Boy Kills World was hilariously fun satire on the martial arts genre. Just an over the top movie that focused on being cheesy fun first and foremost. Not everything hit they tried, but enough did to make it a very fun film.

The Iron Claw
I'm a little late to the game on this one, but finally saw it and was expecting it to get a little dusty and to shed a tear. But it never came.
The respect shown to the business is obviously the best anyone has ever given pro wrestling and the performances of Efron and JAW are top notch. Despite the fact they're both 5'7 playing guys a hell of a lot bigger. JAW standing in a door frame looking like a child is perhaps a poor choice when trying to convince the audience these are big tough wrestlers.
Now the tragedies. I felt they never really hit as hard as they could. There wasn't nearly the weight there could of been.
I did like ending with all the brothers. I thought that was nice. And the moment with the kids at the same time.

Ending scene ruined for me when even then they pretended Chris Von Erich did not exist. I suspect this was a better movie before the cuts. But even then, Chris was cut before shooting.
My feeling was they wanted to make a tragedy but not have it be truly tragic.

They cut Chris because they thought it was one tragedy too many.
I just thought each tragedy didn't carry a lot of weight, maybe part of it was the stoic pig headedness of the old man to just move on, or the direction..
But I think I've felt more emotion watching people die in Marvel Films.

French Girl: The Wife wanted to watch a rom-com and chose this. Honestly, I didn’t care for it at all, probably the worst movie I’ve seen with a 2024 release date. If I had to find something positive to say about it, it at least had Vanessa Hudgens in it. Role Play: We only gave this a watch as Kaley Cuoco (Penny, The Big Bang Theory) was in it. As it turns out though, it’s a very basic paint-by-numbers film (not surprising as it was a straight to Amazon Prime movie). Tarot: Good, but not great. Still though, once it hits streaming services, I’ll no doubt add it to my spooky season rotation list. As of now, I would put Tarot in my top ten films of 2024 list. 2024 Films SeenAbigail Air Force One Down Argylle Cash Out Code 8: Part II Damsel French Girl Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Heart of the Hunter Imaginary Immaculate Kung Fu Panda 4 Lift Lisa Frankenstein Madame Web Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate Miller’s Girl Night Swim Orion and the Dark Ricky Stanicky Road House Role Play Tarot The Beekeeper The Painter The Underdoggs This Is Me… Now: A Love Story Upgraded Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp

Tarot looked like generic mainstream horror. I will watch it when I can solely because the director wrote the batshit scary Moonfall script.

New released movies! Tarot - enjoyable horror movie, if you like the trailer you’ll like the movie. It’s quick and straight forward, no stupid predictable twists just good jump scary fun.
Boy Kills World - I was excited for this movie based on the trailer and my expectations were I would love it or I would hate it. I LOVED it, it was ridiculous fun. Just hilarious and gory, the constant voice monologue was hilarious and just the whole thing was a fun roller coaster ride. Would absolutely love to watch it again for the first time because I just had the best time - and considering I was pretty upset about some personal things before the movie that is a major feat since I forgot about my personal bullshit and dived straight into this universe.
Spaceman - So so depressing, but excellent film. Adam Sandler was brilliant. Great storytelling and I can’t believe I cried over a spider 😳
The Idea of You - Stupid fun romcom, it’s predicable, it’s cheesy. Apparently it’s based on a Harry Styles fanfic (which wtf?) it’s pretty obvious watching the lead but I didn’t go into this film expecting an Oscar nominated film. I enjoyed it 🤷🏻♀️ really grateful they changed the ending from the book though, i looked it up and the books ending sounds garbage.

This week I will spend about 46hrs flying in total. Caught up on some movies.
Aquaman lost kingdom - Unwatchable garbage Blue Beetle - Heaps of potential but near unwatchable garbage. Oppenheimer - 10/10 loved every minute, beautifully told and handles the science and ethics with a neat perfect touch.

Boy Kills World was so fun. Just a stupid campy 70's style fight film that knew exactly what it wanted to be. Felt they hit what Kill Bill was aiming for better than Tarantino did.

Mean Girls (2024): The original Mean Girls movie is one of the greatest chick flicks of all-time, with a fantastic cast. So does this new Mean Girls surpass it? Of course not, that’s OK though, cause it’s a pretty nice mix between the original film and the musical. Also, it was great seeing Lindsey Lohan show up near the end of the movie. Mother of the Bride: A pretty simplistic rom-com (on Netflix), as someone who isn’t big on the genre, I surprisingly really liked this movie. I will say, seeing Chad Michael Murray playing a character named Lucas gave me a bit of a chuckle, just because his rise to fame was playing Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill (an awesome show by the way). Overall, I didn't feel like I was wasting my time, with either one of these movies. 2024 Films SeenAbigail Air Force One Down Argylle Cash Out Code 8: Part II Damsel French Girl Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Heart of the Hunter Imaginary Immaculate Kung Fu Panda 4 Late Night with the Devil Lift Lisa Frankenstein Madame Web Mean Girls Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate Miller’s Girl Mother of the Bride Night Swim Orion and the Dark Ricky Stanicky Road House Role Play Tarot The Beekeeper The Painter The Underdoggs This Is Me… Now: A Love Story Upgraded Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp

Barbie
It's showing free to air on Foxtel, so I thought I'd check it out.
I don't get the (over)hype - both the positive or the negative. It's OK. Maybe, good.. enough, but hardly amazing.
Sure, it's got some sharp social commentary and Robbie is always good, and I enjoy Gosling in most things, but other than that, it was just a fun sort of movie. I particularly enjoyed the characters discovering self consciousness and anxiety among others, that was good stuff. The feelings of dread, etc.
I've heard people proclaim it as one of the best movies of a generation, and even generational defining - sorry, it ain't Fight Club for the girls of Gen Z.
And nor did I find it offensive or an attack on my manhood or as a conservative.
I can do without Kate McKinnon playing the same proud as punch (in her own comedic abilities that is) character she plays in every movie. I swear everything I see her in, she's fighting with all her will power from looking directly into the camera and going " It's me! "
It's an OK.

Mean Girls 2024 felt completely unnecessary, just a worse version of everything with mostly forgettable songs, sanded off any edge the original had. Very flaccid retelling.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was fine, not as good as Afterlife, but solid enough.

I think the Barbie stuff was just people getting wrapped into the hype of Barbenheimer and the fact it was like the good movie in the sea of the pandemic shit as everyone started to hold releases for after the pandemic.
