So my long term memory is great, and I’m forever getting compliments at work on my memory of drink orders..which is ironic because my memory is otherwise terrible especially short term.
Case in point. On my break and I see I have a missed call from my tattooist. “Send your design in for tomorrow?” ...wait, WHAT? I don’t have an appointment until August. Turns out I made said appointment last year and only made a note of it in my old phone (that’s now at the bottom of the ocean 😒). Tattooist is always booked out months in advance, so explains why I forgot. Luckily I had the day free and already had design..so it worked out well in the end 😂.
So I’m always forgetting stuff, and I’m definitely one of those people that goes to the store to get something and ends up getting everything but said item. I also have to write notes or reminders in my phone to make sure I don’t forget. Getting concussed in 2016 probably didn’t help either. Ask me a conversation that happened 10 years ago though? I’ll remember every detail.
Anyway, how forgetful are you?

Long and mid-term I'm fine with. But I too, have some short term memory problems. Even something as random as where I placed my remote control becomes a conundrum sometimes.

Long term memory is great. I've discussed Spatial Sequence Synesthesia before on here, and my perception of time.
Short term, not so great. I don't know whether it takes time for me to process information or whether, I usually have a lot going on at work, and a lot of people around me, and a lot of moving pieces that in the short term, I can struggle. A lot of which is really just from having several on-going conversations of the course of a day, or week. I'm a list maker at work to help, and the more detail I put into say, planning something the more I remember it.

I remember conversations, data points, processes, etc., incredibly well.
Every morning I spend five minutes trying to find my wallet.

My memory is getting pretty bad with some things. I have always had what would probably be classified as face blindness, I can meet someone and spend a day with them then have no idea what they look like the next day... True story  If we are at a restaurant I have to ask my wife who was serving us... I have no idea. More and more people are telling me stories about things that I said or did years ago, these use to ring a bell even if I didn't remember explicitly, but now it's crickets. When it comes to technical things, I never forget, If I understand the theory behind something I never forget, from general relativity to linux commands. But I cannot remember anything parrot fashion, I have bought those learn a language CD's several time to learn Mandarin, it says a word, I repeat it twice, then the second word, which I repeat then it asks me to remember the first word.... No idea I hope it is just all a result of my brain being full, but the face blindness things is super weird and embarrassing because sales and meeting people is a big part of my job.

It's becoming the same story over and over again, but my long term memory is freakishly good, my short term memory is bad and only getting worse. I had to look at the same Wifi password three times while getting a device hooked up yesterday. It wasn't even a totally randomized collection of letters and numbers, it was one of those stock router passwords "word, 3 numbers, word, 3 numbers," and it was like having to memorize the infinite of Pi. I don't remember anything about that password today. That's the sort of thing I used to be able to look at once and remember it.

My daughter and others joke about having me tested for early onset Alzheimer's. That's not funny, but that's how poor my memory is now. I often start a sentence and then my twain goes off the twack. I start something and forget what I was doing. Go into a room and wonder why I'm there. I'm like Ozzy Osbourne.
That's why History of Wrestling is somewhat lost on me. I can't talk in depth about outcomes of past wrestling matches. I've watched wrestling since I was 4 but you could lay out matches before me that I have seen and unless I've watched them more than a handful of times it would be like seeing them for the first time.

I can be forgetful but I've never forgotten my child in a hot car. I do not understand how others do. It sickens me.
