Yeah I second what UT said about Inside Out 2. I was fine with the length, but could’ve used more parent brain. Hit Man is fun and stupid, the ending was a bit out there but worth a watch.

Watched In a Violent Nature. Huge letdown. Gimmick was it is an art house style film from the POV of the killer. Huge letdown. Many said it was the horror film of the year, and it was just mid at best. Did nothing original with the killer POV. Man Bites Dog and Henry did this better. The art house style did do a lot of original stuff, but would have worked better if not in a middle of the woods setting, and if there was more story to the movie than mindless killer kills people.
Watching Watchers now. It is basically From but not as good. I imagine both used the book as an influence with this being more faithful to the book than the show that mixed it's influence with several other things. It is not bad, but another mid film. Personally I think it got shit on a little too much because it was by Ishana Night Shyamalan.

Finally watched Iron Claw and wasn't really impressed, had high hopes. Pretty disjointed, poor, and incomplete way of telling that story. I loved the first shot of the Sportatorium with all the people in the parking lot partying it up, that may have been the highlight of the whole movie capturing that vibe the way they did. But so much about this could have been way better. Thought the sizes of the actors was weird casting, Efron maybe should have played Kerry and that should have been the main focus his rise and fall, his potential, his end and how he fell apart with everything going down around him. Instead they had him looking like the runt, didn't see the need for Efron to get so jacked up if he was playing like the smallest of the brothers, dude went a little overboard on the steroids for that role I think. Just feel like the movie missed the highs and lows when it came to those spots of the story. Whole thing had the vibe of a made for TV cable movie. Missed opportunity for sure, has tempered my expectations for the Smashing Machine movie if it's being made by the same studio. ZE didn't actually bulk up for the film, he's been building up muscle for a few years now. Could have roided some extra bulk for the role maybe but the groundwork was already laid. But I 100% agree that he should have just grown his hair out a little more and been casted as Kerry. He and JAW did fine for what they were asked to do, just pointed in the wrong direction imo. I thought Fritz was good casting, though still not bastard-y enough. As a whole it was just... Okay? Which is very disappointing when you're telling the story of one of the greatest tragedies in wrestling. I mean, you're always gonna only scratch the surface with a biopic but that still shouldn't have felt so utterly whelming.

Finally got to watch Marley, and fucking loved it. The actor that played him should get an Academy nomination, I always thought that would be near impossible role and he just hammered it. I’ve watched the movie 3 times now and love it more each go around. I could see someone unfamiliar with him, his story, his music not getting it but for me a big fan since 2002 I loved it a lot. Way better than I expected.

So I ended up watching A Quiet Place: Day One, I haven't seen the other ones, but I enjoyed this one well enough, that I want to get around to watching the others. I also watched Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, it was decent at best, but easily the weaker of the two movies IMO. 2024 Films SeenAbigail Air Force One Down Argylle Atlas A Quiet Place: Day One Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F Bloodline Killer Bob Marley: One Love Cash Out Challengers Code 8: Part II Cult Killer Damsel Dune: Part 2 Founders Day French Girl Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Heart of the Hunter IF Imaginary Immaculate Inside Out 2 Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 1 Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 2 Kung Fu Panda 4 Late Night with the Devil Lift Lisa Frankenstein Madame Web Mean Girls Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate Miller’s Girl Mother of the Bride Musica Night Swim Orion and the Dark Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver Ricky Stanicky Road House Role Play Sting Tarot The Beekeeper The Exorcism The First Omen The Garfield Movie The Painter The Underdoggs The Wages of Fear This Is Me… Now: A Love Story Under Paris Upgraded Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp

Maxxxine was exactly what it was billed as, a smutty slasher sequel. Imagine you like X you like this. Plays on 80's tropes, hollywood sleaze tropes and sequel tropes while continuing the story of X.
Not gonna revolutionize the genre or be the horror film of the year, but a solid slasher in an era where they are not common. And just a fun film.
Rumors are this is not the final film in the series.
///
Next horror film up will be Longlegs next week. That one is going to be a trip.

Longlegs was good. Has pacing issues like Perkin's other films, but was a great true crime film, in his style. Nic Cage was absolutely amazing in it.

Furiosa was even better than I thought it'd be. The war rig battle scene was epic. Chris Hemsworth is such a fun heel as Dementus. I'm gonna have to watch Fury Road again to justify the opinion but this might have actually eclipsed it. Great flick.

I liked it a lot more on rewatch than the first time. First time was not happy with the twist for the exact reason you mentioned.
I love Perkin's style so happy he got a wide release hit after the amazing Blackcoat's Daughter. But also part of me wishes this was a hardboiled true crime film entirely since we really are lacking them.
It was good horror style in a bit of a drought. Hoping Alien is a return to form for the franchise to get some really, really good horror again as it looks amazing.
You and Soda should hit up Maxxxine if you were into X and Pearl. Was a lot of fun.

Haven't seen any other than the original. What changed? It just provides backstory for how the monsters and subsequent dystopia all came about. It wasn't groundbreaking or anything but I enjoyed it for what it was.

Went to see Twisters. Meh. Big disappointment to me. Really loses what was cool about the original in the name of special effects. Wastes a good Glen Powell performance.
Some of the tornados were cool, but I was falling asleep in the theater during the climax.

Maxxxine is it's own beast that is more like X than Pearl, but does it's own thing. Hard to say if it is worth hitting the theater for or not. It is a great throwback to 90's style slashers though.
Twisters I tried to watch but got bored early on. Like the first one, just did not care for anything for the tornados.

Unfrosted: Over the top and cheesy as fuck, yet it gave me quite a few laughs. Honestly, given recent events in my life, I absolutely needed this. In a Violent Nature
I’m not exaggerating when I say that there a student films with better production value than this. One or two gory kills doesn’t justify paying to see this in cinemas (or even watch it on Shudder)
Trap
M night swings wildly again… and hits! A lot of fun, wish they didn’t reveal the info about the main character in the trailer even if it’s revealed very early on.
Saleka was surprisingly good in the film for a nepo baby, cool how the father/daughter bonding also matches with M Night and his daughter.

Swordfish (Dominic Sena, 2001)
Like Hackers, and probably many other films, Swordfish is a movie that attempts to make computers and computer geeks look cool, hip, trendy. The result is as cringey as you'd expect. It's an explosion-filled convoluted mess, all style, little substance.
Let's start with the geek. The protagonist, Stanley, one of the best hackers in the world, is played by Hugh Jackman. I don't know if Hugh Jackman was a big name in 2001, but I guess he must have been known to be cast in such a role. Stanley doesn't look like you'd expect a hacker to look like. He's attractive, charismatic, athletic, not socially awkward in the slightest. An action hero, in other words. The hacking scenes are hilariously cringe, especially from the lens of 2024.
Not only is Jackman an expert hacker, he's cool and fearless in the presence of both the FBI and a malevolent criminal gang lead by John Travolta. He's surprisingly good at fighting, and running. During the hilariously forced car chase scene, Travolta asks Jackman to take the wheel while he shoots people with his infinite supply of guns. Jackman says "I don't know how to drive this thing." Travolta responds "Learn". Jackman is instantly a master driver. Fantastic scripting. This movie is apparently set in the real world, but it would be more believable if it were set in The Matrix, which was no doubt an inspiration.
It's an all-style-no-subtance kinda film, so the plot is both shallow and convoluted to the point of making no sense. I won't bother to explain it. I don't even understand the final twist. Granted, the film was pretty entertaining, until the last 30 minutes or so, when there's about five twists too many. After the second of those twists I was bored and waiting for it all to end.
The script attempts some intellectual and moral discussion, which mostly fall flat, however one part was worthy of note. In the opening scene John Travolta shows his disdain at films because they always take the predictable route. This is a great scene and it plants a seed that plays into the events of Swordfish which made me question the outcome of the story. Would the good guys win? The bad guys? The answer is both, but I'd say the bad guys win more.

Also was a pretty cool concept that deals with shit not to used in horror. It is ironic in it lacks the classic Night twist.

Deadpool & Wolverine: I absolutely enjoyed the crap out of this, not surprising though, as I love the other Deadpool films. Seeing Wolverine in the blue and yellow outfit, was a long time coming, and it was worth the wait. Given the cameo appearances in the movie… Wesley mother fucking Snipes back as Blade, was bloody awesome to see as well. Also, Chris Evans back as Captai… er Human Torch, was cool as well. Descendants: The Rise of Red: Gave this a watch with my niece, it was uh not the worst thing I’ve ever seen. If I’m lucky though, I definitely won’t ever be watching this again. Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie: I’ve never been big on Spongebob, but much like with the Descendants movie, I only saw this as it happened to be on when visiting family. 2024 Films SeenAbigail A Family Affair Air Force One Down Argylle Atlas A Quiet Place: Day One Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F Bloodline Killer Bob Marley: One Love Cash Out Challengers Code 8: Part II Cult Killer Damsel Deadpool & Wolverine Descendants: The Rise of Red Dune: Part 2 Founders Day French Girl Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Heart of the Hunter IF Imaginary Immaculate Inside Out 2 Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 1 Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 2 Kung Fu Panda 4 Land of Bad Late Night with the Devil Lift Lisa Frankenstein Madame Web Mean Girls Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate Miller’s Girl Mother of the Bride Musica Night Swim Orion and the Dark Players Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver Ricky Stanicky Road House Role Play Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie Sting Tarot The Beekeeper The Exorcism The First Omen The Garfield Movie The Painter The Underdoggs The Wages of Fear This Is Me… Now: A Love Story Trigger Warning Under Paris Unfrosted Upgraded Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp
