I've never been checked out by a doctor in that area, but I don't think I'd have too much of a problem with it. As RT says, they're used to it. They're used to the discomfort of the patients as well. If it's gotta be done, it's gotta be done. Might as well just get on with it. Stalling and fussing will only make the situation more awkward. I would never have it done with a medical student in the room though. Whenever I've seen the doctor, the presence of students has always been seen as optional. If I'm getting my dick out, anyone but the doctor gets the fuck out. One time I had a routine checkup (Q&A type deal) and there were two medical students. Fine by me. Problem is, the room was laid out so that the students were sat directly in front of me, and the doctor was to my right at his computer. It was super awkward, since the students said nothing the whole time and I couldn't help but meet their eyes all the fucking time, and we just exchanged increasingly forced smiles until we were practically grimacing at each other. Normally I'm fine with students in the room, so long as I can easily pretend they don't exist. They gotta learn the craft somehow.

I pretty much never go see a doctor. I don't have health insurance, but I really should change that in the event of an emergency. Don't think I've gone since getting checked out in basic training, which insanely was almost a decade ago.

I know a lot of people with aversions to going to see a doctor, which I find a bit bizarre, at least in countries with free healthcare.
Understandable if you have to shell out $10,000 for a 5 minute session revealing you've only got a cold, not coronavirus.

I didn't think opposite-sex genital checking was permitted. I would feel way more awkward if it were a female doctor. I'd probably ask for a male.

A female doc looked up my anus in basic. They had a male with her, I assume a nurse for comfort since it was opposite sex?

I still don't understand it and we've been together for over 10 years.
She'll tell me she has a sore throat or something and I'll tell her to go to the doctor and get a prescription. She'll just go "well I don't have a fever yet and I don't feel like driving there and blah blah," and I get so frustrated. It's fucking free, it takes an hour of your time if you have an appointment, WE PAY TAXES FOR THIS REASON...but no we just end up arguing. Then a week later I get a sore throat.
I love my wife but that is one of those things that will just always bug me about her. Kind of like how my laziness will always bug her.

I hate going to the Doctor. Mostly because it makes me nervous, but also because I don’t have health insurance and it’s expensive as hell.

Everything I knew about society and gender norms is upside down. It's always the husband who is a stubborn jackass. Canada is so backwards!

Your wife sounds exactly like Wife. And but also me. Here's hoping we'll be better with doctor aversion at least for Baby PI Jr.

I'm another one of PW's chronic doctor avoiders.
I've had health insurance for the past few years (and a good plan too!) but I've also been without it for long stretches of time as an adult. Maybe that's where I acquired this mentality of "don't go to the doctor unless you're dying?" OK, slight exaggeration. But I'll only go when something becomes so insufferable I can't take it anymore. I actually went twice in the past 8-9 months- once in September-October and then again in December-January. That's a lot for me! Don't think I've been to the doctor more than 3 times in a single year since I was a teenager. I've also went entire years-long stretches without seeing a doctor.
Thankfully I have been extremely lucky health-wise. Which is doubly weird since the rest of my immediately family (deceased brother included) seemed to be visiting a doctor every other week for one thing or another.

I can't understand why any American would be against socialist healthcare. In Canada, even if you're poor as fuck and don't have insurance, you can walk into the doctor and be seen like anyone else without being charged. Sure, you have to go to a walk-in or an ER and you might have to wait for a few hours, but that's as bad as it gets (unless you need an expensive prescription but whatever...shit costs money, sorry).
I can't even wrap my head around living in a place where going to the doctor's office could costs hundreds if not thousands of dollars.
I actually got in an argument with a friend of mine. We grew up together in Ontario and he moved to Nevada. He got mad at me for sharing an anti-American healthcare thing on twitter and I was kind of blown away. He has great insurance at his job, and he's lost touch with the fact that people that aren't so lucky don't have the same options we have here in Canada. I had to remind him of that. Then we got drunk together on Facebook video chat.

I'm all for it. The only argument I can buy is raising taxes to foot the bill. Okay, do it.

Last visit, they charged $250 for a piss test I didn’t even need. So yeah, the cost of going to the Doctor sucks. Luckily I fought it and didn’t have to pay,

We have very good insurance. I've pretty much always had good insurance, and my mom was a hypochondriac. I went to the doctor frequently as a kid. My wife grew up poor. She is blown away when I suggest she go to the doctor. But also, I have to be pretty sick to go to the doctor because my mom always made me go.

When I went into the OR for the hernia surgery, I noticed two beautiful women working in there. I made sure to say “oh it’s freezing in here.” Considering my hernia was in my groin area, I had to make sure that the show they were seeing when I was in anesthesia was not the real show.

Don't think I've been to the doctor more than 3 times in a single year since I was a teenager. I've also went entire year s-long stretches without seeing a doctor. Thankfully I have been extremely lucky health-wise. Which is doubly weird since the rest of my immediately family (deceased brother included) seemed to be visiting a doctor every other week for one thing or another. This reminds me of my last doctor's appointments. I had a PCP back in First Run Pittsburgh days, who I went to see for a physical. Everything checked out fine, and I could've sworn the Doc was like "all good, no need for a follow-up for five years". Flash forward a bit, we've moved around some and this is the tail end of First Run Pittsburgh days. I think I needed an appointment to check a box to qualify for life insurance or something. I think it had only been three years by this point, but I figured no real harm in an early follow-up, so I schedule one with my PCP. It was confusing when the PCP's office contested that it'd have to be a new patient consult because it had been so long since I was last seen. I'm like, whatever, American Healthcare is dumb... Just book the appointment, lady. Appointment comes. PCP doesn't recognize me. I jog his memory, and mention when we last saw each other he'd said no need to schedule another physical for another five years. He looked aghast, said that is absolutely not something he or any PCP would ever say under any circumstances to any patient regardless of how healthy they were. So you telling me that was all an auditory hallucination, Doc!? That had to have been maybe 2017. Haven't had a physical since then, since I'm still convinced one good one covers you for at least five years. When I went into the OR for the hernia surgery, I noticed two beautiful women working in there. I made sure to say “oh it’s freezing in here.” Considering my hernia was in my groin area, I had to make sure that the show they were seeing when I was in anesthesia was not the real show. Smart strategy! KING KID always thinking!

I’ve had extremely sensitive ears my whole life. 12 ear infections before I was two. Being born on the 4th of July is god damn irony. My sister in law made me a cake with my logo though and I got to spend the whole day with my wife, her family, the kiddos, and the fat guy Seth Rollins did a moonsault off of. Go buy a t shirt I designed or a mask and have a good gosh darn day as I try to survive in what sounds like Baghdad West.

Struggled with infections before my teens and still get really bad wax build-up to this day. If I had a debit card set up right now I'd buy that "Make Kicks Super Again" shirt. I've been keeping cash on hand like a caveman lately. Down to bookmark this and help you out in the future though.

My best friend and former podcast partner, Timothy Regal is the moonsault guy. We did a show called "Off the Chest of Timothy Regal" for about 3 years. We do commentary together for SCWPro here in Iowa. We started a podcast network called The Slam Fam Wrestling Network after breaking off from The Pro Wrestling Iowa Network due to creative differences (aka I'm not going to let a grown man who owes me money scream at me on the telephone).
