Apart from the Almas/Gargano match, I've never thought any match in NXT had deserved the full 5 stars. And really in this day and age, we're speaking about matches and rating them in line with Dave Meltzer's version of a 5 star match. Now, if Jim Ross or Steve Austin or Jericho start rating each match on each show, you'd have a vastly different opinion to compare it to.

Agreed with big Pete. I think the main events have always been decent but most haven't been match of the year worthy in recent times, really until Almas/Gargano came along. To me that was the first NXT main event in years that was a real match of the year contender and without a doubt probably the best match in NXT period. Honestly I was never high on Bobby Roode aside from his theme song, once that ended Bobby was merely an average worker to me and he's since proven it with the move to Smackdown. He's awful once the fun of his theme wears off. Joe never really got a great deal of diversity in his opponents as champion. It seemed like it was just Nakamura and Balor basically. All those were good matches but none of them were a match of the year worthy. Owens wasn't really champion for that long. Same with Drew, although I thought Drew and Almas was the best match from the Owens-almas title matches.

Only reason I threw Drew and Owens in is because they worked two big high profile matches on NXT TakeOvers. Kev even got to work Sami twice and while Zayn was amazing in one of his matches, they didn't take it to the next level.
It's been an age, but before the Gargano matches I recall Sami Zayn vs. Adrian Neville being an awesome match.

Interesting enough outside of Joe's two quickie reigns there hasn't been an American to hold the NXT belt since Neville took it off of Bo. Clearly the real reason they made the NA title!

To me it almost feels like they made the NA title for no other reason than to give it to Adam Cole. It's like they new they couldn't short change Black by not giving him the belt but they couldn't keep not giving a belt to Cole when the rest of his pals are walking around with the gold. I mean that is 3 singles titles on one show for a roster that isn't that big.

A consistent show, but nothing stood out as exceptional to me. Everything in the ***1/4-**** range. While we're talking about great NXT main events, there may have been only one ***** NXT title match, but don't forget some of the American Alpha/Revival/DIY tag team matches, and the women's title matches in the Sasha/Bayley era. There's a few ***** matches in there I'm sure. Unpopular statement: I didn’t love that match like the rest of you. It picked up at the end for me and told the story well enough but I was bored for most of it. Exactly my thoughts. There was a lot of time where nothing was really happening. The crowd was hot, which usually compensates for lulls in action, but on this night I wasn't really feeling it. I feel like the match would have been better if it were shorter, but it's 2018, so every main event has to be in the region 30 minutes if not longer. I don't get Killain Dain. I don't see whatever they see in him. Average fat man, poorly presented and doesn't exactly set the world on fire in the ring. Yeah, he's awful. They have a much better version of him in Lars Sullivan, and he isn't exactly great, though the potential is there. AOP aren't going to improve anymore than they have. Intimidation, size and power is all that matters here. Call them up, and they can squash the main roster's tag team divisions. They're the next Ascension. They've been to the top of NXT, the only way is down. Also not sure how I feel about the Strong heel turn, like is it something he decided last minute? Or was Roderick planning on doing it all along, prior to the match starting? In which case, why go for pin covers, and potentially take the titles off of the group you are going to join. Awesome moment and execution, but you're right. Strong's heel turn is a real headscratcher. Pretty much any face/heel turn has tons of holes if you give it some thought, but you don't even have to give this one any thought. He was wrestling the whole match on Dunne's side, beating up Kyle O'Reilly, and trying to win the match. That conflicts with a long term plan. A snap decision also makes no sense because he was literally about to win tag team gold and a big shiny trophy.
