Maybe I am one of very few but I thought The Hurricane was a great performer in the days of the Super Hero being in the WWE and was vastly underrated to me.
A character such as his should never have got over like it did with him, I rarely saw a bad match with him in it and he deserves some credit,He was smart in the Ring and adapted well depending on his opponent and his merchandise sales according to Chris Jericho on his podcast were among the top Sellers.
I remember the little feud with The Rock who obviously rated the guy as I doubt The Rock just let anyone go over on him especially a character like Hurricanes if he didn't think highly of him so he deserves credit for that.
He was not a World Title guy but he was a worthy Intercontinental or United States Champion and deserved one of those as a reward for his hard work.
Any other Hurricane fans here?

They changed it. Now it sucks. Let's fix it.

The Hurricane gimmick was cute for a few months. I quite liked him in late 2001. Then it got old. Think I was already tired of him by the time he beat The Rock (didn't he beat Flair too?). Yet they just kept going and going and going with it.
I wasn't really enamored with his wrestling either. I was still a moves guy back then. I didn't watch WCW when he was there and had never seen OMEGA. I had been lead to believe Helms was this cool moves guy. Well, he wasn't. His moveset was far more OVW than Michinoku Pro. There was no way I could bring myself to get excited about a cruiserweight who had no cool moves (see also: Noble, Jamie) and a tired, played out gimmick.
Didn't like his team with Rosey or SERIOUS BUSINESS Gregory Helms and the endless Matt Hardy feud either. Helms was just a guy....a guy I didn't much care for.

I fucking loved him, and particularly his selling.
The pairing with Rosey was no good though.
I'd stopped watching WWE, so I missed his serious heel run.
He had some great moments with some big names, but I think he could've/should've been utilized even more in late 2002/early 2003.
He was the proto-Daniel Bryan in the proto-Team Hell No with Kane. He and Kane should've been more of a thing, and they would've been better suited for the spot that RVD & Kane had. The unmasking angle would've been more interesting. Hurricane would've been a more sympathetic face for Kane to turn heel against (meanwhile freeing RVD to do something elsewhere on the card where he might've been needed more). My main dilemma is whether they should've been called the Masked Machines or HurriKane. Either way, the Big Red Machine & Little Green Machine should've been way more of a featured fixture.
RVD could've just kept tagging with Jeff Hardy as the High (-_-) Flyers.

I thought he was a very good worker.
He was never going to main event or get close to it, and I think he reached his peak as both a heel and babyface. Ultimately his babyface persona was much more successful, overall, I do think I enjoyed his heel run more.

I liked the Hurricane. Honestly, I like Helms in general. It's hard to not like a guy that took two crappy gimmicks (being a member of a boy band in WCW, and then being the comic book "nerd" that's really trying to be a superhero), and got both over with fans. He's one of the more underrated guy, IMO.

Like up there with Perfect & Dolph but not offensively unbelievable.

One of my favorite random sell jobs was Orton's @ WMXX when he's tossed over the top. Does a semi-apron bump that I always marked out for. Potential post for KING KID 's thread.

I liked Hurricane Helms, dude was entertaining for me anyway. His pairing with Rosey or The Super Hero In Training (The S.H.I.T) was also gold.
I seem to remember them reviving it a little for his run in the WWE version of ECW, which I kinda floated in and out of.....as my interest in the product was not high then.
When he dropped the Hurrican gimmick, and became Gregory Helms, that was when I enjoyed him even more, dude was a cool heel. Didn't he hold the Cruiserweight title for over a year?
