What's easier a messy divorce with child custody being disputed or getting out of a gym contract? Once upon a time Ness had one. Got suckered into one of those $10/mo. deals. I wanted to be ready for basic training. When it came time to end it... problems.
You can't just say you're done. Nope gotta get it in writing. It's a good lesson though. If it's not in writing there is no agreement. I've read about major headaches people have to endure to end their contract. First you gotta send them a certified letter so you have proof. Can't change your credit card numbers because some banks will tell them the new number. And if not they can get it sent to collections.
Since then I have vowed to never sign another gym contract. Nothing that is autobilled. Don't let those jackals getting their grubby mits on your card details.
Your turn.

I never do contracts of any kind. I'm like Vince Mcmahon with my money, I don't offer guarantees I offer opportunities. I'll give the business an opportunity to earn my money but you are out of your fucking mind if you think I'm going to sign my name to a piece of paper that guarantees you my money no matter what. This is why I still use prepaid phone service and I don't do satellite dishes for TV. I damn sure ain't going to sign a contract to work out at a gym. The gym I work out at gives you the option to do like a direct pay with your bank account or you can just pay cash, but last week they raised the price to $40 a month for cash payers like me. Where the fuck do you get off charging $40 a fucking month for a rickety old gym? They can get fucked, I'll start working out in my dungeon again.

Yeah, gyms fucking suck.
If you want to lift, build out a home gym or find a buddy who's got one. Power rack in the basement or garage or shed. That's all you need.
Treadmill if you're afraid of inclement weather and hills. Otherwise find a high school or middle school track if you're just afraid of hills. For best results, just run streets and/or trails. Or just jump rope wherever you have enough clearance.
Unless you're big into shitty free classes, gyms offer nothing you wouldn't be better off setting up for yourself for a one-time cost that'll be lower over its life vs. the life of your gym membership that you may or may not use to its fullest.

I actually have to go in and renew my annual contract in person and swipe my credit card, so I've never had to deal with the hassle of trying to cancel.
(In fairness, I think the gym wouldn't mind if I got out of my contract, it's very old and I'm grandfathered in at a rate they'll probably never offer ever again.)
IMO classes are fine as long as you accept them for what they are; I would never have taken a yoga class if it weren't included in the membership and even though I went through a few teachers at a few locations til I found one that worked for me, I'm much happier and I've found a lot more bodyweight/core stuff to do. If you're just getting started then you can always find some gym rat to help you figure out what to do, the multiple locations work GREAT for me so now I can go for a run and have a gym nearby to shower before work, I can squeeze in a quick workout when I'm visiting my buddy 500 miles away.

I don't take a whole lot of pics of myself but I was getting some water at work and couldn't help but notice how jacked I'm getting in the reflection on the window of my truck. Would have been a way cooler pic if I had pulled my bandana dust mask back up over my face! I'm usually a 152 pound guy but I'm up to 180 now(sometimes I'll weigh in at 182-183 but 180 is my first thing in the morning weight right now), all natural, the first time I've ever been this big and I can still do gassers and run long distance runs, haven't had any issues with anxiety or panic attacks in a while, when I'm in the gym it's like I feel no pain, I've really gotten into it more than ever before here over the last year or so. The big difference for me has been the 200 gram a day protein diet I've been on and abandoning all the machines in the gym and focusing purely on free weights, building my whole regimen around squats, dead lifts, and clean and jerks. Feeling froggy like I could handle some MMA training, just sucks that I live so far away from the nearest MMA gym(and that I'm getting so old).

$10 / month gyms seem to have the start up fee and once a year fee for maintenance. In my mind, you have to divide those by 12 and add those to the per month.

I pay $60 a month at my gym, I signed a 2 year contract but it’s well and truly over now and just continues open ended. My gf pays $45 so I should at least try to get it lowered. I’ve only seriously been going this year after all these years, but starting to think I might just make my garage a home gym if I end up staying at my current address. Only convenient thing I would miss is the showers that are great for trips (chain gym) or when my hot water was getting fixed. already posted but I Got most active member last month though, definitely haven’t been as much this month 😂. Shin you’re looking great man, remind me of Robbie Eagles

Just wish you could buy it like car insurance. After your term it elapses if you aren't doing auto pay. But that's not how shady busisiness work. Am I wrong in getting Pauly Shore vibes from @nobi?

I wish there was a way I could post a pic of my legs without looking like a fucking weirdo, they are jammin' man. System max gains bro, you look like you've packed on some mass as well! And that's a sweet ass Manson shirt, I would totally wear that. I need to get an EC F'N W shirt and cut the sleeves off.

Never had an issue, but then again I've only ever joined one gym but just had to go in person and cancel it and sign a document. Not hassle at all. Now my lunch period at work lines up with the gym teacher, so I just run in there and pop off some sets and I have the whole place to myself. I do have some weights at home but it's nothing extreme. Other than that I pretty much just ride a bike a lot and swim. I'd never go back to paying for a gym membership though. Something about paying to do something physically taxing I find annoying and makes me hate going.

Nice. Lean and mean six footer. I’m 6’1” and about 225. Would love to lean out to 200ish. Have you ever heard of juice fasting? I got a juicer from my little brother for christmas and been using it more and more, it's pretty damn great. I been reading about juice fasting and it sounds like a great way to lose weight, I haven't been doing it because I'm trying to gain mass but I make up about 7 or 8 juices on Sundays to drink throughout the week and they give me a pretty good shot of energy when I drink one late in the day at work, I use 20 oz gatorade bottles that I save through the week and fill them each with 2 green apples, half a cucumber, half a bag of spinach, a whole carrot, a head of lettuce, and a few strawberries. The fucking mess you got to clean up though I'm getting ready to do that right now actually.

I got heavy after college and it just compounded for years until I hit 327 in 2016. Started keto andnlost 100 lbs over about eight months. Been roughly maintaining since but now focused on losing the rest.

He was around a year and I realized I was tired keeping up already. I had to change my life. After I started we found out the missus was pregnant with No. 2. It’s been a whole new world since then. I actually wrapped up a “get back into it” four week routine today. It’s been good, but I have to make it happen time-wise. Often means lifting at 9-9:30 at night and taking the boys with me on the weekend (thank god for child care on-site).

I should note the rapid weight loss coupled with a high fat diet basically shut down my gallbladder and I had it removed last October.

Im at the gym now in my truck getting ready to do legs. I felt miserable all day super sore and tired and it was like 100 degrees all day, i thought to myself all day long im done with this shit. I put in all this work every day, do all this running, all the sprints and doing abs 3 times a week and dieting and eating right and feeling like total shit all the time and i look in the mirror and get on the scale and get so discouraged because i feel like im just not seeing the results i should be seeing. I probably need some steroids, fuck that shit though, im just going to keep grinding. Lets see what happens now
