So after telling Colt he would pay all his legal cost repeatedly for refusing to comply with the podcast takedown and the defamation suit that followed, Punk is refusing to pay for Colt's legal costs, paying half then telling Colt he is on his own to pay the remaining 250,000.  Colt went to court and sued Punk for legal costs and a million dollars in punitive damage.

Punk lawyer pulled some sketchy shit in the lead up to the trial that would have allowed Punk to blame Colt for everything if it looked like he was going to lose, and this looks to be an extension of that thought that this was all Colt's fault.  It ended up leaving Colt to fend for himself legally and get his own lawyer, which is where Colt's old retired lawyer comes from.

This really seems to be becoming the saga that never ends.

Yeah, this sums it up really. I'm a big Punk fan and a lot of the stuff he represents, but it's hard to say anything but he's done Colt a big dirty here. 

Punk's email to Cabana:

Yeah, Colt hinted their relationship turned sour in recent interviews. Guess there was a big blowout when Colt went to a WWE show backstage and Punk lawyers freaked and Punk went off on Colt saying it would cost him the lawsuit.

I really wonder if Punk is really this fucking stupid though. If he wins, Colt will have to declare bankruptcy to clear the legal bills. Following that, I am sure every single shoot interview group will be throwing money at Colt to talk about all this shit. The only thing that really would prevent him from doing so, is his friendship with Punk, which would be killed here as well. An angry Colt is the go to guy too for dirt on Punk, and I am in the camp that believes Punk is one of those guys who is really fucked up but also good at not making the shit public. Even with no dirt, fucking over Colt like this, after fucking over WWE, basically sends the message Punk will do what he wants regardless of agreements, legal or otherwise, he makes. I think this may sever his ties to prowrestling, moreso when Colt helped make the current generation of guys. Good thing Punk has that MMA career to fall back on.
