Day 18 a song from the year you were born had to do some digging since 1985 was a down year for the genre, Marley had been dead for 4 years, the bands that carried the genre in the wake of his passing Black Uhuru and Steel Pulse all hit their peak by 83-84, most all of the good bands were in between albums but Dennis Brown did release this gem that year:

Day 19 a song that makes me think about life Sunshine and Rain by Stick Figure off of what would have to be considered a classic album now.
Life, it's a mixture of sunshine and rain Laughter, pleasure, teardrops, and pain All days can be bright, but it's certainly true There will never be a cloud that the sunshine couldn't shine through So keep on smiling whatever betide you Secure the knowledge that this world is beside you
And you'll find when you smile, your day will be brighter And all of your burdens will seem so much lighter For each time you smile, you will find it is true Somebody, somewhere will smile back at you, yeah
There's nothing on this Earth that can make life more worthwhile Than the sunshine and the warmth of a beautiful smile
So keep on smiling Keep smiling Keep on smiling Keep smiling

Day 20 a song that has many meanings to me, this one by Rebelution, a band that I consider one of my “Big 3” for this style, the 3 main bands that all popped up around late 2000’s and put out some of my favorite new music through the last decade(the other 2 bands being Tribal Seeds and Fortunate Youth). This band especially just put out one killer album after another in the 2010’s it was fun to be a fan to follow along through that evolution and maturity. This album was the one I discovered shortly after it came out(released in 2012, I bought the deluxe edition the month it came out in 2013).

Day 21 all caught up dude, song with somebody name in the title it’s ok if it’s a Bible name from the Bronze Age; Modern Day Judas by Jesse Royal. Fell in love with this guy from Jamaica and then caught him live in Long Beach in 2022 on a small third stage at a big festival just him and a DJ and he killed it with my favorite set of the entire 3 day festival.

Love me some Type O Negative Shootist . My buddy Benny introduced them to me within the past couple years. I was shocked I missed out. Day 22 - A song that moves you forward I had to think upon this because I had to figure out what it meant to move forward and if there was a song that did that for me and I took it as a song that fired you up, motivated you and got you through tough times. I am the Fire - Halestorm "It's Ok If You Fall Down And Lose Your Spark. Just Make Sure Than When You Get Back Up, you rise as the whole damn fire."

Day 22 - I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
Not going to pretend I listen to this regularly but I’ve tried to do the first song that pops into my head this whole time and this was what I thought of right away. And even though it’s not in my regular rotation… it’s still a banger that’s fun to crank and sing along with every time it happens to come on.

Day 23 - A song you think everyone should listen to
Honestly I could list a lot of songs, but this is the instant one that popped into my head. I don’t think you have to be a huge MCR fan to love the song. It’s fantastic!!!

Day 22 song that moves me forward, I’ll tell you what man try being a single dad these last few years to a baby boy trying to run a construction business through Covid pandemic keeping 5-6 guys paid every week dealing with bullshit contractors this song became an anthem last year
Great new artist out of Jamaica has a ton of talent that broke out the last couple years, him Jesse Royal and Protoje are 3 amazing newer artists that have really put a nice spin on that genre lately. I’m hoping to see him open for Tribal Seeds in Dallas next month!

Day 22: A song that moves you forward.
Time to bring out my inner Canadian again. A dance classic from a newly minted Hall of Famer.
Let Your Backbone Slide - Maestro Fresh Wes
Day 23: A song everyone should listen to.
Another Canadian classic. This time, with a little bilingual flavour.

Say 23 - A song everyone Should listen to
Mistral Wind - Heart
This song began my love affair with Heart. It starts out hauntingly, beautifully slow and then BAM! - it picks up and Ann Wilson's voice cuts through and pierces the veil.

Day 24 a song by a band that broke up I wish was still together, exhibit A. that the Pandemic wrecked all momentum this genre had going in 2018-2019, the brightest young band that to me was at the forefront of the evolution of that style Iya Terra my favorite newer band just broke up late last year after 3 pretty amazing albums. This band was supposed to be the future and now they’re just done, pretty sad sign that this music genre whatever it was that it had going was something special and it unfortunately peaked 2019-2020:
Will be missing them for sure, Coming To Light in 2019 was the best sounding album I’ve heard in this style and will go down as an all time favorite. So grateful I got to see them in the California sunshine on the beach February 2020 at their zenith, they played that song pretty amazingly that day and went off into War Pigs by Black Sabbath cover so yeah they were the coolest band in the world 2017 to 2021 my favorite 🤙 💕. Add this band to the list of dead shit ECW, Pride FC, Houston Oilers, Pantera, I can’t ever have anything nice 😂🥲

Day 24 - Song from a band who has broken up
This one was a tough one because most of the bands I listen to are still touring. Maybe with a different line up because someone died but for the most part still touring until they all die. These guys broke up twice and reformed in 2011 but without Hook.

Day 24 - a band that has broken up
I was trying not to repeat artists but I honestly can’t think of any bands I like that have broken up, mainly because the ones who did break up got back together 😂😂
So I’m picking HIM again! I understand why they broke up and I’m loving Ville’s solo stuff but it would be lovely if they could do a reunion tour one day.
Enjoy my favourite song by them! Scared to Death - HIM

Day 24: A song from a band I wish was still together.
Although this group is technically still around, and still has one original member left, I felt like the band as we knew them ended, when they lost both of their members within a year of each other in the early 80s. Man, what could've been with that lineup.

Day 25 my song by artist no longer living, Katastro is a very unique band. They really don’t sound reggae at all, but they play those fests and tour with those bands. They are the one band that always goes over with my ex girlfriends when they try to get into my music. I don’t know how to classify them, just an alternative band modern day. There is elements of pop Justin Timberlake futuresexlovesounds with hip hop and a lot of freedom to just do what they want. Very interesting band but honestly they weren’t reggae enough for me, I was never a big fan. But they played at the Cali Vibes fest in February 2022 on the main stage in Long Beach. I was on the front rail for Stick Figure later that night, so was front and center for their set early that day. They totally killed it, the lead singer just grabbed and owned the stage had a confidence and swagger and belief in himself and what he was singing that stood out from the other 30 bands that weekend. Excellent frontman just pouring charisma and talent. Just a few weeks after I seen that performance that singer was killed in a car accident spring 2022, cut down in his prime just weeks after I seen them tear it up live. I fell in love with this whole album after that, definitely check it out if you want something different the whole album is great: www.12news.com/article/news/local/valley/tempe-band-katastro-loses-frontman-andy-chaves-california-accident/75-0996f440-df51-4cb5-a5c7-312b1825c93eAnother great band cut down in their prime

Day 25 - a song by an artist no longer living. The song is by the band, but the artist is Chester Bennington. It’s incredible that Linkin Park’s music has saved so many people’s lives, but heartbreaking that it couldn’t save him. Depression sucks.

Day 25: A song by an artist no longer living.
More classic Canadiana, from a legend we lost not too long ago.
Canadian Railroad Trilogy - Gordon Lightfoot.
Fun fact. Lightfoot was commissioned by the CBC (Canada's answer to PBS) to write a song for Canada's centennial. And this was the result.
