Anybody catch the return of Doctor Who, and what do you think of the new Doctor?
Personally, I thought the premiere was OK. But could still use some improving. Like I always say, you can't judge a show by just one episode.

Now Ian is ALSO leaving Shameless, and thus, it's time to end it. Really wish they'd just get he and Rossum to agree to do a final season.

Big Mouth season 2 is off to a good start. And remained good throughout and good through the finish. Surprised at how good the follow up was, thinking the shock and novelty factors would've worn off from the first season. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep it up in the third or if it finally dips then.

Walking Dead was okay , had some really cool moments and set pieces.
They did the one thing I will always criticize the show for though , set up a character , killed him and spent far too much of the show on his death and his family. All that would be fine and dandy but we never met any of these people before and now we are supposed to spend this much time with them?
I get that they needed to set up the Gregory thing and all that , and they could have easily done that and shaved ten minutes of the grieving parents stuff out. Oh well.

Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father
Comedian Jack Whitehall travels firstly through SE Asia, then through Europe with his 77 year old Father. For those who don't know English comedian/actor Whitehall, he's a some-what flamboyant, immature, girly-man. His father, a some-what conservative old snob, who has a very short tolerance for his son's behavior, or has little respect for his son's talents as a comedian.
Worth a watch, very funny. And for someone who just traveled 2 weeks with his 63 year old Father through Europe, I can relate.

Iron Fist becomes the first Marvel/Netflix show to be cancelled. I still haven't gotten around to season 2, I can see how the weaknesses of the first season didn't get viewers back, though I did enjoy it enough.

I know it probably has next to zero to do with the other, but OCD won't let me skip it over. I wonder if JJ could have the same fate because that second season was yikes.

Actually a bit disappointing, I think Iron Fist season 2 was an improvement in every way, unlike Jessica Jones, and actually ended up being one of the better rounded seasons of Marvel Netflix. Would have liked to see where the 3rd season went.

Clearly I am the last person left watching TWD and that's fine - I get it. I have too much of a history with the show to just walk away though. This episode was up and down ,way too much relationship mushy shit - I get they are trying to show that everything is good and everyone is finally settled and comfortable but they are spending way too much time on it. Jody from Shameless is a good douchebag , I kept wanting Daryl to kill him but it looks like someone else beat him to the punch. {Spoiler} I'm pretty sure it's Dwight in the woods killing Saviors. I can't really think of anyone else and the show hasn't mentioned his absence for a reason. Good on him , kill all those fuckers.
Next week looks like it could be interesting.

Next week looks like it could be interesting. The curse of 16 episode seasons instead of say a tight 10. Of course if Rick and Maggie are really gone by mid-season then it really is way too much time.
I'll be here until the bitter end, but I think my enthusiasm is not as high as it once was. Normally I'd stay up late Sunday night or first thing Monday morning. This week I didn't get around to it until today. Of course simply knowing both big stars are leaving puts a damper on things. We'll see. I love JDM as Negan, but am quite sad we won't get some more bonding with Carl and little future bromance scenes between him and Rick. But it does create for fresh non-comic material, good or bad.

Speaking of Marvel Netflix, I need some help: should we watch the new Iron Fist and Luke Cage seasons before starting Daredevil S3? Do they tie in or stand alone?
No spoilers please. I’m asking because I hated the first seasons of both shows and don’t want to watch them if I don’t have to. But my wife kind of wants to and is worried we’ll miss out on stuff. I might just skip those seasons and she can watch them on her own if she wants to.
I got some time because we just started season 3 of Fargo and have a couple other shows on the go (might watch that Hill House show too before Halloween) but was just wondering. Not like we’re starting Daredevil first thing Friday.

Haven't seen Fist still but Cage seemed very contained. Even a certain *appears in every show* character wasn't on there very long, so it felt very much like it's own thing. The only thing I'll say is if your wife was a big fan of Mariah Dillard, check it out because she's the central villain and gets a lot of build. Now of course if you hated season 1 (I liked it until she took central stage over Cottonmouth like a lot of folks) I wouldn't bother.
If nothing else and stuff does take place... I'd annoy her into filling you in.

I’m three or four episodes in on The Deuce. It’s even better this year, I feel like the writing is tighter and the characters are just more enjoyable (or detestable?) than they were last year. Leon’s return was quite amusing.

Can't really say if anything from the ties into DD, but nothing evident from the series themselves that seem like they'd be pertinent, though there there could be one major Iron Fist development spoiled if the characters cross over.

Well, hell. Now Luke Cage has also been cancelled.
I really hope Marvel Netflix isn't going away right when we get the best iteration of the Punisher to date.

Which is kind of disappointing, the two shows with the better second seasons got cancelled.
But we'll have to see what happens after DD S3, JJS3, and Punisher S2.
I really hope Punisher isn't just a 2 season and gone thing.

Yeah, both Luke Cage and Iron Fist getting canned sucks, I'm hoping it's cause they plan on merging the two shows, into Heroes for Hire but I dunno.

Damn, wonder if the MCUTV brand is going away. Would be a shame because other than a few name drops they're kinda their own thing.

Punisher and DD have much larger fan bases than Luke Cage and Iron Fist, I doubt they will be going away anytime soon.

Just hoping the cancellations are ratings and not Netflix Marvel going away, Daredevil season 3 was fantastic, maybe the best of the entire line. D'Onofrio shines as Fisk, Bullseye has some great moments, filler feels less flully, fantastic end. Just a good ass season.

Another fantastic season for Castlevania, a fanboy's dream come true. With the extended episode count it's a bit slower this time around, focused on world building; but when the action hits, it's a hell of a thing. The final showdown is truly epic.
There's a single large scale battle that's a bit disappointing, but the high standard of the rest more than makes up for it.
I pray the series gets a full run with this quality, as I absolutely can't wait for a 3rd. Hope we eventually get a time jump to deal with further Belmonts.

We finished The Haunting of Hill House last night and I’ve never been more offended or angry about a finale. Holy fuck that was the worst piece of shit sorry excuse for an episode of television I’ve ever seen. It was worse than anything Dexter did, and I’m not exaggerating.
If you’re watching this show just stop after episode 9. No, you don’t need to know how it ends. It’s better you don’t. Trust me. I had to be up at 5am today and we stayed up late to finish the episode and I woke up still angry. Fuck that show. Seriously.
9 episodes of decent ghost story with some PTSD/family drama thrown in, a show just good enough to keep me watching and just scary enough for Halloween, then 1 episode of the worst trash I’ve ever seen. Fuuuuuck

Finished second season of Making a Murder. My mind continues to be blown. I just wish real-life timelines would conform to TV season schedules though. The ending was a little anti-climactic and a bit of a cliffhanger since it essentially catches us up to present.

While still not as much as Sons, I'm enjoying Mayans a bit more each week, though, unfortunately, I still find EZ to be the weakest part of the cast. Always gonna be tough to compare to Hunnam's Jax Teller, and while he's improved since his Revolution days, Pardo just gets a bit stiff in his more serious moments. But, all in all, still one of the better spin-off attempts, no Better Call Saul, but also no Joey.

So The Walking Dead huh ... I thought that turned out way better than it had any right to. I figured they would do something along those lines with Rick.
I'm also SUPER excited for the time jump going forward and where the show looks to be heading. I was 75% out on the show but it looks like they hit the reset button and are changing shit up. I mean fucking smart zombies. Let's go.

The ending was a little anti-climactic and a bit of a cliffhanger since it essentially catches us up to present. From a TV perspective I think they definitely rushed putting out more content for the sake of it. And while seeing how Zellner was attempting to discredit the evidence was interesting - there was SO much of her that it felt like a show about her (which I think is exactly how she would like it!) rather than a "documentary".
