've uploaded (things haven't changed that much), has very little difference in watch habits between devices. I wondered if that was an anomaly, so I checked a Gangstas music video, which is bringing the fucking views on that channel, and you'll see some differences in device watch time. Unrelated to attention span, this just cracks me, the search terms for people who land on the Francine getting spanked video from search alone (so no related videos, or external links, they type something in and then directly click on a thumbnail of Francine's ass). 19 people landed on it simply searching "spanking," so not looking for wrestling content, just dudes into spanking going, "Fuck, that'll do." Two of them dudes are from Saudi Arabia. Or one dude from Saudi Arabia who really digged it. Also, all the videos combined, I'm pretty sure my ECW channel is the biggest sausage fest in YouTube channel history.

Doesn't sausagefest describe ECW in general though?

From my understanding youtube in general is much more a sausage fest than other media formats. Youtube is somehow male. And Pinterest is female.

To be fair to the viewers of the Joe Rogan podcast on YouTube, there’s multiple 3hr podcasts a week, I don’t think even the most patient fans are listening to all of them all the way through. Getting through all of Raw every week is enough for me.

I thought the percentages would be a lot different in terms of viewership, 3% is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I still think it says a lot about the way YouTube is designed. You're constantly reminded of other videos, so if something doesn't grab you right away, or you happen to find another video that grabs your interest, you're more likely to click it. Furthermore, I doubt most people watch the video, I'm sure most are on their social media with multiple tabs going back and forth.
I don't blame anyone for not watching the entirety of Rogan's podcast. 3 hours is a ridiculous amount of time, but I just wanted to point out how misleading views are. That's why YouTube has changed their algorithm to I believe the percentage of the video watched and how often people are watching videos from the one channel.
It all amounts to common sense. YoUTube is a useful resource that's changed the way we share and interact with media, but it shouldn't be used as a primary source of education.
