The fans have been clamoring for this bout ever since Vader won the UWA's second-most prestigeous championship last year. Samoa Joe was next in line and the match looked like an inevitability, but Joe was sidelined with a broken clavicle and the dream match had to be post-poned.
Vader promised that when Joe was back to 100%, he would grant him his title shot, then tear him limb from limb. And Vader has made good on the first half of that promise. Now we see if the rest comes true. It'll take all Vader has to stop the powerful Samoan and continue on as US champ.

The build for this match has been the stuff of legend. Since arriving on the scene in UWA, seemingly out of nowhere, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has run his mouth non-stop, but backed it up and then some. Every time someone thought they were finally going to shut this kid up, they came up short and only boosted his already explosive ego.
That all changed when MJF caught the eye of Roddy Piper. MJF was invited as a guest on Piper's Pit and when Piper tried to talk some sense into the kid, MJF blew up. From there it has been months of back and forth between the two, with Piper eagerly wanting to smack some sense into MJF, but MJF ducking him at every opportunity. Piper finally snapped and is so desperate to teach MJF a lesson, he's putting his title shot on the line. Dr. Britt Baker has had a rocket strapped to her back since arriving in UWA and was voted "Most Improved" by her peers last year. In a short span she has become one of the best female wrestlers on the planet, but it has gone to her head. Stating that she "runs the locker room," and is the reason women's wrestling is growing in popularity, Baker has irked the Women's Champion Trish Stratus.
Stratus, who has been putting in the work for years and is the longest-reigning women's champ in company history, was obviously offended by Baker's remarks. The feud has turned ugly between these two women and now they face each other for the first time with the biggest prize in women's professional wrestling on the line.

"The Deathrider" Jon Moxley vs. "Road Warrior" Hawk
Jon Moxley has been on a mean streak lately, wrestling with a chip on his shoulder and becoming more and more violent as time goes on. Despite winning the majority of his matches, Moxley seems to have an anger inside of him that he can no longer ignore, and has begun using it to decimate his opponents.
After a tag team match several weeks ago, Moxley attacked Hawk's partner, sidelining him indefinitely. This obviously did not sit well with Hawk, who has informed the world that Jon Moxley is going to get a taste of his own medicine at Superstar Showdown.
Moxley was happy to accept and went so far as promising to end Hawk's career. Something has to give in this match and if things get out of hand the authorities may have to step in to prevent Jon Moxley from doing the unthinkable.

Finn Balor has been on a tear lately, not only winning the Intercontinental Championship for a record 4th time, but defending it week in and week out as a fighting champion. Balor and Ospreay have been at each other's throats for years, even before they joined the UWA and wrestled their way around Europe. The pair have exchanged title wins in recent months, but newer superstars in Adam Cole and Kenny Omega have been nipping at their heels and have won over the fans in nearly record time.

A dark setting is interrupted by Bray Wyatt walking into the light. He is holding a glass sphere. Initially the orb is clear but it turns cloudy in a mixture of blue, white, green, and brown.

The swirling mixture of colors take form and what was initially a clear crystal ball or sorts takes shape into a small replica of the earth resting in the hands of Bray. He smiles like a proud papa would holding his child for the first time.
“A world where everything is its best and nothing ever dies.”

♫ With ice cold hands takin’ hold of me ♫
Superimposed over the earth there is a classical shot of Hulk Hogan grabbing his iconic yellow shirt and ripping it apart, followed in succession by another rapid shot of John Cena doing his patent You Can’t See Me taunt.

A following shot displays Randy Savage wearing his cowboy hat and famous fringe adorned jacket. It finishes with Owen Hart applying a sharpshooter on a superstar before completely fading to black.

As the running images of former WWE Superstars fades, the perfect replica of the earth smokes within the glass orb it was contained before turning pitch black. The glass ball melts into a texture that closely resembles motor oil.

The image of Bray Wyatt with a black liquid running through his fingers cuts to footage from a recent Monday Night Raw where we see Mick Foley coming out to the ring to a huge ovation from the fans in attendance.

In this shot, Mick Foley announces that he is in the prime shape of his life and after careful consideration he has decided to return to the WWE. The fans share a moment of glee with the hardcore legend.

Rapid fire videos shows the first two months of Mick’s in ring performance where he quickly defeats a run of some of the best wrestlers in the WWE before an announcers asks him the burning question: what’s next?

Foley says that maybe he was meant to be the one to end the dominance of the three year reigning champion, Roman Reigns. Mick says it feels like more than a shot at the title, it feels like what he was destined.. no.. created to do.

A quick recap of Roman Reigns versus Mick Foley and Foley is shocking the world. He nails his double-arm DDT off the apron to the ringside. A running elbow off the apron and he rolls Roman in to finish off the Tribal Chief.

The lights flicker on Mick as he is calling for the Mandible Claw. The scene is sketchy and flickers between one of Mick and Roman in a ring within a jammed packed arena to an empty warehouse with Mick staring face to face with the Fiend.
“In a world of imperfection, you were my only failure.”

The scene flickers rapidly between the two presentations until it settles on the ring in an empty warehouse and the Fiend connects with Sister Abigail on Mick before it flickers back to the full arena and Foley is inexplicably lying on the mat now.
“There is no place for something like you in my utopia.”

Roman runs across the ring and leaps into the air and connects with Mick’s jaw just as he was getting to his feet and ends the match with the Superman punch. Foley looks just as confused as everyone else. How did he lose?
“I wanted a world of imperfections; where everyone is their best.”

♫ I’m death I come to take the soul ♫
Foley sits up and is having a hard time processing what just happened as Roman leaves with the title. Suddenly the lights go red and the ring is ripped open near Mick. The Fiend appears and drags Foley into the underbelly he has created. As the show fades.
“But when it comes to you, I’ll just have to settle for less.”

Bray’s intent to rid the WWE of his Mick Foley is only met with unintended consequences. As Bray brags about ending Foley, he is attacked by his alter ego: Mankind. Bray runs for his life from the masked dementor who is out for blood.

The next week, Foley returns but as the ladies’ man: Dude Love. He says that Bray has severed Mick’s self-control over these entities and now the inmates are running the asylum. Bray will try to restore order, but ‘we’ won’t let him.

♫ Dirt and worm both have a claim ♫
A few weeks later, Bray stalks Mick as he enters the building for a vicious attack but through the beatings Foley just smiles. He pulls off his WrestleMania XX t-shirt and we see a Cactus Jack shirt. Cactus only enjoyed the beating Bray had given him and repels the attack with one of his own.
“BANG BANG!”

The many faces of Foley appear to have taken hold of him and the WWE universe and Bray Wyatt never know which one he will be. The three faces of Foley have Wyatt confused, unsure, and doubting himself.
“You’re right about one thing, Bray. I am hideous.”

The finale of the footage shows Mick going through the transformation of his many faces and telling Bray that he messed up when he gave life to such an ugly creature. A creature that he can no longer contain.
“But I am no more hideous than this world you’ve created.”

Mick Foley: “Bray, you’ve unleashed a part of me that I have buried deep down inside for many years. Parts of me that I couldn’t control any longer. And while I may be ashamed of the ladies’ man that I may become; are you not more ashamed of brother Husky Harris? O HAVE MERCY! Bray, at Survivor Series, the darkest night of my soul is coming for you. You should have left well enough alone. HAVE A NICE DAY!”

BATTLE FOR THE BULLET
The bell rings and this match is underway. AJ Styles wastes no time to try and put this one away and darts across the ring to cut the distance between he and Rhodes, simultaneously jumping into the air and swinging for the fences with a leaping forearm. Cody narrowly ducks under the strike, turns and grabs the free arm of Styles with one hand and pulls his head back with the other applying a standing reverse facelock and now it’s Rhodes who is going for a homerun and he rolls through the hold into his Cross Rhodes finisher. AJ has nowhere to go so his only hope is a counter. As his body flips through a twist in the Cross Rhodes he overcompensates by aiding Cody in jerking his body through the move only to land back on his feet and now AJ has countered the reverse facelock. Styles stomps on the back of Cody’s right knee taking him down to a resting position on the same knee into a Dragon Sleeper. Without hesitation, AJ releases his hold of Cody’s head and slips his arm that had locked Rhodes’ right arm down the length of Cody’s arm to grasp his wrist. AJ, positioned to the right and just behind Cody, holding on to his right wrist, yanks Cody towards him and plants his foot against the back right side of Cody’s head and leaps forward driving him face first to the mat. AJ, still holding on to Cody’s right wrist shifts his weight onto a knee and pulls Cody’s arm towards his back and locks on am arm bar. Cody immediately writhes in pain. His recently surgically repaired shoulder is now locked into the submission and he firmly planted in the center of the ring with no hope of a rope break. The arm that Seth Rollins damaged may have been fully healed but AJ knows it’s still a tender place for an attack and he applies as much pressure from a kneeling position as he can to stretch the arm in the most unnatural direction as possible.
Rhodes is in a precarious spot and needs to find a way to break the hold before AJ dislocates his arm out of the shoulder socket. He has one recourse and shifts all of his weight towards AJ rolling Styles onto his back. AJ doesn’t break the hold but this puts him in position for a pin attempt and the official sees it. 1…………..2…………… AJ breaks the pin but reversing Cody’s reversal by continuing the roll through that Rhodes started. Now, AJ’s lefts are positioned on either side of Cody’s arm and Styles is able to get the most leverage on the arm by yanking it upwards toward the sky. Cody, now lying flat and facedown on the mat with his arm stretched up and backward is locked into an armbar that he can’t counter. Cody’s only hope is to scrap his way towards the rope to get a rope break that would force Styles to release. He crawls by putting all of his weight onto his left shoulder and drags his and AJ’s bodyweight towards the ropes that initially were approximately five feet away but within seconds he closes that gap to just barely out of reach. AJ wrenches tighter on the armbar but he is ultimately forced to break the hold once Cody gives one last surge of pull to get to the ropes and the official saves the match for Cody with the rope break.
AJ knows he can’t give in. He rolls to his feet and stomps on the back of Cody’s right shoulder and yanks him to his feet by the same arm. With the bottom right corner just three to four feet away, AJ whips Cody shoulder first into the top turnbuckle. Cody didn’t even have enough room to turn his back into the turnbuckle and all of the force is absorbed by his shoulder. AJ stays on the offense and applies a rear harmmerlock on the right arm of Rhodes and walks him backwards out of corner. Cody can only think of one opening to free his arm and instead of going with AJ he charges back towards the corner and ducks at the last second and pulls AJ chin first into the same pad that his shoulder had struck just moments before. AJ is forced to release the hold and stumbles back holding his jaw. He turns away from Cody, rocked by the impact. Rhodes has to get out of the corner himself now and turns to face his opponent only for AJ to leap and connect with a Pele kick that connects tightly across the top of Cody’s shoulder. The impact takes Cody to a knee wincing in pain and holding that shoulder. AJ rolls to his feet and grabs Cody by the wrist and leaps into the air. AJ yanks at Cody’s arm pulling it away from its socket before planting his foot into the same socket and Styles falls onto his back pulling away from Cody. As AJ hits the ground the impact sends Cody falling towards him but AJ’s foot keeps him from going the distance and Cody is rocked by his shoulder colliding with AJ’s foot and he springs off of it towards the center of the ring holding that shoulder in pain.
AJ rushes to his feet and darts to his downed opponent. Cody, lying face down, doesn’t even see AJ’s next attack as Styles slides to a seated position just to the right of Cody and locks in a crossface. Cody is in dire straights now. AJ grapevines the arm of Cody and pulls his neck away from the shoulder to cause as much strain on the joint as possible. Rhodes looks like he has no alternative but to submit to the hold but clings to every ounce of fortitude he has to not give in to the move. Again, Cody’s only hope is to use AJ’s leverage against him and he rolls through the hold and once again has Styles in a pin attempt. The official was in position to make the count. 1……………… 2……………….. AJ can’t kick out of the pin so his only hope is to release the hold to get the leverage to roll out of it. Cody nearly picks up the win but it’s AJ who is already back on the attack. Before Rhodes can make it back to his feet, AJ jumps up and drives a knee strike right into Cody’s shoulder. He takes a step back and follows it up with a kick. He turns slightly so that he is now just behind Cody and delivers a second kick to the back of his shoulder. AJ pulls Cody to his feet by tugging on the hurt arm and applies another hammerlock. Cody reaches blindly behind him trying to grab AJ’s head but Styles uses this missed effort to pull Cody’s head backwards and drops him back-first to the mat with his arm pinned under his own weight with the hammerlock still applied. Styles jumps to his feet and stomps away at Cody’s shoulder as he is trying desperately to get it unpinned from under him.
So far, AJ has been in full control of this match and nearly all of his attacks have targeted the previously injured arm of Cody. AJ stays on the offense and pulls Cody to his feet. He whips him towards the left ropes but Rhodes reverses the irish whip and now it’s AJ going towards the ropes but this may have been the worst case scenario for Cody who couldn’t free his hand and now AJ leaps over the same ropes hanging on to Cody’s hand and uses gravity and his body weight to yank Rhodes into the ropes and drops his arm over the top rope and hangs it there. Cody flings off the ropes into the middle of the ring holding on to his arm in pain. AJ hops up onto the apron and tries to put this match away by leaping onto the top rope and using it as a springboard to fly towards Cody. Rhodes, favoring his right arm, turns it away from Styles to protect it from the attack, and takes the Phenomenal Forearm to the unprotected face. Cody goes down with a thud and Styles is quick to make a cover over his foe. 1……………… 2………………. ! Cody just barely kicks out. Rhodes managed to protect his shoulder from the flying forearm but is now groggy having taken it directly to the head. AJ knows just how dangerous Cody can get when he is backed into a corner like this and stays on the offense.
Styles pulls Cody to his feet and attempts another irish whip to the upper ropes but hangs on to Cody’s arm. When he reaches full extension, AJ yanks him back towards him and leaps up with a knee that connects right into the shoulder joint. AJ applies a standing armbar and falls into a downward spiral-like attack to drive Cody shoulder first to the mat. AJ then stands over his downed opponent, now lying facedown on the mat. Styles grabs both of Cody’s arms and hyperextends them behind his back, compressing them towards one another. The submission is effective in applying pressure to the damaged shoulder but AJ just can’t get enough leverage to force a submission. The official presses Cody for the submission but Rhodes never relents. Realizing that he needs a new tactic, AJ releases the hold and stomps on the back of Rhodes’ shoulder for emphasis. With Cody still lying face down, AJ applies a rear crossface chickenwing onto the hurt shoulder with a knee planted firmly in Rhodes’ lower back. Cody screams in agony as the official checks on him. Eventually AJ realizes that he still has a new degree of pressure he can apply and sits on the lower back of Rhodes and pulls him upward bending at the abdomen. He now has the crossface chickenwing applied from a seated position like a camel clutch and yanks on the neck and shoulder of Rhodes. Eventually Cody isn’t able to respond to the official’s checks so he lifts Cody’s free arm to see if he still has consciousness. He raises it and releases it and it falls immediately. He does this again and for the second time it falls. A third time and it drops but Cody stops it from slapping the mat and rallies back.
The fans get behind Cody’s comeback and chant for him. Cody does the unthinkable and with his free hand, he plants all of his weight against the mat on that arm and lifts himself up to his knees with AJ sitting on his back. Cody keeps struggling and moves himself to one bent knee and resting on the other. AJ won’t release the hold and has his legs wrapped around Cody’s waist. Finally, Cody leans slightly forward and is able to get to both feet. With AJ backpacking on him, Cody stands upright. The fans go crazy as Cody stumbles backward as though he was running in reverse and slams AJ back first into the bottom right turnbuckle. Styles has no hope of hanging on to the chickenwing and releases the hold as he gasps for air. Cody knows he needs something big if he is going to get out of this. He backs into AJ and uses his left arm to reach behind him and locks on a three-quarter facelock and runs out of the corner with a cutter that drives AJ head first to the mat. If Cody needed something big to take control of the match, this was the move that would do it for him.
Despite taking control of the match, Cody still favored his right shoulder throughout the fight. Moves that he would typically connect with using his right arm, were made awkward by the American Nightmare when he would have to switch up to his left arm. The fans are split in this match and are now chanting for AJ to get a second wind but it’s not enough. The cutter wasn’t enough to keep AJ down and he gets to his feet just after Cody does only to take a kick to the gut that doubles Styles over. Cody applies a front facelock and drives AJ to the mat with a DDT. Rhodes doesn’t release the front facelock and pulls himself up to a knee and drags AJ to his feet as well and takes him down to the mat for a second time with another DDT! The fans go crazy but Cody isn’t done. Still applying the facelock, he sits up onto a knee and now has to drag the deadweight of Styles up to his feet again. Cody raises his right hand to the air and calls for another DDT in the same manner that Jake Roberts used to and with one fast fall and one sudden landing, Rhodes knocks AJ Styles out with a third consecutive DDT. Rhodes rolls AJ over and makes a cover as the official slides into position. 1……………. 2…………………. NO! AJ kicks out by barely slipping his shoulder up off the mat. The fans can’t believe it. Cody has taken a beating on his right shoulder but three DDTs would typically be too much for anyone. Rhodes almost can’t believe it himself.
Cody doesn’t let the nearfall distract him. He gets back up to his feet and falls back against the right ropes and rebounds off and leaps up off the mat and drives a knee directly to the forehead of Styles. He sharply rolls back to his feet and lets his feet fall out from underneath him as he drops all of his weight down onto his left elbow that drives into Styles’ head. He does this in rapid procession three consecutive times and the three elbow drops have left AJ stunned. Cody grabs AJ by the head and pulls him up to a knee and lifts his head up and applies a guillotine on the Phenomenal One. Cody uses all of his weight to lock into the sleeper and AJ just can’t seem to find an escape. Finally, AJ goes limp and the official is forced to make a count on Styles as well. The arm goes up and comes back down two times but just like Cody he manes to stop it from falling a third and saves himself from a loss. AJ has scouted the guillotine well and musters the last of his oxygen and energy to wrap his arms around Cody and hoist him dead-weight up off the mat. Cody wraps his legs around AJ’s midsection to get more leverage on the hold. AJ pushes through the hold and manages to get to his feet. Cody releases his legs from around AJ and comes to a standing position with Styles’ head still locked in the guillotine. AJ uses his arm strength to shove Cody off of him and Rhodes hits the left ropes, rebounds, and AJ swings for the fences with a discuss DDT but Cody ducks underneath and jumps onto the second rope and springboards off with a Disaster Kick. Both men go to the mat hard and it looks like Cody landed on his right shoulder as he rolls around holding it in pain. AJ appears to be knocked unconscious. The official checks on both men before he stars a ten count on the pair. Cody is the one who breaks it after a two count when he rolls over and lies backfirst on AJ and uses his left arm to pull Style’s leg up into a pin. 1……………….. 2…………………. AJ gets a shoulder up!
The fans are coming alive and cheering for both men with dueling chants. Rhodes struggles with what he will have to do to put AJ away. Cody gets to his feet first, but is still favoring his shoulder. He stays on the offensive by dragging AJ to his feet as well and applying a standing front facelock. Cody tries to hoist Styles into the air but halfway up through the lift he drops him back to the as his right arm gives out on the lift. Cody agonizes over the pain in his shoulder. Styles may have gotten a reprieve but he didn’t capitalize on it and Cody knees him in the gut and applies another front facelock but this time uses his left arm to flip Styles up into the air and immediately drops him head first to the mat with a sickening brainbuster. The failed attempt with his right arm is too much for Cody and he comes up out of the brainbuster holding his right arm in pain and misses an opportunity to make the pin on Styles. Cody may have seriously damaged the muscle in the shoulder with the attempt. He tries to get back on the offense though and grabs AJ by the hair and pulls him to a standing position. Cody strikes him with a left overhead elbow strike that resembles the ones Dusty one time performed. A second strike. A third. A fourth. Cody throws some of the Dusty theatrics into the mix and finishes the sequence with a fifth and final bionic elbow, this time driving down his dominant right elbow to the head of Styles that takes him to the mat. Cody realizes how bad a decision that was but hopes that it was enough to put away his opponent and cinches him in for a tight cover. 1………….. 2………….. and not even close. AJ gets his shoulder up off the mat to stop the attempt.
Cody is going to try a high risk move to put this one away. Before AJ can recover from the elbows, Cody goes to the bottom right corner and climbs the turnbuckle. Rhodes has his back to the center of the ring and as Styles gets to his feet Cody leaps off the top rope with a moonsault. Styles sees the attack coming and sidesteps the move. Cody manages to save himself a crash and burn scenario by landing on his feet. Cody is left wide open but still manages to go for an offensive strike first as he leaps off the mat with a dropick. The assault fails and AJ locks hold of Cody’s feet and Rhodes is forced to free fall onto his back with his legs locked in Styles’ grasp. AJ tucks the legs under his arms and rolls Cody over for an elevated Boston Crab. Styles applies the pressure onto the neck of Cody and keeps his body lifted more vertically to put pressure on his spine and neck. Rhodes is clearly caught off guard by this and has no remedy for an escape. The fans give support to Cody but it just doesn’t seem to be enough. He claws and scrapes his way towards the ropes but as soon as it is within grasp, AJ walks him back towards the center of the ring. Cody makes one more valiant effort to get to the ropes to get a rope break but again as soon as he is close AJ pulls him away. This time AJ plants his foot onto the back of Cody’s head and lifts his lefts high up into more of a Walls of Jericho like Crab and plants his knee right into the lower back of Cody and cranks backward. The official is in position to hear a submission but Cody just doesn’t relent.
Cody finally is able to break the hold by using his leg strength to fling AJ out of the hold and to the ropes. Cody realizes that if he stays on the mat he is a sitting duck for another attack and quickly rolls to his feet. Rhodes sees a charging AJ and reaches deep into steal from AJ’s own reportoir of moves and goes for a Frankensteiner. Styles can’t be fooled by his own move and catches Rhodes in air and drives him neck and shoulders first to the mat with a sickening powerbomb. Styles hangs on to the hold, though, and lifts him up and at about the three-quarter rise drops him back down to the mat with a second powerbomb. Styles still doesn’t release and now he picks him up for a second time but instead of delivering a third powerbomb, he lets Cody’s body dangle freely upside down and locks his legs arounds Cody’s arms and drives him downward to the mat with a Styles Clash! NO! Cody rolls through and under AJ’s lefts with a headscissors and Styles is flung into the far right ropes dropping neck first and drapes across the second rope. Cody may have reversed the Styles Clash but he is still reeling from the two powerbombs he just took. He holds on to his shoulder and neck in pain.
AJ struggles to get to a knee pulling at the ropes for help. He finally is able to get to a standing position, draped against the ropes. He stumbles backwards away from the ropes unsure about how the Clash was countered. Cody is already on the attack and darts towards him, leaping past him and landing on the second rope and springboarding backwards and wrapping his arms around AJ’s neck and planting him to the mat with a Cody Cutter. The announcer’s mention the beating that Styles’ head has taken in this match with multiple DDTs and cutters. Cody quickly rolls AJ over and goes for a cover. 1…………… 2………………. AJ once again manages to escape the pin attempt. Cody has taken control of the fight and whips AJ to the bottom right corner and immediately charges after him. AJ spins and takes the force of the corner in the upper back but is immediately rocked by Cody who leaps onto the second rope and delivers a stiff knee strike to the head. Cody falls backward to the mat on his feet and puts his head under AJ’s arm and hoists him to a seated position on the turnbuckle. Cody follows him up the turnbuckle and stands over him on the second rope. Rhodes grabs him by the head and starts viciously pounding him with sickening headbutts. Just as the fans would count a corner mounted punch, they start counting the headbutts. 1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8… 9… 10! The fans are delighted with Rhodes’ work as he dizzily stumbles off the ropes back to the mat. We see that AJ has been busted open and his forehead starts bleeding.
Rhodes sees the perfect opening and charges back at the corner and runs up the ropes hopping off the second rope onto the top and wraps his legs around AJ’s head for a hurricanrana from the turnbuckle but NO! AJ hangs on and Cody only falls backwards to a hanging position. Gingerly, AJ steps one foot at a time behind the arms of Cody and leaps off the second rope with the Styles Clash and the fans go nuts! Both AJ and Cody lie face down on the mat for what seems like an eternity before Styles is finally able to roll through the hold into a seated pin attempt on Cody. The official was already in position and makes the count. 1……………… 2……………… 3! NO! The official’s hand actually slaps the mat and he goes to call for the bell but we see Cody’s fingers wrapped around the bottom rope and the official has to break the bad news to Styles. Rhodes has an official rope break. Cody has to roll to the outside and he falls to the floor holding his shoulder and neck in pain. It takes some time for AJ to recover, himself. But when he does he immediately questions the official’s count and thinks he clearly had the three. The referee explains the rope break and AJ can’t believe it. AJ knows he has to stay on the offense here and rolls out of the ring to join his opponent on the outside.
The two are located in the bottom ride of the ring side area near the timekeepers corner. AJ grabs Cody by the neck and whips him shoulder first into the crowd barrier with a thud. The sound is sickening and Cody screams in horror from the pain. AJ looks over his shoulder to the announcer’s table and pulls Cody by the head to his feet and drags him in that direction. As they approach, AJ flings him onto the table and starts clearing it of any debris that may still remain. AJ joins his opponent on the announcer’s table and lifts him to a standing position, bent over, with Cody’s head between AJ’s legs. AJ calls for another Styles Clash on the announcer’s table but when he reaches down to grab Cody, Rhodes pulls away and rolls under the arm of AJ. Styles spins around only to take a kick to the midsection and now it’s his head between the legs of Cody who locks his arms behind his back and hoists him high into the air and drives him through the announcer’s table with a Tiger Driver! The crowd roars with excitement. The official realizes that he can’t control this action outside the ring and gets back inside and begins a ten count on both men. Within a few seconds Cody has recovered. He tucks his right arm against his body and holds it tight with his left and rolls into the ring leaving AJ in the carnage outside. As the official nears the eight count, we finally have a stirring from Styles. AJ stumbles to his feet and just narrowly misses getting counted out by sliding into the ring at the last possible split second.

The elbow is from Rhodes’ nondominant left arm and he doesn’t get all of it which may be fortunate for Rhodes who only stuns AJ. As Styles spins away from Cody, stunned, Rhodes grabs him by the head and yanks it back into a reverse standing facelock and spins him hard to the mat with the Crossrhodes! Cody had to use his right arm for the attack and it clearly did a number on him as he snaps away from AJ holding the arm. He has no time to be hurt and leaps onto Styles for a pin attempt. He pulls AJ’s leg up tight for the cover. 1……………… 2……………… and now it’s AJ who is able to grab the bottom rope to stop the cover. Cody can’t believe it. He was sure he had finished the job. AJ and Cody are both wore out and physically spent. AJ is holding his head in pain from the numerous drops he has suffered tonight. The announcer’s speculate that he has possibly been concussed at some point if not before then definitely at the hands of the Crossrhodes. Meanwhile, Cody is grasping his shoulder in pain. This leads the announcers to speculate that he may have rushed his return to the ring before it was fully healed and a deadly AJ knew this and targeted the arm and shoulder early to stay in control of the match.
Cody isn’t going to be undone by the kick out. He grabs AJ by the head and pulls him to his feet. AJ can’t even block his attacker as Cody rears his head backwards and locks him in the reverse standing facelock again and spins him quickly downward toward the mat with another Crossrhodes! But Cody snaps to the floor with a thud and we see AJ still standing hanging tightly onto the top rope. Cody bounces up off the mat, still holding that shoulder. Styles grabs him by hair from behind and yanks his head back and AJ puts Cody away with his own finisher. Rhodes is slammed to the mat with the Crossrhodes. AJ may have made a bad decision to not go for a pin attempt here and instead he rolls under the bottom rope and climbs the turnbuckle. AJ props himself up onto the top rope and sizes up Cody who hasn’t moved after taking his own move. AJ leaps off the top with his Spiral Tap assault but at the last second Cody rolls out of the way and Styles crashes and burns on the mat. AJ bounces off the mat holding his lower back in pain. He rolls over to a knee only to be slammed to the mat headfirst as Cody drives him downward with a curb stomp. The announcers make the association that Cody “borrowed” the move from Seth who has put him out of commission for months using the same move on Cody in the spring of last year. Cody rolls AJ over for a pin but just can’t seem to lock onto a leg. 1………………. 2………………… and once again AJ kicks out.
The fans are going nuts as Cody and AJ both lie on their back sucking in air. Each have their own wounds that are keeping them down in this contest and neither are prepared to really get back on the offense. The chants are pouring in and it’s Cody who comes to first. He comes up to a knee and pulls AJ up to a similar position. Cody strikes him with a punch. AJ retaliates. This initiates a back and forth striking sequence between the two that initially starts slow but eventually each competitor grabs the other by the back of the head and starts pounding away with fights and forearms and elbows and it doesn’t take long before both men fall back to the mat holding their head. AJ has taken much of his damage tonight to the head so Cody is the first to recover from the strikes. He pulls AJ by the hair to a standing position. Rhodes whips Cody to the right ropes and AJ jumps and limbos through the top and middle ropes to a standing position on the apron. He spins around on the apron and connects with an elbow strike to Rhodes who tries to attack him over the rope. Cody recoils back into the ring and AJ is going to put him away. He leaps up onto the top rope and springboards off with another Phenomenal Forearm but Cody sees it coming from a mile away and jumps and connects with a dropkick to the gut of Styles that stops AJ mid-flight. AJ falls to the mat and lands on his knees gasping for air. Cody gets to his feet and darts past him and leaps onto the second rope and springboards off, turning in mid-air and planting his foot on the back of AJ’s head and drives him face first to the mat with a second rope springboard curb stomp. Rhodes wastes no time to roll AJ over and locks in a pin. 1……………………. 2………………………. 3! Cody wins! Rhodes celebrates after the match holding his right shoulder. The announcers talk about how Cody had to change so much of his offense tonight because of the predicament his shoulder was in thanks to Styles’ attack. AJ is attended to by officials who are cleaning up the blood on his face. As Cody tries to leave the ring, he is stopped by Styles who offers him a handshake. The two shake hands and the fans go nuts giving both a great ovation.
Rhodes is in a precarious spot and needs to find a way to break the hold before AJ dislocates his arm out of the shoulder socket. He has one recourse and shifts all of his weight towards AJ rolling Styles onto his back. AJ doesn’t break the hold but this puts him in position for a pin attempt and the official sees it. 1…………..2…………… AJ breaks the pin but reversing Cody’s reversal by continuing the roll through that Rhodes started. Now, AJ’s lefts are positioned on either side of Cody’s arm and Styles is able to get the most leverage on the arm by yanking it upwards toward the sky. Cody, now lying flat and facedown on the mat with his arm stretched up and backward is locked into an armbar that he can’t counter. Cody’s only hope is to scrap his way towards the rope to get a rope break that would force Styles to release. He crawls by putting all of his weight onto his left shoulder and drags his and AJ’s bodyweight towards the ropes that initially were approximately five feet away but within seconds he closes that gap to just barely out of reach. AJ wrenches tighter on the armbar but he is ultimately forced to break the hold once Cody gives one last surge of pull to get to the ropes and the official saves the match for Cody with the rope break.
AJ knows he can’t give in. He rolls to his feet and stomps on the back of Cody’s right shoulder and yanks him to his feet by the same arm. With the bottom right corner just three to four feet away, AJ whips Cody shoulder first into the top turnbuckle. Cody didn’t even have enough room to turn his back into the turnbuckle and all of the force is absorbed by his shoulder. AJ stays on the offense and applies a rear harmmerlock on the right arm of Rhodes and walks him backwards out of corner. Cody can only think of one opening to free his arm and instead of going with AJ he charges back towards the corner and ducks at the last second and pulls AJ chin first into the same pad that his shoulder had struck just moments before. AJ is forced to release the hold and stumbles back holding his jaw. He turns away from Cody, rocked by the impact. Rhodes has to get out of the corner himself now and turns to face his opponent only for AJ to leap and connect with a Pele kick that connects tightly across the top of Cody’s shoulder. The impact takes Cody to a knee wincing in pain and holding that shoulder. AJ rolls to his feet and grabs Cody by the wrist and leaps into the air. AJ yanks at Cody’s arm pulling it away from its socket before planting his foot into the same socket and Styles falls onto his back pulling away from Cody. As AJ hits the ground the impact sends Cody falling towards him but AJ’s foot keeps him from going the distance and Cody is rocked by his shoulder colliding with AJ’s foot and he springs off of it towards the center of the ring holding that shoulder in pain.
AJ rushes to his feet and darts to his downed opponent. Cody, lying face down, doesn’t even see AJ’s next attack as Styles slides to a seated position just to the right of Cody and locks in a crossface. Cody is in dire straights now. AJ grapevines the arm of Cody and pulls his neck away from the shoulder to cause as much strain on the joint as possible. Rhodes looks like he has no alternative but to submit to the hold but clings to every ounce of fortitude he has to not give in to the move. Again, Cody’s only hope is to use AJ’s leverage against him and he rolls through the hold and once again has Styles in a pin attempt. The official was in position to make the count. 1……………… 2……………….. AJ can’t kick out of the pin so his only hope is to release the hold to get the leverage to roll out of it. Cody nearly picks up the win but it’s AJ who is already back on the attack. Before Rhodes can make it back to his feet, AJ jumps up and drives a knee strike right into Cody’s shoulder. He takes a step back and follows it up with a kick. He turns slightly so that he is now just behind Cody and delivers a second kick to the back of his shoulder. AJ pulls Cody to his feet by tugging on the hurt arm and applies another hammerlock. Cody reaches blindly behind him trying to grab AJ’s head but Styles uses this missed effort to pull Cody’s head backwards and drops him back-first to the mat with his arm pinned under his own weight with the hammerlock still applied. Styles jumps to his feet and stomps away at Cody’s shoulder as he is trying desperately to get it unpinned from under him.
So far, AJ has been in full control of this match and nearly all of his attacks have targeted the previously injured arm of Cody. AJ stays on the offense and pulls Cody to his feet. He whips him towards the left ropes but Rhodes reverses the irish whip and now it’s AJ going towards the ropes but this may have been the worst case scenario for Cody who couldn’t free his hand and now AJ leaps over the same ropes hanging on to Cody’s hand and uses gravity and his body weight to yank Rhodes into the ropes and drops his arm over the top rope and hangs it there. Cody flings off the ropes into the middle of the ring holding on to his arm in pain. AJ hops up onto the apron and tries to put this match away by leaping onto the top rope and using it as a springboard to fly towards Cody. Rhodes, favoring his right arm, turns it away from Styles to protect it from the attack, and takes the Phenomenal Forearm to the unprotected face. Cody goes down with a thud and Styles is quick to make a cover over his foe. 1……………… 2………………. ! Cody just barely kicks out. Rhodes managed to protect his shoulder from the flying forearm but is now groggy having taken it directly to the head. AJ knows just how dangerous Cody can get when he is backed into a corner like this and stays on the offense.
Styles pulls Cody to his feet and attempts another irish whip to the upper ropes but hangs on to Cody’s arm. When he reaches full extension, AJ yanks him back towards him and leaps up with a knee that connects right into the shoulder joint. AJ applies a standing armbar and falls into a downward spiral-like attack to drive Cody shoulder first to the mat. AJ then stands over his downed opponent, now lying facedown on the mat. Styles grabs both of Cody’s arms and hyperextends them behind his back, compressing them towards one another. The submission is effective in applying pressure to the damaged shoulder but AJ just can’t get enough leverage to force a submission. The official presses Cody for the submission but Rhodes never relents. Realizing that he needs a new tactic, AJ releases the hold and stomps on the back of Rhodes’ shoulder for emphasis. With Cody still lying face down, AJ applies a rear crossface chickenwing onto the hurt shoulder with a knee planted firmly in Rhodes’ lower back. Cody screams in agony as the official checks on him. Eventually AJ realizes that he still has a new degree of pressure he can apply and sits on the lower back of Rhodes and pulls him upward bending at the abdomen. He now has the crossface chickenwing applied from a seated position like a camel clutch and yanks on the neck and shoulder of Rhodes. Eventually Cody isn’t able to respond to the official’s checks so he lifts Cody’s free arm to see if he still has consciousness. He raises it and releases it and it falls immediately. He does this again and for the second time it falls. A third time and it drops but Cody stops it from slapping the mat and rallies back.
The fans get behind Cody’s comeback and chant for him. Cody does the unthinkable and with his free hand, he plants all of his weight against the mat on that arm and lifts himself up to his knees with AJ sitting on his back. Cody keeps struggling and moves himself to one bent knee and resting on the other. AJ won’t release the hold and has his legs wrapped around Cody’s waist. Finally, Cody leans slightly forward and is able to get to both feet. With AJ backpacking on him, Cody stands upright. The fans go crazy as Cody stumbles backward as though he was running in reverse and slams AJ back first into the bottom right turnbuckle. Styles has no hope of hanging on to the chickenwing and releases the hold as he gasps for air. Cody knows he needs something big if he is going to get out of this. He backs into AJ and uses his left arm to reach behind him and locks on a three-quarter facelock and runs out of the corner with a cutter that drives AJ head first to the mat. If Cody needed something big to take control of the match, this was the move that would do it for him.
Despite taking control of the match, Cody still favored his right shoulder throughout the fight. Moves that he would typically connect with using his right arm, were made awkward by the American Nightmare when he would have to switch up to his left arm. The fans are split in this match and are now chanting for AJ to get a second wind but it’s not enough. The cutter wasn’t enough to keep AJ down and he gets to his feet just after Cody does only to take a kick to the gut that doubles Styles over. Cody applies a front facelock and drives AJ to the mat with a DDT. Rhodes doesn’t release the front facelock and pulls himself up to a knee and drags AJ to his feet as well and takes him down to the mat for a second time with another DDT! The fans go crazy but Cody isn’t done. Still applying the facelock, he sits up onto a knee and now has to drag the deadweight of Styles up to his feet again. Cody raises his right hand to the air and calls for another DDT in the same manner that Jake Roberts used to and with one fast fall and one sudden landing, Rhodes knocks AJ Styles out with a third consecutive DDT. Rhodes rolls AJ over and makes a cover as the official slides into position. 1……………. 2…………………. NO! AJ kicks out by barely slipping his shoulder up off the mat. The fans can’t believe it. Cody has taken a beating on his right shoulder but three DDTs would typically be too much for anyone. Rhodes almost can’t believe it himself.
Cody doesn’t let the nearfall distract him. He gets back up to his feet and falls back against the right ropes and rebounds off and leaps up off the mat and drives a knee directly to the forehead of Styles. He sharply rolls back to his feet and lets his feet fall out from underneath him as he drops all of his weight down onto his left elbow that drives into Styles’ head. He does this in rapid procession three consecutive times and the three elbow drops have left AJ stunned. Cody grabs AJ by the head and pulls him up to a knee and lifts his head up and applies a guillotine on the Phenomenal One. Cody uses all of his weight to lock into the sleeper and AJ just can’t seem to find an escape. Finally, AJ goes limp and the official is forced to make a count on Styles as well. The arm goes up and comes back down two times but just like Cody he manes to stop it from falling a third and saves himself from a loss. AJ has scouted the guillotine well and musters the last of his oxygen and energy to wrap his arms around Cody and hoist him dead-weight up off the mat. Cody wraps his legs around AJ’s midsection to get more leverage on the hold. AJ pushes through the hold and manages to get to his feet. Cody releases his legs from around AJ and comes to a standing position with Styles’ head still locked in the guillotine. AJ uses his arm strength to shove Cody off of him and Rhodes hits the left ropes, rebounds, and AJ swings for the fences with a discuss DDT but Cody ducks underneath and jumps onto the second rope and springboards off with a Disaster Kick. Both men go to the mat hard and it looks like Cody landed on his right shoulder as he rolls around holding it in pain. AJ appears to be knocked unconscious. The official checks on both men before he stars a ten count on the pair. Cody is the one who breaks it after a two count when he rolls over and lies backfirst on AJ and uses his left arm to pull Style’s leg up into a pin. 1……………….. 2…………………. AJ gets a shoulder up!
The fans are coming alive and cheering for both men with dueling chants. Rhodes struggles with what he will have to do to put AJ away. Cody gets to his feet first, but is still favoring his shoulder. He stays on the offensive by dragging AJ to his feet as well and applying a standing front facelock. Cody tries to hoist Styles into the air but halfway up through the lift he drops him back to the as his right arm gives out on the lift. Cody agonizes over the pain in his shoulder. Styles may have gotten a reprieve but he didn’t capitalize on it and Cody knees him in the gut and applies another front facelock but this time uses his left arm to flip Styles up into the air and immediately drops him head first to the mat with a sickening brainbuster. The failed attempt with his right arm is too much for Cody and he comes up out of the brainbuster holding his right arm in pain and misses an opportunity to make the pin on Styles. Cody may have seriously damaged the muscle in the shoulder with the attempt. He tries to get back on the offense though and grabs AJ by the hair and pulls him to a standing position. Cody strikes him with a left overhead elbow strike that resembles the ones Dusty one time performed. A second strike. A third. A fourth. Cody throws some of the Dusty theatrics into the mix and finishes the sequence with a fifth and final bionic elbow, this time driving down his dominant right elbow to the head of Styles that takes him to the mat. Cody realizes how bad a decision that was but hopes that it was enough to put away his opponent and cinches him in for a tight cover. 1………….. 2………….. and not even close. AJ gets his shoulder up off the mat to stop the attempt.
Cody is going to try a high risk move to put this one away. Before AJ can recover from the elbows, Cody goes to the bottom right corner and climbs the turnbuckle. Rhodes has his back to the center of the ring and as Styles gets to his feet Cody leaps off the top rope with a moonsault. Styles sees the attack coming and sidesteps the move. Cody manages to save himself a crash and burn scenario by landing on his feet. Cody is left wide open but still manages to go for an offensive strike first as he leaps off the mat with a dropick. The assault fails and AJ locks hold of Cody’s feet and Rhodes is forced to free fall onto his back with his legs locked in Styles’ grasp. AJ tucks the legs under his arms and rolls Cody over for an elevated Boston Crab. Styles applies the pressure onto the neck of Cody and keeps his body lifted more vertically to put pressure on his spine and neck. Rhodes is clearly caught off guard by this and has no remedy for an escape. The fans give support to Cody but it just doesn’t seem to be enough. He claws and scrapes his way towards the ropes but as soon as it is within grasp, AJ walks him back towards the center of the ring. Cody makes one more valiant effort to get to the ropes to get a rope break but again as soon as he is close AJ pulls him away. This time AJ plants his foot onto the back of Cody’s head and lifts his lefts high up into more of a Walls of Jericho like Crab and plants his knee right into the lower back of Cody and cranks backward. The official is in position to hear a submission but Cody just doesn’t relent.

AJ joins his opponent on the announcer’s table and lifts him to a standing position, bent over, with Cody’s head between AJ’s legs. AJ calls for another Styles Clash on the announcer’s table but when he reaches down to grab Cody, Rhodes pulls away and rolls under the arm of AJ. Styles spins around only to take a kick to the midsection and now it’s his head between the legs of Cody who locks his arms behind his back and hoists him high into the air and drives him through the announcer’s table with a Tiger Driver! The crowd roars with excitement. The official realizes that he can’t control this action outside the ring and gets back inside and begins a ten count on both men. Within a few seconds Cody has recovered. He tucks his right arm against his body and holds it tight with his left and rolls into the ring leaving AJ in the carnage outside. As the official nears the eight count, we finally have a stirring from Styles. AJ stumbles to his feet and just narrowly misses getting counted out by sliding into the ring at the last possible split second.
AJ may have avoided a count out but he rolls right into a springboard bionic elbow from Cody. The elbow is from Rhodes’ nondominant left arm and he doesn’t get all of it which may be fortunate for Rhodes who only stuns AJ. As Styles spins away from Cody, stunned, Rhodes grabs him by the head and yanks it back into a reverse standing facelock and spins him hard to the mat with the Crossrhodes! Cody had to use his right arm for the attack and it clearly did a number on him as he snaps away from AJ holding the arm. He has no time to be hurt and leaps onto Styles for a pin attempt. He pulls AJ’s leg up tight for the cover. 1……………… 2……………… and now it’s AJ who is able to grab the bottom rope to stop the cover. Cody can’t believe it. He was sure he had finished the job. AJ and Cody are both wore out and physically spent. AJ is holding his head in pain from the numerous drops he has suffered tonight. The announcer’s speculate that he has possibly been concussed at some point if not before then definitely at the hands of the Crossrhodes. Meanwhile, Cody is grasping his shoulder in pain. This leads the announcers to speculate that he may have rushed his return to the ring before it was fully healed and a deadly AJ knew this and targeted the arm and shoulder early to stay in control of the match.
Cody isn’t going to be undone by the kick out. He grabs AJ by the head and pulls him to his feet. AJ can’t even block his attacker as Cody rears his head backwards and locks him in the reverse standing facelock again and spins him quickly downward toward the mat with another Crossrhodes! But Cody snaps to the floor with a thud and we see AJ still standing hanging tightly onto the top rope. Cody bounces up off the mat, still holding that shoulder. Styles grabs him by hair from behind and yanks his head back and AJ puts Cody away with his own finisher. Rhodes is slammed to the mat with the Crossrhodes. AJ may have made a bad decision to not go for a pin attempt here and instead he rolls under the bottom rope and climbs the turnbuckle. AJ props himself up onto the top rope and sizes up Cody who hasn’t moved after taking his own move. AJ leaps off the top with his Spiral Tap assault but at the last second Cody rolls out of the way and Styles crashes and burns on the mat. AJ bounces off the mat holding his lower back in pain. He rolls over to a knee only to be slammed to the mat headfirst as Cody drives him downward with a curb stomp. The announcers make the association that Cody “borrowed” the move from Seth who has put him out of commission for months using the same move on Cody in the spring of last year. Cody rolls AJ over for a pin but just can’t seem to lock onto a leg. 1………………. 2………………… and once again AJ kicks out.
The fans are going nuts as Cody and AJ both lie on their back sucking in air. Each have their own wounds that are keeping them down in this contest and neither are prepared to really get back on the offense. The chants are pouring in and it’s Cody who comes to first. He comes up to a knee and pulls AJ up to a similar position. Cody strikes him with a punch. AJ retaliates. This initiates a back and forth striking sequence between the two that initially starts slow but eventually each competitor grabs the other by the back of the head and starts pounding away with fights and forearms and elbows and it doesn’t take long before both men fall back to the mat holding their head. AJ has taken much of his damage tonight to the head so Cody is the first to recover from the strikes. He pulls AJ by the hair to a standing position. Rhodes whips Cody to the right ropes and AJ jumps and limbos through the top and middle ropes to a standing position on the apron. He spins around on the apron and connects with an elbow strike to Rhodes who tries to attack him over the rope. Cody recoils back into the ring and AJ is going to put him away. He leaps up onto the top rope and springboards off with another Phenomenal Forearm but Cody sees it coming from a mile away and jumps and connects with a dropkick to the gut of Styles that stops AJ mid-flight. AJ falls to the mat and lands on his knees gasping for air. Cody gets to his feet and darts past him and leaps onto the second rope and springboards off, turning in mid-air and planting his foot on the back of AJ’s head and drives him face first to the mat with a second rope springboard curb stomp. Rhodes wastes no time to roll AJ over and locks in a pin. 1……………………. 2………………………. 3! Cody wins! Rhodes celebrates after the match holding his right shoulder. The announcers talk about how Cody had to change so much of his offense tonight because of the predicament his shoulder was in thanks to Styles’ attack. AJ is attended to by officials who are cleaning up the blood on his face. As Cody tries to leave the ring, he is stopped by Styles who offers him a handshake. The two shake hands and the fans go nuts giving both a great ovation.
